Chapter 9
Seven days later.
Old Malone’s birthday banquet.
Willette called Nydia early.
“Nydia, is Jesse coming with you?” Willette asked.
“Yes, we are all going together,” Nydia replied.
“Great, dress up nicely,” Willette reminded her.
“I will, sister. See you later,” Nydia said before hanging up.
After the call, Nydia put on the haute couture dress that Jesse had specially bought for her, which she had never worn before.
The dress was a very light blue, with a blue enchantress embroidered on the hem. The blue gradually faded upwards, giving a gradient effect, as if the blue enchantress was blooming in a lake, rippling and spreading out countless small blue enchantresses. Nydia looked like a painting, with a hint of allure in her elegance.
When she stood in front of Jesse, even after he had seen her for five years, he was still amazed.
“Wow, Mommy, you look so beautiful!” Molly exclaimed, running to Nydia’s side and circling around her. “Daddy, take a picture of me and Mommy.” She posed for the camera.
At first, Tavish thought it looked nice, but when he saw Molly’s behavior, he frowned disapprovingly, though he didn’t say anything.
Jesse took out his phone and took a picture of Molly and Nydia.
Nydia walked over and placed her hand naturally on his shoulder, whispering softly, “Jesse, send me the photo, thank you.”
As she passed by him, her fingertips brushed his neck, causing a tingling sensation that dissipated.
He turned to look, but Nydia seemed unaware and had already picked up her bag, smiling at them. “Let’s go, we’re leaving!”
On the way there, Jesse’s gaze occasionally fell on Nydia. She sat quietly, hardly saying anything except when Molly spoke to her, at which point she would smile and exchange a few words with her.
Jesse was not only amazed by Nydia’s beauty today, but also surprised.
In the past, when they went to the Malone Villa, Nydia never dressed up properly, often wearing casual clothes and not even wearing makeup. But today, she wore the haute couture dress he had bought for her and had put on delicate makeup.
Was it for Barclay?
Thinking of this, Jesse’s face darkened, and he no longer looked at Nydia.
To celebrate Old Malone’s birthday, the Malones had booked a five-star hotel to host the guests.
Everyone who came to the party today was an elite from all walks of life.
From afar, Nydia saw Willette and Barclay standing at the entrance.
She walked slowly over, always beside Jesse’s wheelchair, neither fast nor slow.
Jesse and his assistant both looked surprised. Normally, at this time, Nydia would have run to see Willette and wouldn’t want to walk with him.
“Sister, we’re here.” She smiled standing in front of Willette and Barclay, her smile elegant and impeccable, her gaze studying their faces inch by inch.
The battle had begun!
When Willette saw Nydia, she couldn’t even hide her surprise on her face. Subconsciously, she turned to look at Barclay and noticed him staring at Nydia. Her intuition told her that Barclay was amazed by Nydia’s beauty. She approached Nydia and said with a smile, “Nydia, you look so beautiful today!”
“Really? I have to thank you for insisting that I dress up nicely. I was worried that if I didn’t, you would be angry. It seems that you are very satisfied, so I’m relieved.”
“…” You don’t have to be so obedient!
“Mr. Pascall.” Barclay and Jesse greeted each other.
Jesse nodded with a cold expression.
Willette bent down and looked at the two children, “Molly, Tavish are here, looking like princess and prince today. They’re so cute, come on, let Mrs. Malone hold you.” She reached out her hand, but the two children stepped back two steps and didn’t let her hold them.
At this point, there were still many people watching on the side, and it was a bit awkward.
“Are Molly, Tavish still so shy?” Willette withdrew her hand and said to Nydia.
This remark made people feel that the two children were too sheltered and lacked manners.
“They’re not shy at all. They just don’t like the perfume on you today.”
Jesse and Tavish were both surprised. In the past, Nydia would always give them a cold look and say, “Don’t mind them.”
Tavish’s reaction was quick, he gently covered his mouth and sneezed. “Sorry, I don’t like this smell… Achoo!” He sneezed again.
Willette’s expression immediately turned unpleasant because everyone’s eyes were different, as if criticizing the perfume she was using. There were definitely many children in attendance at such an event.
“Sister, we go in first. See you later.”
The family of four and their assistant entered the inner hall where many people were already seated. When they entered, they naturally attracted countless gazes.
Even though Jesse was sitting in a wheelchair, he still had extraordinary bearing, and combined with his handsome and chiseled face, he appeared both handsome and pitiful.Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
Nydia was absolutely stunning today, and every move she made was the center of attention.
The slit of the dress is positioned slightly above the knee, revealing glimpses of long legs as she walks. Her high heels seem to be treading on everyone’s heart, tightly grabbing their attention, making it hard to look away.
Someone approaches Jesse and Nydia to say hello.
“Mr. Pascall, Mrs. Pascall, long time no see.”
“Mr. Whitehead, nice to meet you,” Jesse responds as Nydia stands elegantly beside him, smiling.
“Mr. and Mrs. Pascall are truly a match made in heaven, it’s enviable,” he says, then turns the conversation. “But… forgive my presumption, at first, I almost mistook Mrs. Pascall for someone else. She seems different from the last time I saw her.”
Nydia knows this person, Arnold Whitehead, who often opposes Jesse in secret. He has not been shy to mock Jesse about his leg injury, and he also knows that Nydia and Jesse do not get along.
“What is it that makes you think I’m different, Mr. Whitehead?” Nydia’s hand lightly rests on the back of the wheelchair, and she leans slightly against it, giving no indication that they are not on good terms.
“It’s mainly because Mrs. Pascall is dazzling today, too charming,” he says.
Jesse’s face turns cold, and he sharply glares at Arnold.
