Chapter 1441 Emmeline’s Engagement.
“Emmeline?” Alana was surprised, and her eyes widened in astonishment.
Does she know Emmeline?
“Who are you?” asked Alana cautiously.
“I’m Sophia, Sophia answered. “I recognize this car; it belongs to Emmeline.”
“How do you know her?” Alana frowned.
“And what’s your relationship with her?” Sophia countered.
“I am- Alana wondered about her relationship with Emmeline and then blurted, Tm Emmeline’s friend, Scarlett.”
“Emmeline’s friend, Scarlett?” Sophia looked at the Buick Regal. “No wonder you’re in this car.
“Emmeline is getting engaged,” Sophia went on. “As part of the bridal entourage, you should be helping with the preparations.”
“Engaged?” Alana’s eyes widened. Emmeline is getting engaged? With Abel?
“I haven’t heard her mention it,” Alana probed. I didn’t even know she had a boyfriend.”
“Isn’t it Albus Zeller from Altney Steel?” enquired Sophia. The Zeller family agreed to the engagement next month. Did I make a mistake?”
“You mean Albus?” Alana quickly pretended to have a sudden realization. “I know about him. I’ve met Albus.
This sudden news made Alana’s heart beat faster. Emmeline was getting engaged to someone else! This warrants a huge celebration!
Alana was so excited that she couldn’t think straight. Just then, she saw Abel and Dylan at the intersection, heading back toward her.
“Do you have a phone number?” Alana quickly asked Sophia. Let me save your number.”
Sophia gave her own number to Alana, and Alana dialed it and said urgently. “This is my number. You can call me.
“That’s great!” Sophia exclaimed excitedly. “I love getting to know people with high class like you!”
Seeing Abel about to approach, Alana told Sophia, “You better leave quickly. I have something to do!”
Sophia tactfully turned around and left while Alana returned to the back seat of the car. After dropping off Dylan at the hotel, Abel went to escort Alana home.
At that moment, his phone rang. It was Emmeline calling.
Abel’s heart skipped a beat as he quickly answered, “Emma?”
“Abel, have you finished your dinner with Mr. Carson?” Emmeline asked softly. Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
“Yeah!” he replied. “I just dropped him off at the hotel and am heading back to Altney Steel now,”
“Well–Emmeline sounded choked up for a moment. “Maybe you shouldn’t come back tonight.”
Abel’s heart skipped a beat in the silence as he furrowed his brows. “Emma, what happened again?”
Emmeline sighed. “Mom caught us again and scolded me. I’m afraid that she’ll get angry at you come back!”
He felt a heavy weight in his heart. “Why does this never end?”
“That’s why I’m so worried, she murmured. “Don’t come back tonight. Come pick me up early tomorrow morning.
“But Emma-”
“I’ll be fine.” Emmeline knew Abel was worried about her. “Don’t keep getting concerned about me, and take care of yourself!”
“Alright.” Abel hung up the phone, feeling heavy.
“Abel, whispered Alana from the backseat. “Aren’t you going back to your home at Altney Steel?”
“What’s it to you?” Abel’s mood was terrible, and his tone was cold.
“It’s still early.” she suggested tentatively. “Why don’t. Why don’t I accompany you for a walk?”
“There’s no need for it!” Abel said. “I have to go back to Altney Steel, even if I just remain downstairs tonight!”
“Is it necessary?” She frowned. “Even Emmeline doesn’t want you to go back.”
“It’s none of your business!” Abel replied coldly. “Get out of the car and go back home yourself!”
Alana sneered but didn’t say anything, and she obediently opened the car door and got off. She sneered in her heart.
So, the influence of that phone call is so far–reaching, huh? She met Sophia tonight, who can also be used too!
After watching the car disappear around the corner, she hailed a taxi. “Ryker Group headquarters, Glazer Street.
A few minutes later, Alana arrived at Abel’s residence at the company. After pushing the aluminum alloy window open, she took off a silver lily–shaped hairpin from her head and threw it into the bedroom. It was too light and didn’t land on the bed but instead on the floor next to it.
“Hmph! That’s already enough.” Alana laughed darkly.
