Chapter 1051
Colby kept his cool and asked, "Like what?"
"Rapid-fire questions!"
"Alright, how did you feel when you first laid eyes on the bride?"
"She was adorable."
"???" Adler blinked in surprise. "You thought she was adorable the first time you saw her?"
That doesn't add up.
Adler distinctly remembered that first encounter outside an auction. Sophie had an aura and stance that screamed 'queen ready to defend her throne.'
Cute? Not even close.Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
Angelo was scratching his head too. Sure, Sophie was stunning, but calling her cute was a stretch, to say the least.
Jenna rubbed her chin, not fully satisfied with the answer either. But thinking about how "beauty is in the eye of the beholder," she moved on. "If your first love and your wife were both drowning, who would you save?"
"Sophie is my first love."
"Come on, sis! Can't you ask something juicier, with a bit more substance?"
Adler was losing his patience.
What kind of silly questions were these?
Even a kid could answer them!
Jenna, feeling a bit embarrassed, said, "I'm out of ideas! Should we move on to the next challenge?"
"Fine."
Jenna pulled out a tray of bizarre foods she'd prepped earlier and laid them on the table. "Alright, finish a ghost pepper, a bitter melon, and a cup of white vinegar in under a minute! Then cram a handful of sugar into your mouth."
"Why are we doing this, sis?"
"To taste the full spectrum of flavors before you win the bride!"
"She's getting married soon! How's she supposed to face people after eating a ghost pepper?"
While Adler and Jenna were arguing,
Colby was already munching on the ghost pepper, followed by the bitter melon, white vinegar, and sugar, all in less than 30 seconds.
"Damn! This guy is a legend!"
Angelo was ready to bow down in awe.
"My little brother has really made it. A true Costello through and through!"
Adler shot back, "Your last name is Johnson."
"Minor detail! No biggie!"
Glancing at his watch, Adler fretted, "We've got five minutes left! Anything else? If not, we're taking him!"
"One more! The final challenge!"
Jenna was frantic too, sticking to the agreed three challenges.
She glanced at the two burly bodyguards with Sandy. "Beat these guys in five minutes, and you can take her!"
"What? Those two muscle-heads?"
Before Adler could protest, Colby
rolled up his sleeves and stepped out. The screams of the bodyguards echoed back, followed by Colby strolling
"Good enough atent
Jenna was speechless, and Sandy was getting anxious. "It was just a bet! Why'd you hit my guys?"
"Yeah, who's covering their wages?"
Angelo chimed in, worried about the medical bills.
Adler reassured them, "Relax, Colby didn't go all out. He just made them trip."
Sandy finally scoffed, "I thought he was some terrifying figure. I mean, really..."
"What did you think? It's Colby's big day. He's not going to kill someone over a challenge."
Adler motioned for everyone to head outside.
Colby then walked up to Sophie,
