Scars Of A Broken Bond

Chapter 1607

Shirley nearly revealed her own pregnancy, feeling beads of sweat forming on her nose. "Like, my aunt's sister-in-law's sister-in-law wants different food at different times. Her husband's losing patience. They're talking divorce after the baby arrives."

"You seem well-informed." Sergio put on a faint smile.

"Yeah..." Shirley offered a weak grin, relieved. Berating herself for being foolish, she resolved to end her internship soon.

"Ding!" The elevator opened. After bidding Sergio farewell, Shirley hurried out.

Watching her hasty depart, Sergio frowned. Was it just his imagination, or did Shirley appear huge than before? Was it his illusion?

On the second day's early morning, before Sabrina could reach the police station, she received a call from them. "Miss Chavez, the suspect, Galilea Clifford, has taken her own life in jail. She placed a call to you yesterday. Please come to the station."

"What? Galilea's dead?"

"Yes, we discovered it this morning. An autopsy has been performed."

"Alright, I'm on my way."

Ending the call, Sabrina's expression turned grave, her mind filled with apprehension. She had doubted Galilea's honesty. But Galilea's sudden demise in prison seemed too strange.Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.

Sabrina became convinced by what Galilea had mentioned. She realized Galilea had been manipulated. The person pulling the strings behind Galilea got scared Galilea might spill the beans and ended up killing Galilea. This manipulator wasn't just an ordinary person since he could kill Galilea in the prison. Then, Sabrina recalled her car incident. Yesterday's rear-end collision wasn't accidental. It was deliberate, delaying her appointment with Galilea. But who orchestrated it? And what was the manipulator's motive for having Galilea kill Connor back then?

Sabrina's thoughts swirled in confusion as she hurried to the police station.

Thankfully, she had the recording of her phone conversation with Galilea the previous day, which she promptly handed over to the authorities.

As Sabrina exited the police station, lost in thought, someone called out to her. "Sabrina!"

Hearing the voice, Sabrina glanced up to see Tyrone approaching.

Tyrone had rushed to the station upon learning of Galilea's death. Meeting Sabrina here caught him off guard. After a moment's hesitation, he hastened toward her.

Sabrina pursed her lips. "You've heard about Galilea's death?" "Yes," Tyrone replied, his eyes fixed on Sabrina.

"Go in then," Sabrina said curtly, preparing to leave.

Tyrone stepped forward, blocking her path. "Sabrina, can we talk? Let's discuss this calmly. I want to understand your thoughts."

"I don't want to talk right now," Sabrina replied, avoiding his gaze.

Tyrone couldn't decipher her emotions, her demeanor icy and unreadable. Though she avoided conversing with him, their relationship hadn't ended yet.

"So, when can we talk?" Tyrone inquired. "I'll give you time to cool off, but there has to be a deadline."

Sabrina frowned. "Alright, let's talk today. I'll wait for you at the cafe across the street."

"Okay, give me a few minutes. I'll be there," Tyrone replied, hurrying into the police station for a brief chat with Aldrin, before heading straight to the cafe.

Upon entering, Tyrone looked around the room, but Sabrina was nowhere in sight.

"Sir, what'll you have to drink?" the waitress asked.

"I'm searching for someone. Did you see a girl as tall as you earlier?" Tyrone motioned, adding, "She's wearing a light green coat and a black dress."

"No," the waitress shook her head.

Tyrone was taken aback. Gritting his teeth, he exited the cafe. What a crafty woman! Sabrina had deceived him!

Nevertheless, Tyrone dialed Sabrina's number. When she picked up, he inquired, "Where are you?"

Sabrina's voice oozed pride. "Heading home. Goodbye, Mr. Blakely."

Tyrone glared at the phone screen, a smile creeping onto his face despite his anger. But gradually, he felt reassured. He sensed Sabrina's lingering affection for him and her reluctance to part ways. That was a relief.

After the call ended, Sabrina couldn't help but chuckle at the image of Tyrone's frustrated expression when he couldn't find her at the cafe.

As she reflected, a sense of calm washed over her. She wasn't ready to engage with Tyrone, uncertainty clouded her thoughts.
