Chapter 78 KAIDEN STIRLING After Freda left, I sat down beside a silent Harper as many thoughts rushed through my mind. I knew that I had hurt Freda deeply by making her kneel in front of the pack council and apologize for something she didn’t do. Even when she slapped me I didn’t feel any rage towards her, I could only feel the hurt and betrayal she felt against me. I had chosen my reputation over her. And I was a jerk for doing that, nothing I would do or say would ever change that. I glanced at Harper, grateful that she said the truth. I took her hand in mine as I stroked it lovingly. “How are you feeling sweetheart?” I asked tenderly. “I’m fine daddy” came her soft barely audible reply and I gave her a genuine smile. She had been through a lot these last few days and she was just a kid but she still managed to stay strong through all of it and I was so proud of her. We were still having our little moment when the doctor walked in. “Hello everyone I’m Dr Sanders, I’m here to check Harper” she stated and I nodded and moved over to let her check Harper. The next few minutes were spent with her checking Harper’s vitals. After series of medical checks here and there, she kept her stethoscope around her neck and turned to face me and Safiya. اتتحرك ORAN “Good news, Harper is medically fit enough to be dische ed today” she stated with a smile on her face. “Thank you so much Dr Sanders” I replied returning her smile. “Just don’t forget to get the vitamins and supplements we prescribed before you leave, excuse me”, She stated and left the room, “Oh honey, you had me so worried” Safiya stated as she made to touch Harper but I pushed her back and she staggered back with a shocked expression on her face. I hadn’t even noticed she was still in the room. After the stunt she had pulled a few days ago, and after Freda had called her out, she still had the guts to touch Harper She was supposed to be somewhere begging for forgiveness. If Harper had not confessed the truth,

she would have continued to humiliate Freda, Safiya tried to touch me but one hard glare from me had her drawing back. She had gone too far with this one and if she thought I was going to stand by her side or talk Freda out of making her apologize then she was so wrong. “Kalden, why are you doing this? Why are you trying to separate me from my daughter?” She choked as she held back a sob but I was already familiar with her antics now. They no longer had any effect on me. If she wanted us to do this here with our daughter watching then I had no issues with it. She started all this, she might as well see the end of it. I was about to put a stop to her emotional drama when Harper called out to me. “Daddy?” Harper tugged on my arm and I put on a strained smile on my face masking my fury as I turned to face her. “Yes, sweetheart?” “Why did you push mummy away from me?” she asked curiously and I turned to face Safiya who smirked at me and crossed her arms as she looked at me with eyes that challenged me. She seemed to be asking me, ‘can you do this? Do you think you’ll be able to ruin the bond between a mother and her daughter?, Do you think she would believe you?’ Well it’s for her to decide’ I communicated back to her through our eyes. A wave of shock passed through her for a minute before she masked it up. She didn’t think I would do it and she was wrong for underestimating me. Enough of her manipulation. Our daughter deserved to know what her mother had been doing. How she had been ruining other people’s lives. Maybe I was a messed up father for bringing our daughter into our personal conflicts. But this wasn’t a personal conflict anymore. It involved the whole family now because I and Safiya were on the edge of falling out. Harper was old enough to decide which side she’d choose. I turned to Harper as I began to speak. “Sweetheart you asked why I pushed your mother away right?” And she nodded. “while you were sleeping peacefully your mother here has been doing some very bad things”. Then I began to speak, I told Harper about how Safiya had gone around telling everyone I was aText © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

woman beater and how I had been called on by the pack council and was almost removed 148 Vilnefer from my position and Harper’s eyes widened. I knew I shouldn’t be telling our kid about our personal problems but she deserved to know and since I’d already started, I decided to go all the way and break the camel’s back. “She even accused Cisco of pushing you down the stairs and made his mum kneel down in front of the pack council and apologize for attempted Murder “No way”, Harper gasped as she shook her head violently. “Mummy, did you really do all these things? Did you make Cisco’ s mum kneel down to apologize?” “I….”. “Yes she did”, I stated as I cut her off. I wasn’t going to let her try to manipulate Harper anymore. “Harper honey, it’s not true I didn’t……” “No mummy, I don’t want to speak to you. Not until you apologize to Cisco and his Mother for your behavior” she finished and removed her gaze from Safiya as she turned towards me. “I’m tired daddy, I want to sleep”. She stated and she laid down and turned her back against Safiya. I kissed her cheek and stood up to face a horror stricken Safiya. Blood had drained from her cheeks and she looked disoriented. I was almost sorry for her but she deserved it. I might have caused a wedge between mother and daughter but at least the truth was out and I had never felt more relieved.
