“Yeah, maybe,” Allison answered vaguely, then grabbed the card and left the office.

Once back at her apartment, she headed straight to her bedroom and called Kellan. “Send a few people to watch the lab tonight. They might be moving the test subjects.”

Kellan’s voice came through the phone, his brow furrowing. “What about you, Allison?”

Allison paused for a moment, then spoke honestly. “I’m going to a banquet with Verruckt tonight. He wants me to go along with it. It’s probably an event where he can’t make a scene, so it should be fine. Don’t worry.”

Gordon’s voice broke in from the other side. “I’ll go with Mr. Lloyd, so you don’t have to worry, Allison.”

Allison thought for a second. “Alright.”

Seeing that others had their roles, Amya asked, “What about me?”

“When I’m not around, you’ll be in charge,” Allison replied seriously. “If I’m right, they’ll block all communications at the banquet, so just stick to the plan.”

“Got it. Leave it to me!” Amya said with a nod.

After Allison ended the call, the doorbell rang unexpectedly. She frowned. No one was supposed to be coming.

Allison quickly recognized Jareth standing outside with a group of people. She opened the door, her expression confused. “Mr. Williamson, I haven’t had a chance to buy clothes yet.”

Jareth nodded, his face serious. “I know,” he said. “But time’s short tonight, so I brought the team to you.”

Before she could say anything else, the house was suddenly crowded with people. Two large clothing racks appeared, covered in dresses of all colors. Without missing a beat, someone guided her to a makeup mirror. As she sat down, one person began cleaning her face and prepping her foundation. Meanwhile, others held up dresses to her.

The stylist looked up and asked, “What do you think of this color?” Allison sighed. “They all look great. Just match them with the makeup.”

The makeup artist next to her was already busy applying mascara. “Miss, your bone structure is the most stunning I’ve ever seen,” she praised, despite working at one of the best salons in Vrining. “Trust me, you’ll really stand out tonight.”

Allison gave a polite smile and responded, “You’re too generous.”

Jareth, unfamiliar with the process, waited patiently in the living room.

Before long, the makeup was finished, and Allison’s hair had been styled with care. From her head to her forehead, delicate silver chains draped across her, giving her a look that seemed straight out of ancient mythology — regal and graceful.noveldrama
