Ruined(Eternal Monarch)

Chapter 12

Juno’s POV

I’ve been in and out of the hospital since Darrian turned one. My son is perpetually ill. I have no idea what is going on.

Is the moon goddess trying to punish me? Why is my life so tangled up?

Alex chased me out of the room, and now my son and I were completely ineffective in his presence. I’ve returned to square one.

Will someone come to my aid and that of my son? Darrian has been hospitalized for a year. My mother and father liquidated their possessions to cover his hospital fees. I requested money from Alex. He stated that he had no money to waste and that I should work at the packhouse to get paid. I’ve been employed for six months. He has never made any payment to me. He has the funds, yet it is difficult for him to aid his own son. My son is in this state as a result of his deeds. He verbally abused me and kicked me anytime he had the opportunity. I served as his punching bag. Right now, his pack is making fun of me and abusing me. No one is willing to lend a hand. My sole supporter, Alex, made it a point to expel her from the hospital immediately.

Who is going to come and save me from this shithole?

Why is he compelled to be this heinous? He requested that I work for the money, but has not paid me in six months. Now I’m the laughingstock of the pack. Once the mate of an alpha, now a slave. I hope my little champion continues to fight. If anything happens to him, I’m not going to be able to handle it. Alex hadn’t beaten me for an extended period while I was pregnant. My son will be fine by now. He is using my son as a means of punishing me. Every day, he and his Luna make fun of me. I’m not sure why people find delight in others’ misery. My anguish is their joy. I’m out of options. I have no one who can help me. I’m on my own now. I have no one who can help me. I am unable to ask my adopted parents. They have sold their cars to assist my son. Yet, the funds were insufficient. Lilian had taken a test to determine if she was compatible, but she was not. My son requires blood as well as a kidney. Alex is the only possible match, but she claimed my son was a wimp, and he would not help a wimp. He is the root of all evil. My son is in this condition because of him. I’ve only had a good time with him for the past year. I deserve to see him grow and take care of himself and me. This year has been fraught with highs and lows. I rose from the shithole that had been assigned to me as a room and proceeded to Alex’s chamber. I tapped. I’m sure he’s aware it’s me. My deadliest enemy was revealed as the door opened, yet I had to swallow my pride. It was intended for my son. For his well-being.

“What are you looking for?” He asked as he looked at me, disgusted.

I’m curious as to when you want to pay me. I’ve been working for you for six months and have not been paid. That I scribbled on a scrap of paper.

“I was also curious as to when you were going to pay for the meals you and your bastard son had been enjoying for free all this time. Did you believe it was free?”

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Why is he torturing me?

“You are the one who brought this onto our son; the bare minimum you can do for him is helping him.”

You subjected him to such torment when he was in my womb. I presented him with a scrap of paper.

“I knew he’d be a sissy like you. Now get out of here!”

I rose, but I refused to leave without the money he had promised. My mouth was opened to form a word, but nothing came out.

“Did you wish to make a statement? How pathetic,” he laughed,

“you can’t even form a word.”

I sobbed. I was well aware that sticking here for another second would be a waste of time. I lugged my wretched posterior to the hospital. I prayed to anyone, God, moon goddess, or whomever, who could assist me in rescuing my son from this ordeal. I recalled having a wolf in the past. I screamed out to the moon goddess, pleading with her to manifest herself before me. I sat in the chair, my son’s hand in mine.

Darrian, baby. Hold on, son; you must be strong for your mother and yourself. We are going to get out of here. Please, my son, do not forsake me.

He has been battling this for over a year. At times, I feel as though it is too much for him. However, I desire that he fight. He is only a little kid. Let the moon goddess explain why my life must be a farce. A breeze wafted through the ward, and soon a woman appeared.

“Juno, my child.” When I raised my eyes, I noticed a woman patting me. I grabbed a scrap of paper, eager to jot down what I wanted to say.

“It’s all right, child. I am capable of hearing anything you want to say to me.”

Who are you? In the back of my mind, I inquired.

“You may address me as Selene.”

The Moon goddess. She nodded.

“Juno, before you condemn yourself, you should familiarize yourself with your given name. It is rare and one-of-a-kind. You are not a descendant of this epoch. You will depart from this location. This is not the place for you. You will grieve, but you will discover your destiny. Juno, you are a really strong woman. You only need to locate your mate. He will help you discover who you are. You were reborn because he had been waiting for you for years.”

Another mate, I’m not looking for a mate; I despise males. I am incapable of loving again. Never. What do you mean he has been anticipating my arrival?

“You will recognize him when you meet him. You’ll even know his name without him having to tell you. He is the only person who will name your wolf, and you are the only one who will name his wolf or whatever you guys shift into.”

I am not interested in having a mate.

“In due course, my child.”

You are supposed to possess special abilities. Please heal my son.

“It is impossible to heal your son, Juno. You simply need to be prepared for what is to come.”

What are you referring to?

“When the time is right, you will comprehend. Your mate is nothing compared to you. In the end, it is up to you to decide what happens to him. After all this, you will decide his fate. That is if your genuine destined mate does not locate him before you realize your true identity. If he ever discovers him before you discover your identity if ever that happens, he will die by his own hands.”

Please understand that I am not interested in love. That is the polar opposite of what I desire. You have to help my son. Please!

I sobbed and bowed in front of her.

“Juno, you don’t bow to anyone. People will kneel to you, and you will begin to fathom your own identity. Have you ever wondered why you have a wolf but are unable to shift? Allow me to explain, child. That is because no werewolf command would ever work on you. You were born with the ability to lead and command, not the other way around. You will evolve into something more. Prepare yourself for what is to come. Your son has already endured an inordinate amount of pain. Your mate is capable of healing him, but he refused. He is the only one who has the ability to heal your son. Remember, you bow to no one. You are significantly more than you believe. You are going to leave this place. Soon, the manner in which you depart will be irrelevant; you will unearth your purpose.”

Beep! Beep! beep!

I looked around for a nurse or a doctor, then met my mother and father in the waiting area and took my small book so I could jot down what I wanted to say.

Something is wrong with Darrian, mother.

My mother ran to ask for a doctor to check on him, but all of them just looked at my mother and father. As though they were just beggars at the hospital making noise.

“You are disturbing the hospital’s tranquility. You know well that we are operating under Alpha’s orders. We cannot cure your son unless you bring the funds.” One doctor stated,

“Are you sure about that?” Here is the money required, and I have located a suitable match for Darrian. Now, get started. Take care of him. Lilian replied. I couldn’t believe she’d spent the entire time seeking a way to save her niece. I assumed she had abandoned me.

“I’ll have to consult Alpha first,” the doctor stated.

“You have taken an oath. Do you want me to remind

you of your oath as a doctor?”

“Not at all, ma’am.”

We made a hasty exit to Darrian’s ward. My knees buckled under me as we hurried along, and an excruciating pain surged through me. As if someone had reached into my chest and was pulling my heart ever closer to its limit. My legs were shaking, and the doctor came to a halt to assess my condition. However, I signaled him with my hand to go save my son.

“Juno, what is the matter?” My mother inquired. I am unable to breathe. I simply cannot bring myself to yank the notebook in order to express how I felt. It’s excruciating. All I can do is wail. I cursed my muteness. I am unable to speak to myself. I sobbed as waves of misery washed over me. I heard my father pleading for assistance. I clutched my chest in an attempt to alleviate the anguish. However, the discomfort was intolerable.

“Ma’am, it appears as though we arrived too late for the boy.” That is what I recall before collapsing.
