Reborn From Oblivion

Chapter 772

Nathalie didn't say a word, but her hand lightly rested on his shoulder, as gentle as a butterfly—so delicate and hesitant, carrying a touch of cautious fear.

He visibly stiffened.

"I heard Ashley wants to see me?" he asked, his voice as calm as a still pond.

Nathalie moved around to face him. Since he was in a wheelchair, she had to crouch down to meet his eyes.

"I'm so foolish," she suddenly burst out, tears streaming down her face.

"I've seen you before, yet how could I not recognize you?"

"You helped me convince that detective to reveal the truth about my mother's tragic incident. I thought it was just a small favor from you."

"How could I have been so blind? You were right there beside me, always looking out for me, yet I didn't see you."

As she wept, she buried her face in his lap, her body shaking with sobs. "Nathan, I'm sorry, I was such a fool."

Number 13 watched her with a blank expression, perhaps not even realizing how gentle and affectionate his gaze had become.

He slowly lifted his hand, wanting to touch her, but he held back his desire.

If he couldn't offer her anything, it was better not to give her false hope.

"Ashley, I think you've got the wrong person."

Nathalie lifted her tear-filled eyes and insisted, "I'm not mistaken. You are my Nathan."

She began to cry again, "Nathan, please don't deny me. I know I was wrong."

"The reason I didn't recognize you last time was because there was another Nathan by my side who looked so much like you. It clouded my judgment, made me think he was you. At that time, he was all I could see, how could I notice anyone else?"

"But now I know he wasn't you, I'm sure you're my Nathan. When I sent you away your scars, your vision, your legs they weren't healed. But... why haven't they healed after all

these years? Didn't you promise me you'd see a doctor?"

Number 13's body suddenly shook violently.

He abruptly pushed Nathalie away, wheeling himself into the corner.

His once strong and towering presence now seemed as forlorn as a leaf caught in

the autumn wind, dancing aimlessly without any will of its own.

Nathalie accidentally fell to the floor, but she forgot the physical pain, because

Nathan's instinctual reaction hurt her heart even more.

Sitting there, she closed her eyes, tears streaming down her cheeks.

"Nathan, I didn't mean to reopen your wounds. I'm just in so much pain," her voice trembled. "I regret it If I had known it would come to this, I would never have sent you home. Oh, how I regret it," she suddenly broke down, sobbing uncontrollably.

Number 13 looked back in alarm, seeing Nathalie sitting helplessly on the floor. He returned to her.noveldrama

Reaching out his hand, he said softly, "Get up. The floor's cold."

Nathalie threw herself into his arms, wrapping her arms tightly around his waist.

Now, there was no escaping her embrace.

"Nathan, tell me, please. What happened? Why did your injuries get worse after you went home?"

"What did they do to you? Tell me, and I'll fight for your justice."

Number 13 gently pushed her away, his face ashen.

He refused to let her fight those vile people on his behalf.

"Do you not want me anymore, Nathan?" Nathalie asked, her tearful eyes searching his face.

By now, she had guessed that when Nathan returned home, the beautiful future they had dreamed of was a

lie. What awaited Nathan must have been a nightmare.
