With footage from the nursing home and the snake-shaped necklace still in Allison’s possession, Brook could easily accuse her of theft. If that happened, the necklace would inevitably be declared as evidence of ill-gotten gains and kept by the police for a while. And by the time it was returned to the Lloyd family, Brook was confident it wouldn’t end up in Kellan’s hands.

In an instant, a wave of black-clad bodyguards poured into the room, forming a tight circle around Allison and Kellan.

Their readiness spoke volumes; this wasn’t a hasty move but a calculated one.

“I’d like to see who dares make a move!” Kellan’s sharp eyes blazed with defiance. “Now, Sherman! Bring them out!” he commanded. From the shadows, Sherman and his team emerged, seamlessly stepping into position.

They moved with precision, forming a counterforce against Brook’s men.

Nova, feigning concern, chimed in with syrupy words. “Let’s not make this a spectacle. After all, you’re family, a father and son.”

But inwardly, Nova’s delight was uncontainable. At last, this father-son relationship had hit its breaking point.

She could already see Brook begrudgingly handing the Lloyd family’s reins over to Hoyt.

Just as the standoff reached its peak, an elderly yet firm voice echoed from the staircase, cutting through the tension like a gust of fresh air. “What on earth is going on here?” All eyes turned toward the source, and the servants and bodyguards instinctively parted to make way.

Brook’s face twisted in frustration when he saw who it was. He strode over quickly to intercept.

“Mother, you’ve regained your senses,” he greeted, his voice tinged with surprise and dismay.

He spun toward Jim with a sharp rebuke. “Why did you let her come down? She needs rest! Do you not want your butler position anymore?”

Jim hung his head, his tone apologetic. “I couldn’t stop her, sir. She insisted on coming down herself.”

In reality, he had sensed that something was wrong and had promptly gone to summon Kinslee. “Mrs. Kinslee Lloyd heard the commotion and insisted on coming downstairs to see what was happening,” he added.

At that moment, Kinslee, leaning on her sturdy wooden cane, brushed past Brook without hesitation.

“Why are you so desperate to keep me upstairs? Afraid I’ll catch you mistreating my grandson and Allison?”

Brook scowled, his frustration evident. “Mother, Allison isn’t someone to be trusted. Have you forgotten how she frightened you before? And now, she’s gone as far as stealing from us while staying at the nursing home.”

“You’re accusing her of robbing me?” Kinslee’s sharp gaze followed Brook’s accusatory finger, landing on Allison, who stood surrounded by bodyguards.
