Chapter 219 Awaken From A Coma
Chapter 219 Awaken From A Coma
"You are?" Jackson looked at that person doubtfully. He combed through his memory but could not
recognise the man in front of him.
"It's me, Larry! You don't recognize me anymore?" The man introduced himself. Jackson had no idea
who Larry or Leslie or whatever name he had. From his name, he assumed that Larry had to be one of
the less noticeable small fry gangsters that he used to hang out with.
"Jackson, when did you come back?" Larry asked him.
"I just came back today!" NôvelDrama.Org owns all content.
"Oh, how come no one knew about your return? My bad. Since I've run into you, let me welcome you
back," Larry said as he reached out his hand and dragged Jackson over to his car beside him.
Even a small gangster like him owned a car. Jackson himself did not even have a home. The
comparison was depressing.
However, having someone care about him was better than nothing. Jackson wanted to find someone to
catch him up on what was going on anyway. So, he decided to follow Larry to a restaurant nearby.
Larry ordered a variety of dishes as well as a nice bottle of wine. Him and Jackson enjoyed their feast
as they chatted away. According to Larry, some of the gangsters that Jackson used to know had gone
overseas, some had retired in wealth, while some were in prison. In short, not many of them were
around anymore.
After the discussion, Jackson realized that he could no longer rekindle his old profession. The
gangsters around were all new now, and they definitely would not accept him as their leader. He started
to become anxious.
How would he survive if no one would listen to him? Apart from fighting and taking advantage of others,
he did not really know how to do anything else.
Jackson thought of his only sister, Rosa. He asked Larry if he knew anything about her and Larry told
him that she had left town to work, he had no idea where she had gone.
Then, Jackson thought of Loraine. Speaking of her, he felt so ashamed. That b*tch was really
something. When he was in his prime, she stuck by him easily and lived off his glory. However, when
he got into trouble, she immediately turned around and acted as if she didn't know him at all. She did
not wait at home for him and even sent his son off to someone else. If he ever found out about her
whereabouts, he would definitely skin her alive.
At present, he had nowhere to go, so he had to ask about Loraine's whereabouts. Considering what
that b*tch had done, she was most likely afraid of him. If he could find her and exploit her, he would be
able to live comfortably for a while.
Larry had no idea about Loraine either. When he heard that Jackson had nowhere to stay and no
money to live, he patted his chest and suggested, "Jackson, if you don't mind, you can stay with me. I
won't let you starve on the streets."
Jackson was elated. What he needed most right now was a place to stay. He was extremely grateful to
Larry. Larry wasn't joking around either, and after dinner, he immediately brought Jackson over to his
place.
Larry's place was pretty decent. Jackson asked him what he was up to nowadays and Larry told him he
helped oversee a nightclub. Jackson's eyes lit up at the mention of this. A nightclub was the perfect
place for him to work, so he asked Larry to help him find a similar job. Naturally, Larry was very
agreeable. He told Jackson to rest a couple days. Once he was well rested, Larry would bring him to go
look for a job.
If it wasn't obvious by now, Larry was not some gangster from Cat Alley, instead he was working for
Edric. Loraine had betrayed the Myers family and done such a horrible thing to his mother despite how
well they had treated her. Edric naturally could not let this pass. It would be going too easy on Loraine
to just throw her in jail. He wanted her to suffer, and as Loraine's ex-partner, Jackson was the perfect
man for the job.
Knowing Jackson's temper, the fact that Loraine had given birth to his son meant that she got labelled
as his woman for life. Without his permission, there was no way she could be with any other man.
However, not only did Loraine remarry, she had also sent Jackson's son away.
That was a huge insult to Jackson. If he knew where Loraine was, there was no way he would not
torture her.
Hence, Edric purposely arranged for his men to wait at Cat Alley for the down-hearted Jackson. First,
he wanted to settle Jackson somewhere else, and then let him in on Loraine's whereabouts. After that,
all Edric had to do was to let the show unfold.
After spending a couple days at Larry's, Jackson asked him again about getting a job. Larry asked
John for help and John told him to bring Jackson to the nightclub for a couple days and wait for his
orders. After receiving his orders, Larry immediately arranged for Jackson to work at the nightclub.
While that was going on, Loraine had already carried out her plan with Cecilia. Cecilia's miscarriage
became known to Edric, who found the incident weird. Although Loraine was ruthless, Rosa's baby was
her grandchild after all, so how could she do that to her own family?
Was there something behind Cecilia's identity? He ordered John to investigate her and ended up
getting a huge surprise. It turned out that Cecilia was Jackson's younger sister Rosa. That meant that
she was Tommy's aunt and they had committed incest. It was no wonder Loraine would act so cruelly.
Edric sneered in his heart. It seemed like he had better tell Tommy what Loraine had done to the child
in Rosa's belly. That would definitely cause a rift between them.
By then, Loraine would have to deal with both father and son at the same time. Edric wanted to see just
how that b*tch planned to get by.
While Edric was busy planning out how to deal with Loraine, he received a call from the hospital. The
doctor had called him to tell him that Margaret was recovering well and she might wake up in the next
few days. Edric was overjoyed by the news. His mother had always been his biggest worry. If she woke
up, he would definitely feel a lot more relieved.
Edric called her caretakers and told them to keep a close eye on her. He instructed them to give him a
call as soon as his mother woke up and they naturally agreed.
In the latter half of the night, Margaret finally woke up from her coma. Her mind was still in a mess. She
looked at the strange environment in confusion. It took quite some time for her to regain her senses.
This was the hospital. She was in the hospital. What was going on? Why was she here? She tried her
best to recall what had happened but her memories were fuzzy. She could recall Marie's ferocious
expression, Deborah's harsh words and Loraine, that demure woman...She had actually dared to hit
her!
Several evil faces flashed before her eyes. They had wanted to give saffron to Irene under her name!
Her grandson! Irene! How were they now? Fear made Margaret squirm in her bed. She could not let
those evil women hurt her grandson. She pulled off her oxygen mask forcefully and tried to sit up.
The sudden sounds woke up the caretakers who were on night shift. Seeing that Margaret was awake
and that she had ripped off her oxygen mask, the two caretakers quickly rushed over. One of them
pressed the bell to ring for the doctor and then called Edric to inform him that Margaret had woken up.
Meanwhile the other went up to comfort Margaret, "Mrs. Myers, please calm down. The doctor will be
here soon!"
"Edric! Quick! H-help me c-call Edric!" Margaret told the caretaker. Meanwhile, the doctor who was on
duty hurriedly came in. He rushed forward to check on Margaret. Seeing that her vitals were stable, he
told the caretakers not to panic as he comforted Margaret, "Mrs. Myers, calm down. Mr. Myers will be
here shortly!"
"The soup, it's p-poisonous! My grandson...Irene…" Margaret's words were incoherent. The caretaker
comforted her and said, "Madam, nothing happened to your grandson. Don't worry!"
How could Margaret believe her? She remembered clearly that that evil woman, Loraine had put a Plan
B pill into the soup that she had sent to Irene. If Irene drank that, she would definitely have a
miscarriage, then Margaret's grandson...
Margaret did not dare to think of what would happen next. She was terrified. She struggled to get off
the bed but because she had been in a coma for so long, her body was too weak. So, she was unable
to get down.
Edric was awakened by the caretaker's call. He grabbed a coat and drove to the hospital in a hurry.
When Margaret saw Edric, she grabbed his hand, "Edric...My grandson...How is he?"
"Mom, the child is fine. Don't worry," Edric took her hand and comforted her.
"What about Irene? Is she okay?"
"Irene is fine as well. Take care of yourself. I'll ask her to bring Eden to see you soon," Edric helped
Margaret lie back down. As long as her grandson and Irene were fine, Margaret felt relieved.
She had just laid down and sighed when she suddenly sat straight up again, "Edric, is that b*tch
Loraine still working in our house?"
Edric nodded. Margaret was extremely worried, "Be careful around that b*tch. She's too vicious! She
colluded with someone on the outside to do this. You have to trap her quickly, if not once she realises
what's going on, she'll escape!"
"Don't worry. After you fainted, I had already suspected that she had colluded with an outsider to harm
you. I've already been on my guard against her! She can't run away now!" Edric answered. Sure
enough, he was right, Loraine was not innocent after all. "Now that you're awake, I can take my time to
deal with her."
"Edric, Loraine is too wicked. She's like a poisonous snake. She caused our family to become like this.
I must deal with her myself. I must ruin her to vent my anger!" Margaret gritted her teeth. If it was not
for her body, she would definitely rush home instantly to give Loraine a harsh scolding.
"Mom, don't get too aggravated. You must take good care of yourself first. I'll take care of the matters
outside. I'll make sure you'll be satisfied!"
"No! Edric, listen to me. It's not just Loraine we have to deal with, there's also Marie and Deborah.
These people have been plotting against us all this while. They single-handedly did this to our family."
"I know, Mom. Don't worry. I'm planning to deal with them. None of them will escape!"
"No! Edric, you don't know everything! Those b*tches thought I would die for sure, so before my
demise, they told me everything," Margaret's expression was full of resentment.
"Do you know why Irene couldn't get pregnant in the three years of marriage with you? Loraine, that
despicable woman, had given birth control pills to her. And Marie, that foul woman, it turns out that
there was nothing wrong with Irene at all. However, she betrayed my trust and told me some nonsense
about Irene being infertile. She purposely created a rift between Irene and I. As for Deborah, in order to
marry her daughter into our family, not only did she drug Irene, she also performed a vasectomy on
Irene. Edric, all these years, we've been manipulated by these people time and time again. We must
take back an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth! None of them can walk away from this!"
Margaret was out of breath from having said so much in one go. Edric quickly used his hand to help
soothe her breathing. He was taken aback by his mother's outburst. He had no idea what there were
still so many secrets unbeknownst to them. It was a good thing his mother had woken up. Otherwise,
he might never have found out just how far that horrid group of people had actually gone.
Margaret slowly calmed down and said, "Edric! Those b*tches are so vicious. We can't just deal with
them normally. We must take our revenge on them tenfold!"
