Chapter 54
At 1 a.m., Monica was exhausted and went to bed.
Trevor leaned against the couch, picked up the cup of coffee on the table, and took a sip.
The taste of the coffee reminded him of the secretary he met that day. He fell into deep thought, but a voice suddenly interrupted his thoughts. "Drink this."
Bennett walked over with a hot cup of herbal tea and placed it softly on the coffee table in front of Trevor. However, his expression was cold. "Did you make this for me?"Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.
When Trevor saw Bennett's cold expression, he couldn't help but smile.
It was the first time Bennett took the initiative to talk to him in the past three years.
"It's just a herbal remedy that I came up with. It would be a waste to throw it away, so it's better to give it to you," Bennett said casually.
After that, he turned and went upstairs. He hid in the corner of the stairs and secretly watched as Trevor drank the herbal tea. It was only then he felt at ease and went to bed. The herbal tea was extremely bitter. However, Trevor thought that it was delicious. He even craved for more.
After all, Bennett had specially made it for him. It was made with love.
The next morning, in order to deal with the hacking incident, Trevor focused his attention on a subsidiary company that specialized in network security.
He woke up early, got dressed, and drove to Candor Union Company.
Many employees of the company walked up to welcome him. As soon as he entered the building, he glanced at the reception counter and froze.
He thought, "Isn't that the secretary of Brightside Union Company who made coffee for me yesterday?"
At the same time, Jessica was panicking, and she wondered, "Are you kidding me? I met him when I was working as a secretary yesterday. Yet, I bumped
into him again today as a receptionist."
However, she soon calmed herself down and politely greeted him.
Trevor turned and left without saying anything.
A female employee at the side saw them exchange glances so she immediately went up to gossip. 'Uessica, do you know Mr. Gulliford? He stared at you for a few seconds. Mr. Gulliford is famous for not being interested in women, but he stared at you." Hearing her questions, Jessica shook her head softly. "It's just a coincidence. I really don't know him."
"That's a pity. Mr. Gulliford is handsome and rich. Furthermore, he is skilled in everything. If he is willing to take a glance at me, I'll definitely pursue him."
"You're right. Most importantly, Mr. Gulliford is not married yet."
"What? But I heard that Mr. Gulliford has a son."
Jessica felt her heart ache as she listened to their gossip.
She thought, "Sadly, Trevor found out about
Bennett's identity and took him away. That is precisely why I asked Alfred to take the other five children away. Poor Bennett has been living without his mother and his siblings for the past few years. It is my fault for being so incompetent." Not long after, the group of people dispersed. After that, Jessica organized the reception counter. It was her first day of work, so she had to memorize the employees and higher-ups of the company to prevent making mistakes.
After studying for the whole morning, she felt exhausted, and her body felt sore. Hence, she went to the pantry, made herself a cup of coffee, and put it on the table.
Before she could take a sip, someone beckoned her to fetch a document.
At the same time, the meeting upstairs had ended. Trevor walked downstairs. Just when he was about to leave the company, he glanced at the time and realized Bennett's school hours were over. With that, he told Bennett's driver to drive Bennett over to the company so that he could have lunch with his son.
Trevor had nothing to do while he waited, so he sat in front of the welcome table. He saw the cup of coffee and thought that it was prepared for guests. Without any hesitation, he picked it up and took a sip. The familiar taste in his mouth once again pervaded his taste buds.
Just then, Jessica returned with the documents in her hand. As soon as she looked up, she saw Trevor holding her coffee in his hands.
"Is this yours?" Trevor asked puzzledly when he saw the stranger staring at the cup of coffee in his hands.
