"Shut up!" Jacob snapped.

"Jacob, I'm the only perfect match for you. Avery is just after your money. She can be with anyone for

money," said Layla.

Jacob disregarded her and walked away.

Layla was pissed off and walked in the other director with a glass of red wine and whispered something

in Sarah's ear.

Sarah used to talk sh*t but never actually doing anything nasty, so she looked a bit nervous. "D-Do we

really have to do this?"

Layla laughed. "Sarah, I've always trusted you and believed you can make great achievements. If you

can handle this sh*t for me, I promise your family will play an important role in Love Layla Hospital."

"Don't worry, Layla. I won't let you down," Sarah responded.

Layla smiled, feeling satisfied. Money talked, and bullshit walked. That was reality.

"Avery, you have nothing left now. Let me see how you're gonna fight against me!" thought Layla to

herself.

Avery and Jack sat together for a while. Jack, being a considerate dude, said, "The show hasn't started

yet. The buffet on this cruise ship is dope. Avery, would you like to grab some grub together? There's a

lot of stuff I haven't told you about Whiskers."

Avery checked the time and found it was indeed still early. There couldn't be a formal dinner at this

point.

"Sure," she responded.

Then, Jack and Avery headed to the buffet restaurant, and Jacob couldn't take his eyes off Avery.

"Avy, how dare you!" Jacob yelled inwardly.

He already regretted letting Avery out. He knew as long as she was around, all eyes would be on her.

Jacob scoffed. "Find out where the f*ck that dude came from."

"Yes, Mr. Hill."

Melodious violin music was sounding in the restaurant, and there were thousands of kinds of food from

different countries. Jack went to the dessert section and hooked Avery up with some mousses. "Avery, I

remember you used to like cakes the best."

"You got a good memory, but as I've gotten older, I can't handle these sweet things anymore," Avery

replied.

"Avery, are you kidding me? You're just 21, in the prime of your life," Jack exclaimed. Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!

Back in the day, Avery skipped a few grades and graduated way before her peers.

In her country, one could get married at 18.

Avery was stunned when she heard her age. "So, I'm only 21."

"Yeah, at this age, most people haven't even graduated from college yet. Avery, this is the time to

shine. You're not old at all."

Jack beamed, radiating that youthful energy only a teenager had.

Avery was only a couple of years older, but she felt like her heart was already dead without any sparks.

Avery looked down at the stuff Jack picked out. Indeed, they were the cakes she used to love three

years ago.

It had been only three short years.

What the h*ll had she been through?

"Avery, look! It's snowing! How beautiful!"

Jack was full of energy. A moment ago, he was still talking about food, but the next second, he was

pointing at the window with a smiling face.

He excitedly dragged Avery to the deck, where the snow was quietly falling under the warm yellow

lights.

Avery reached out, and a snowflake fell on her hand.

She remembered that on the same day last year, it was snowing heavily.

Layla stood next to her on the deck, smirking arrogantly. "Avery, let's make a bet. If we both fall into the

sea at the same time, who do you think Jacob would save?"

Just thinking about that sh*t made Avery's heart ache.

She gripped onto the railing, her eyes full of pain.

Jack became concerned upon seeing her expression.

"Avery, what's wrong?" he asked.

Avery snapped out of that painful memory and looked down at the endless ocean. In the darkness, it

looked like a monster that could swallow everything.

Avery tried to cover up the pain in her eyes and spoke in a softer voice, "Jack, Whiskers doesn't have

much time left. She's already an old cat."

Confused, Jack looked at her. "Well, I'll take good care of her. Don't worry."

"If she dies, please do me a favor and bury her under the plum tree at the Adams house," said Avery.
