Reclaiming Her Heart

Chapter 1255 She Looks Down on You

He stepped out of the bedroom and gave instructions to the maid nearby.

"Clean up the bathroom, get a room ready for her, and make sure someone looks after her. She needs three meals a day, but she can't leave the room."

"Yes, Mr. Montague."

Christopher's alter ego walked downstairs without even glancing at the silent Selena. Selena heard the footsteps but didn't bother asking where he was going.

They were like strangers living under the same roof.

She wasn't afraid of death, so what else was there to fear now?

Raymond was still the president of the Montague Group. He wouldn't lose his position, and that was good.

She forced a smile, but her eyes hurt from crying so much today. She was heartbroken.

When a person was sad and couldn't see, time felt especially unbearable.

So, when she was helped to her room, she asked the maid, "Can you get a TV for my room? I need some noise."

Otherwise, it felt like being locked in prison.

The maid looked a bit troubled. "I'll have to ask Mr. Montague first."

Selena nodded, groped her way to the bed, and said nothing more.

At 2 PM, a man was still lying in bed at Manston Manor, his furrowed brow indicating he was having a nightmare.

Raymond woke up abruptly from the nightmare.

In the two weeks since Selena disappeared, he hardly dared to sleep. Whenever he did,

he had nightmares of her dying silently in some unknown place, of not even seeing her one last time.

The despair in his dreams was overwhelming, but waking up, he found reality even more so.

He calmly stared at the ceiling, confirmed he was at home, then went to the bathroom to freshen up and changed into a suit.

He looked perfectly fine, as if Selena no longer stirred any emotions in him.

When he went downstairs, Paul and Alex were playing chess.

Seeing him, Alex was the first to abandon the chessboard.

"Raymond, you're up? How are you feeling? Honestly, you should just forget about Selena. You saw her attitude. She's crazy about Christopher, always has been. She used you from the start. She's not worth it."

Raymond sat down, a pile of Montague Group documents on his lap, and even had a laptop in front of him.

He methodically handled the documents, showing no reaction to Alex's words.

It was as if he had reverted to the cold, unfeeling Raymond, the one who had begged

Selena to love him in the conference room was gone.

Paul and Alex exchanged glances, unsure of what to say.

By the time Raymond finished the pile of documents, it was already 5 PM.

He stood up and grabbed another stack of papers.

"I have some business to attend to at the Montague Group."

Alex quickly asked, "At this hour? You're not going to sign some stock transfer agreement with Christopher, are you? He's clearly using Selena to get at you. If you sign, that would be foolish. Selena herself said she looks down on you, that she'd only mock you, never be moved."noveldrama

Raymond thought he was numb to the pain, but hearing this felt like a knife to the heart.

"I haven't been to the Montague Group recently, and there's a lot of work piled up. I won't be signing any transfer agreements. One mistake is enough."

Alex sighed in relief. "Glad you see it that way. Honestly, if you think about it, Selena's just a pretty face. Is she really worth all this? If you're feeling down, let's go out for drinks. Sky Gallery has a lot of new faces lately. Want me to take you there?"

Raymond used to avoid such places, thinking they were dirty.

But now, he chuckled, as if he had finally let go. "Sure."
