CHAPTER 34

Chapter 34

“What? She got these when she was a little girl?” asked Damien, sounding perplexed.

“Seems like it.”

Damien slumped down into his seat and dismissed the doctor.

He stared at Aurora’s closed eyes, deep in his own thoughts.

She got these a long time ago?

But when?

When they were married, Damien never paid any attention to the scars and wounds on her body.

The only thing that he knew about Aurora was that she was a spoiled daughter in the Ravenwood’s family, and that was why the Ravenwoods didn’t like her.

…Did Hellen and Paul let her freeze in the snow?

And now that he thought about it…Chloe had some frostbites on her feet as well.

But those came from the time that she rescued him in the forest.

So where did Aurora get hers?

Before he realized it, Damien had already taken a hand to touch Aurora’s face.

…How many secrets did you have, Aurora?

Because Aurora and her soldiers were injured, the training was postponed for a few days.

Luckily, Aurora didn’t stay unconscious for too long. She woke up on the second day, just as the doctor had predicted.

When she gradually opened her eyes, she found a man sitting by her bedside while going through some files in his

hands.

Aurora had to blink a few times to make sure that it was really Damien.

…What was he doing here?

When they were married, he couldn’t even be bothered to check on her when she was sick.

Damien looked up at this time and his eyes lit up with joy instantly.

“You are awake.”

He abandoned his files at once and came to sit on the bed side.

“How are you feeling?”

He reached out a hand to feel her temperature, but she tilted her head to avoid his touch.

“I’m fine,” Aurora said distantly.

Damien’s hand froze in the midair.

“I’m glad to hear it.”

He withdrew his hand slowly.

After a short pause, he spoke up again, “So I asked the doctor to check on you when you were asleep…and I found some old frostbites on your feet.”

Aurora’s face turned cold right away hearing him say that..

“What about it?” she sneered.

“Where did you get those?” Damien asked urgently.

Aurora closed her eyes, vexed.

It had been so many years already…He didn’t seem to care about it in the past. Why bothered asking now?

How she got it?

It was pretty simple.

She got these frostbites when she risked her life saving him in the woods when they were 12.

Aurora remembered every single detail.

Damien was still a naughty little kid back then.

One day, it was snowing heavily outside, he ran deep into the forest without telling anybody and got lost.

His scent and tracks were all buried by the snow.

It was her, Aurora, who went into the forest and looked for him when nobody dared to.

Thanks to Mrs. Ravenwood, she spent a lot of time in the forest. So she knew her way around the forest.

Eventually, she found him under a giant oak tree, almost froze to death.

Wrapped him in her coat, little Aurora carried him on her small shoulders and headed back home.

Damien was already taller than her back then. To keep his feet off the ground, Aurora had to stand straight with all

her might.

She even lost her shoes in the snow and didn’t have any strength to get them back.

It took her 5 hours to go back to the city.

She got up to an orphanage and passed out. The patrolling soldiers must have found them and send them back home. When she woke up, she was back at home already.

She thought that special experience would bring them closer.

But no.

It was when Damien started to grow cold to her.

Soon enough, Chloe came into their lives. And everything changed.

She regretted risking her life saving a heartless jerk. But it had been more than 8 years already. River under the bridge. She didn’t care about it anymore, so why bothered asking her about it now?

Aurora opened her eyes again. She had clamed down.

“It is none of your business, Alpha Damien.” she replied aloofly, “I am not your pack member anymore. So I am not obligated to answer any of your questions.”

Damien seemed irritated by her cold attitude.

Damien clenched his fists, irritated, “None of my business?! You were my Luna for fuck’s sake…”

The door flew open with a huge bang, interrupting him.

S group of people poured in.

“Aurora!”

Lance cried loudly in joy and rushed to the bed side.

“Thank god you are alright!” He bent down to kiss Aurora on her forehead, “I was so worried!”

A bright smile came back to Aurora’s face.

“How is Rivena and Kaelan?” she asked.

“They are all doing great. They wanted to come here and visit you as well. But the doctor insist that they should stay in bed a little longer.”

Damien stood frozen by the bedside.

He looked furious, especially when he saw how happy Aurora was when she met Lance.

“Guards!” Damien snarled, “I said no visitors! Who let them in?”

Lance straightened his back and leered at Damien, “I am Aurora’s brother! Whereas you are just a total stranger to Aurora. You have no right to keep us out!”

Damien clenched his fists.

He was furious. But he couldn’t argue back.

He rejected Aurora himself. He was no longer her mate nor her Alpha.

It was his own doing.

Glen was among the group of visitors as well. He went forward and placed a bunch of flaming red roses in Aurora’s

arms:

“My Alpha has heard about what happened. But sadly, he still has business to dealt with in our pack and can’t come to visit you. He hopes you get better soon.”

Aurora smelled the roses, “Thank you. How is Alpha Jared?”

“He is doing well,” Glen beamed. “He just misses you very much and can’t wait to join you in the training.”

Damien’s face turned even darker when he heard about this.

That Jared was such a fuckboy!

Aurora would be a huge idiot if she ever fell for him!

Yet to his irritation, he heard Aurora’s brisk voice saying, “I miss him too. Look forward to seeing him here as well.”

“Aurora.”

Damien interrupted their conversation sharply.

Don’t you want to know about the map?”

He had to stop them talking right now or he would be exploded with rage.

Aurora immediately turned to him as he expected.

“Right, about the map. Have you found the man who gave me the map yet?”

“I have.”

Damien beckoned over a guard and asked him to bring everybody here.

15 minutes later, Baron, Bobbie, Maxie, and the man who handed them the map were all brought into the room.

Damien stood in front of them with a dark face and said:

“Today we are here to figure out the truth about the incident. Just know that I will not act on your favor just because you are my pack members. Speak the truth and you might be pardoned for you crimes.”

His eyes traveled across each one of them.

“Who wants to begin?”

Baron and Bobbie seemed anxious.

Maxie lowered her head so nobody could see her face. NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.

The man looked like he was going to shit his pants in fear.

Eventually, the man broke first and suddenly cried out in dread:

“Alpha Damien! Please forgive me! I–I had no choice! I was pressured-

“By whom!” Lance snarled.

The man chocked with sobs, “Promise me that you will protect me after this…Or…I will be skinned alive for speaking out the truth…”

“You are in no position to ask for a pardon. But if you keep on lying, I will make sure that you die in the most miserable way possible,” said Damien ruthlessly.

The man shivered, terrified.

“Hurry. Speak up! Who is it?” Lance urged, “Is it Baron?!”

“What the hell! I have nothing to do with it!” Baron cried.

But nobody looked at him.

All eyes were on that man.

Even Aurora was staring at that man intensely.

She was convinced that Baron was the one who gave her the wrong map. She just needed the man’s testimony.

Slowly, the man raised his hand and pointed at a certain person.

.But it wasn’t Baron.

He was pointing at the female warrior, Maxie.

“She did it!” the man cried, “She asked me to do this! She is the one!”
