Chapter 1635
Skylar took a deep breath and pushed aside her thoughts. She went to the kitchen, cooked some chicken soup, and heated a few sandwiches she had made earlier and stored in the fridge. Time passed unnoticed, and the sky outside had completely darkened before she knew it.noveldrama
There was no moon or stars tonight, only the glow from some streetlights. She glanced out the window before looking away.
Suddenly, she felt someone standing at the kitchen door. She immediately turned to look and met Joe's deep, intense gaze.
She asked as she walked toward him. "How are you feeling now?"
Without saying a word, Joe immediately pulled Skylar into his arms and kissed her. The kiss was urgent and passionate, as if he needed to confirm that she was real and wasn't just a dream.
"I've been having so many conflicting memories. One of them is about a person named Raven. I met her a few years ago, and what happened next... it's almost exactly like what Elsie described," he said, his voice laced with confusion. Half an hour later, after finishing their chicken soup and feeling warm and content, Joe shared more about his memory.
"Raven?" Skylar murmured, unfamiliar with the name.
Joe had mentioned it briefly earlier when he was delirious. At that moment, a new memory of this person seemed to emerge in his mind.
She hadn't appeared in front of them yet. A negative item wouldn't just randomly insert someone into memory, so Raven would show up soon.
"I don't know her," Joe replied with a frown.
When he first woke up, he felt disorientated, but he quickly regained clarity.
As Paul had mentioned, the extra memories now felt like scenes from a movie. Seeing the seal left on his palm, Joe felt a warm sense of reassurance.
"I'll have Aiken look into this person," Skylar said.
Joe immediately frowned, clearly not wanting Skylar to have too much contact with Aiken.
Skylar smiled and said, "Aiken has been liking a girl for the past few years. She's a friend of Simona. They've been secretly dating, and hardly anyone knows about it."
She actually knew about Aiken's feelings for her a few years ago, but both of them understood that they could only remain friends.
Joe raised an eyebrow. "They're dating? Interesting."
He had thought Aiken would still be as stubborn as always. But it seemed he had finally learned that it was best to let go if something wasn't meant to be.
...
That evening, after arriving home, Elsie began to wait. She waited through the night, watching darkness deepen, and kept waiting as the first rays of sunrise broke through.
She hadn't slept a wink. But by the time the sun dipped below the horizon again, her patience had run out.
"Joe still hasn't come to find me. He knows my phone number, but he hasn't called. Is something wrong? Didn't she say he would regain his memories soon? Why hasn't he come to find me yet?" she questioned.
The woman on the other end of the line remained calm. "After all, Joe has a strong will. For him to truly
believe he has undergone a rebirth, it won't happen overnight. You've already waited this long-what's
another day or two?"
"I'm not worried for myself, but... but Mr. Rowe has contacted me again. He said that there's still no progress after all this time, and he believes I've been deceiving him.
"He wants me to meet him
tomorrow. This is the last deadline. I... I don't have time anymore. Should I go see doe? After meeting with him, he'll be more certain that the memories from his past life are real." The more Elsie talked the more her voice betrayed her rising anxiety.
What do you think?
