Chapter 1574
Sophie had seen it all up to this day. When it came to dealing with big talkers like the warden, she found it downright amusing.
With a simple crook of her finger, she beckoned the warden to come closer. Unfazed, he strutted right into the cell. But before he could get too close, Sophie had already clamped her hand around the back of his neck-a spot that could spell the end with just a squeeze. The warden froze, not daring to make a move, while the guards nearby hovered, unsure whether to intervene. Sophie, unfazed, tossed out a warning, "I wouldn't try anything if I were you. My hand might just slip... and then what? Losing your warden would be quite the headache, huh?"
"Sophie! You're digging your own grave!" the warden spat, glaring at her with all the fury he could muster. To him, Sophie was hanging by a thread.
"In my prison, you're my prisoner! Lay a hand on me, and you won't last the week!" he threatened. But Sophie just raised an eyebrow, and with a swift motion, there was a sharp crack.
The warden's eyes widened in disbelief as he crumpled to the floor, lifeless. The others stood there, stunned.
Dead? Just like that?
"You're out of your mind!" one of the guards shouted, aiming their guns at Sophie, who had just murdered someone right in front of them.
Was there anyone more audacious than Sophie?noveldrama
"Go ahead, shoot. See if any of you make it to sunrise," Sophie taunted, casually perching on the cell's bed "Even if killed him, your boss wouldn't dare lay a finger on me. Better worry about your own skins. Anyone who touches me ends up like him."
She kicked the warden's corpse for emphasis. His eyes were still wide open, as if he couldn't fathom what had happened.
The guards exchanged uneasy glances, intimidated by her audacity. Sophie clearly wasn't just anyone; otherwise, their chief wouldn't have treated her with such deference earlier.
But still, what good was Sophie's power here? She might be a big shot in Devonport, but this was Summerfield. And rumors were swirling about her messy breakup with Colby.
One guard, steeling himself, spoke
up, "Sophie quit messing with us! You're locked up, and you're not getting out. You've killed someone, and I'make sure this goes up the chain. Prepare for a death sentence!"
Sophie shrugged off his words, replying coolly, "I'm here because I want to be. If I didn't, do you think anyone could keep me locked up?" "Stop the bluffing..."
"Enough!" interrupted another guard,
who was visibly shaken from witnessing the murder. "Let's just report this to the chief. This might be our shot at a promotion, so let's not waste it!"
Sophie smiled, nodding at the young guard. "Smart thinking, kid. You've got potential. I'd say you're up next for the warden role."
Just then, a commotion erupted outside. "Trouble! Colby's broken in!" shouted another guard, panic threading through his voice.
