Chapter 123 Getting Drugged
Avery was confused and wondered, "Jack was grinning and claiming to bring some seafood to me just
a while ago. What happened?"
She quickly asked where he was and rushed over there.
Jack was weak and leaning on the couch. His face was red like a tomato, and even his voice sounded
like a kitten's. His dark eyes were clear as he stared at her as if he was pleading.
"Avery, I'm freaking hot," Jack said.
Avery reached out and touched his forehead. It was very hot.
She asked, "What else is bothering you besides having a fever?"
Jack had just stayed in the cold wind for a short while. Even if he caught a cold, it wouldn't hit him that
fast unless he was just sick.
Avery used to be a student in medicine. She started thinking about all the diseases with fever
symptoms.
Jack started loosening his tie, impatiently unbuttoning his collar and revealing his charming throat.
And then, he put his hand on Avery's hand and took it.
He said, "Avery, it feels like I'm freaking on fire."
Finally, Avery understood what was going on and withdrew her hand from his hot palm.
She asked, "What did you eat?"
"Just now, while I was getting the seafood for you, I saw some freshly squeezed juice and poured two
glasses of it. I drank half of one and started feeling uncomfortable. I intended to rest a bit and then go
to find you, but my body just kept getting hotter and hotter. Avy, I'm feeling so da*n awful. Am I gonna
die or what?"
Avery stared into his clear eyes. He had just become an adult, and he was like a mix between a boy
and a man, appearing innocent.
He probably had no clue about the real reason.
"No, you won't. Just wait a moment. I'll get a doctor for you." NôvelDrama.Org holds this content.
Avery looked at the two glasses of juice on the table. One was empty, and the other was still full.
She figured out right away that someone was trying to set her up.
Without even having to think about it, Avery knew who was behind it, and she thought, "Layla, are you
so scared of me? You brought this sh*t upon yourself."
When Avery was about to call John, Jack pulled her into his hug. His eyes started wandering as if he
was high on drugs, and he started mumbling, "Avery, I don't want a doctor. I just want you. When you
put your hand on my forehead, I felt so much better. Just touch me!"
Avery was dumbfounded and thought, "Man! This dude is as clingy as a kitten."
She whispered, "You fool! I don't have any medicine. Only a doctor can help you."
Jack had already lost his mind, man. He dragged her onto the couch and planted a kiss on Avery's
neck.
He had a sweet smell like bergamot, just pure and clean like a teenage boy's.
But Avery felt really uneasy with this unfamiliar smell. "Jack, calm down. I'll call and get a doctor right
away."
"I don't want a doctor. I only want you. Avy, you smell so freaking good!"
Avery raised her hand, ready to smack some sense into him, but when she looked at his innocent face,
she couldn't bring herself to do that. After all, he got into trouble because of her.
Before Avery could give that slap, Jack intended to kiss her on the lips.
Suddenly, a loud thud sounded.
Before Jack could touch Avery's skin, someone knocked him out, and his limp head fell on Avery's
shoulder.
As Jack slumped down, Avery caught sight of Jacob's cold face.
"Avery, how are you going to explain this?"
Jacob was gazing down at her, his eyes filled with wrath as if he was about to flare up.
