Lola had voluntarily dropped out of school.

Parents, children, and teachers heaved a long sigh of relief.

Athena received the news that Paityn had taken Lola back to Kitmore City. The Pittman Family had also stopped finding trouble with the Donovan family. Athena told Rufus to leave the Pittman family alone for the time being.

“The Pittman Family has screwed over so many people. Who would want to be on their side in the future?” Athena stood up and stretched. “Josie’s has had the cast on for more than ten days. It should be about time to remove it.

The medicine Athena gave Josie was very good.

Coupled with the fact that Josie was young, her recovery was quick.

After careful examination, Josie’s leg had regained its normal function. She would be able to run and jump around freely very soon.

After the cast was removed, Josie was overjoyed. She kept jumping on the spot and even clapped her hands as she sang, “If you’re happy, and you know it, clap your hands…”

Maria suggested, “To celebrate Josie’s leg’s recovery, how about we go to the countryside for a couple of days?”

The whole family had been very busy throughout the year.

Also, the two old folks of the Donovan family had already moved to the city. It had been a long time since the Donovan family had returned to their hometown. They all thought that Maria’s suggestion was, indeed, a good idea.

Donovan’s Restaurant was closed on Sundays.

The Donovan family split themselves into a few cars early in the morning and headed to Oxhorn Village.

Oxhorn Village was extremely different from what it used to be.

More than a dozen farm stays of different sizes were built in the village, and the food served was all organic vegetables, fruits, poultry, etc. Business was booming.

The county has designated Oxhorn Village as a key tourist attraction and built a two–lane paved road in the village.

One end of the paved road was connected to the highway, and the other end was at the end of the village. Along the way, two sides of the road were furnished with flower beds, like that of the Donovan family’s house, and were filled with all kinds of short–stem flowers and plants. Coupled with the fact that there were many vegetable fields in the village, the landscape was breathtaking.

There was also an open parking lot at the entrance of the village

During the holiday season, the parking lot would be filled with cars. Along the street, one would see tourists strolling or enjoying local food.

Young people, who had left the village, could see that the village had undergone rapid development. They started returning to the village, either to work or to build guesthouses and farm stays. As a result, the village became bustling and full of vitality.

As for the Donovan family’s farmland, it was as beautiful as a paradise.

The Donovan family–owned vegetable fields and hills added up to a total area of more than 20 acres, which was equivalent to more than ten football fields.

Jaden named the farin Donovan’s Farmland” and recruited more than a hundred graduates from agricultural universities to be in charge of vegetable farming and poultry farming. The recruits were provided food, accommodation, insurance, and salary. During holidays, they could either take a break or work at triple the daily wage.

In addition, Jaden signed a cooperation agreement with the Agricultural University to make Donovan’s Farmland the school’s off–campus training base, on top of hiring the university’s lecturers as advisors.

The lecturers of the Agricultural University were impassioned by what Jaden had done. They gave him an outstanding alumni award and put his photo and name up in the university’s Hall of Fame.

Many tourists wanted to visit Donovan’s Farmland, but the farm was practically flooded with crops, poultry, and aquatic products. The Donovan family and staff were living there, too. Thus, it wasn’t an ideal attraction for too many people to visit. Therefore, most tourists could only admire the beautiful farm through the fence.

When the Donovan family drove into the farm through the old but solid wood gate, wheezed up a slope past the flower bed, and eventually stopped in front of the old house, the tourists wished they were the ones in the cars.

Someone sighed faintly. “If only I was born to the Donovan family. With such a large piece of paradise, I can enjoy life without needing to be a part of the rat race. I’d be living like a king…”

The others laughed. “You can start saving up good deeds in this life, and who knows? You may have a shot at being born to the Donovan family in your next life.”

A lot of people were throwing similar mockery at each other..

The Donovan family was already used to the envy and ridicule of people around them.

Fortunately, no matter how blatantly the tourists watched, the Donovan family was completely unaffected.

After getting out of the car, Fiona and Cade were helped into the house to rest. Then, Josie was taken to wander around the farm.

Josie rode on the tricycle her family had bought for her and dashed along the paved road that had just been repaired. She curiously looked at the newly developed hilly areas.

Each hill had a different role to play.

The biggest one was used to farm chickens. At the foot of the mountain was a stone tablet with the words “Flychick Hill” engraved on it.

There was more vegetation on the mountain, and there was a chicken coop at the top.

Normally, those free–range chickens would run around in the grass or roost on the branches. It wasn’t easy to spot them. People passing by could only hear their clucks coming from the grasses and trees.

When everyone reached the foot of Flychick Hill, the workers were pouring chopped fresh vegetables, minced meat, rice, and so on into the food trough. They rang the bell after that.

In an instant, the entire forest moved.

A lot of poultry flapped their wings and flew out of the forest and grass, rushing to get to the food trough.

Josie was stunned. She pointed at the poultry and said, “Wow, there are so many big birds.”

When the birds flew in front of her, she saw that they were not birds, but chickens with glossy feathers.

Her eyes widened. “Wow, do chickens fly, too? This is Josie’s first time seeing a flying chicken.”

Everyone laughed hard when they heard that.

Athena patted her head. “Chickens were born to fly, but because in general, they were raised in captivity since they were young, they don’t need to fly, and hence, their wings have lost their innate capability.

“These chickens have been running and flying freely since they were young. Coupled with the fact that the environment on the hill is suitable for flying, they can fly very high.”

Josie’s eyes flickered when she heard that. She raised her small hand and said, “Then Josie wants to be like the chickens. In the future, I shall fly high too.”

Everyone laughed when they heard that.

After passing Flychick Hill, it was the Goat Hill.

The Goat Hill wasn’t high. Its slope was gentle and was filled with grass.

Dozens of small and large white sheep strolled in the hills, occasionally nibbling on the grass. That was extremely therapeutic to some.

There was also the Fruit Hill up ahead, and rabbits were sometimes seen hopping around.

Josie was extremely happy to see the rabbits. No one had the heart to tell her that those rabbits would eventually be sent to the butchers.

There were also fish ponds, prawn ponds, duck ponds, and so on.

When they passed by the Donovan family’s burial ground, everyone went up the mountain together and bowed respectfully to their ancestors.

After they came out of the farm, they went to a farm stay at the end of the village and ordered a feast.

Although it was already past two o’clock in the afternoon, the two–story restaurant with a courtyard was still filled with customers and bustling with activity.

There was a small stage in the middle of the courtyard. The stage was equipped with karaoke and a big screen. Guests could go up to sing and dance freely.

Halfway through the meal, everyone asked Josie if he wanted to go up and sing.

Josie raised her small hand and said loudly, “Josie is very happy today. When I’m happy, I feel like singing.” NôvelDrama.Org (C) content.

Athena led her onto the stage and played “You’re Beautiful.”

Josie stood in the center of the stage, holding the microphone with both hands like a tiny green bud holding a pretty little flower.

When the beautiful music started, she closed her eyes and started to indulge herself in the music.

As the melody picked up pace, Josie’s voice bloomed like an angel’s. “I saw your face in a crowded place, and I don’t know what to do…”

The bustling courtyard instantly became so quiet that one could hear a pin drop.

Everyone had their attention on the stage and they looked at the sweet and cute little girl. Their eyes were filled with

amazement.

Although her voice was still raw, it had a pure and clear character, like that of a clear spring in the mountains, without any impurities.

Josie’s singing was nothing technical, but her voice was as ethereal as the winter breeze and lingered in one’s ears, making

Everyone forgot about the food on the table. They only wanted to wallow in this heavenly voice and let it cleanse their souls.

After the song ended, Josie slowly opened her eyes and bowed deeply to the audience.

When the guests came back to their senses they clapped hard and cheered for Josie.

“Hey, little kid. That was amazing! You have the voice of an Angel!”

“I didn’t expect to hear such a beautiful song here. I feel so happy!”

“Little girl, can you sing another song? I’ll give you some candy!”

Waves of applause surrounded Josie in an instant.

Josie used to sing in front of school or people she knew. Today was the first time she sang in front of so many strangers with unfamiliar faces.

She was so nervous that she looked around, not knowing what to do when she suddenly became the center of attention and was cheered by so many grown–ups.

Athena walked onto the small stage and patted her head. “Josie, you sang superbly well. Do you want to sing another song?”

At that moment, the Donovan family had already left their table. They stood by the stage and gave Josie another round of applause.

Josie felt less nervous when she saw her family standing close to her.

She thought for a moment. “Yes, Josie will sing another song.”

Soon, a familiar melody caught everyone’s attention.

Many people exclaimed, “Yellow! I can’t believe that this sweetheart knows how to sing ‘Yellow“”

“Oh my god, this is my favorite song. Best of luck, little girl!”

“I haven’t heard this song for ages. I miss it so much.”

Josie was already immersed in the music and could not hear anyone’s voice. All she did was sing along with the music.

“Look at the stars, look how they shine for you, and everything you do. Yeah, they were all yell

Josie was a happy child.

There was not a tinge of sadness in her voice.

Perhaps that was because she was just a kid, and she sang with her heart, sending her sincere thoughts to the audience.

Many people were almost tearing up.

When the song ended, someone stood up and applauded enthusiastically.

Some people had yet to get over their emotions and quietly wiped away their tears.

Josie bowed deeply to the audience again, put down the microphone, and skipped back to her family.

welcomed her back to the table and gave her some fruits and water. “Josic, you did a great job up there. Come, have

They some water.”
