When asked what ride Deasy dislikes the most when visiting an amusement park, she firmly mentions the Roller Coaster.
Compared to the thrill of the ferris wheel, carousel, or the dollhouse filled with pretense, for some reason, Deasy regards the Roller Coaster as a game that absolutely does not suit her.
On one side, she feels her body soaring so high as if it can touch the sky. At times, she also feels dropped, plummeting as if falling into the deepest abyss.
This feeling is exactly the same as the fate Deasy often experiences. For her, the challenges of life alone are enough to get her adrenaline pumping.
There’s no need to ride the attractions; she already feels her life going through extreme ups and downs. Just imagine, back when her father was still around, Deasy experienced what you would call her heyday. But when her father was no longer there, she fell into a slump.
The same goes for matters of the heart. The last time she felt happiness was when she planned to marry Lucas. But due to one mistake, that beautiful plan suddenly vanished.
“If you fail to win Lucas’s heart, just take the lessons from it, Des. Life is full of trials, right? If it’s just a few, we call them ‘tests.'”
The cursed words Veronica gave her when she had just broken up with Lucas continue to echo in Deasy’s mind.
Indeed, Deasy tries not to sink into despair. Especially when she hears the news that Lucas is going to marry his former fiancée. As much as possible, Deasy strengthens her heart. She even decides to attend and congratulate him.
However, Deasy had prepared everything. She intentionally came to Lucas’s wedding with the intention of giving him a surprise. But instead of Lucas being surprised, it’s she who receives an unimaginable shock.
“W-what did you just say? G-getting married?”
Deasy was momentarily stunned. Her brain seemed to slow down as Lucas asked a question beyond her anticipation.
“Yes, Des. Do you want to marry me? To become my wife and the future mother of my children?”
Once again, Deasy blinked. Instead of answering directly, she raised her hand and intentionally pinched her arm.
“Arghh!” Deasy reflexively exclaimed. The pain from the pinch she inflicted felt real, leaving a red mark on her left arm. “Pain. That means this isn’t a hallucination or a dream, right?”
Lucas smiled and shook his head.
“It’s not a dream, Des. It’s real. I’m really here. Standing in front of you, asking you to marry me. Do you want to?”
“Hold on a second,” Deasy objected. She even took a step back, intentionally creating distance between herself and Lucas. “Why all of a sudden, with no wind, rain, or tsunami, are you asking me to marry you? Aren’t you and Devina supposed to be the newlyweds tonight?”
Once again, Lucas smiled. He displayed that typical smile that always managed to stir strange feelings within Deasy.
Deasy couldn’t deny that she had missed the man in front of her. If she weren’t so self-conscious, she would want to tightly embrace Lucas, who was now confusing her.
“The story is long, Des,” Lucas said. “But one thing’s for sure, I planned the wedding tonight for both of us. For me and you. Not for me and Devina. From the beginning, I wanted to marry you.”
“But isn’t Devina pregnant?”
Lucas burst into laughter. He remembered that the idea of saying Devina was pregnant with his child came from Veronica, who deliberately wanted to make Deasy jealous.
“No,” Lucas shook his head repeatedly. “Devina isn’t pregnant at all. She said that on purpose because she wanted to tease you and make you jealous.”
Darn it!
Deasy cursed silently. She couldn’t believe she actually thought Devina was pregnant with Lucas’s child. She even wondered when Lucas had impregnated Devina, given that he was more often with her. Just by looking at him, it seemed impossible that Lucas had multiple partners.
“I’m not a vegetable, Luc. No need to heat me up like that.”
Lucas couldn’t help but laugh. Even though they were in the middle of a serious conversation, Deasy managed to respond with her usual humor.
“I know you must be confused. Earlier, I want to apologize for neglecting you or even doing things that must have hurt your feelings.” Lucas stared intently, locking eyes with Deasy and then gripping her wrist, holding it tightly. “By God, there’s a reason I did all of that. I’ll explain everything from the beginning to the end after you answer my marriage proposal first.”
“Does it have to be answered right now?”
“Yes, it does,” Lucas nodded repeatedly. “The guests are waiting for us.”
Deasy immediately raised an eyebrow. Guests? Where were they? She had been standing in the ballroom, and the only person she had seen was Lucas.
“Guests from where? It’s so quiet,” Deasy scoffed. Who knows, maybe Lucas was just making things up again.
“The guests aren’t here, Des. They’re in the main ballroom. They’re all waiting for the two of us.”
Deasy fell silent once more. She didn’t know what to think. Meanwhile, Lucas seemed impatient. He checked the watch on his wrist several times.
“Come on, darling… what do you say?”
The term ‘darling’ that Lucas used so tenderly caught Deasy’s attention. After all this time, she could finally hear Lucas calling her by the affectionate name he had often used before.
“Honestly, I wouldn’t mind marrying you, Luc. But… I’m also thinking, what’s really going on here? I feel like I’m being played.”
Once again, Lucas tried to reassure Deasy. Aware that time was running out, Lucas briefly explained, hoping that Deasy would trust him and agree to the request he had made earlier.
“Later, after the event, I’ll explain everything from the beginning to the end. You don’t need to worry, and besides, everything I’ve done to you recently, up to this moment, was with the help and advice of Mom, Veronica, and Devina.”
Deasy was increasingly shocked, surprised, and bewildered. From Lucas, she learned that Mama and Veronica were also involved in this game.
“W-what? So, they were all involved?”
Lucas nodded repeatedly.
“Yes, darling. Even the dress you’re wearing right now was specially chosen by Devina.”
“Oh my goodness.”
Deasy fell silent again. It seemed that she had been made an object of amusement since yesterday.
“Darling…” Lucas called once more. “What do you say? Do you want to? Come on, we’re being awaited by a lot of people. Do you want to accept my proposal to get married?”
After weighing the pros and cons, thinking about the good and bad, Deasy finally nodded. It was like hitting the jackpot, and she’d be a fool to refuse.
Even though she was confused, a bit annoyed and angry because she felt like she was being played, it didn’t matter. That could be sorted out later. Deasy promised herself that she would settle the scores after officially marrying Lucas. For now, the important thing was to establish her status and relationship.
From the beginning, Deasy was aware that she was the source of the problem. But if Lucas was willing to accept her again and was now proposing marriage, why should she insist on preserving her ego by forcing herself to leave?
It wasn’t about having no self-esteem. It was more about being realistic. Deasy wanted to try to let go, but she also recognized the immense love she had for Lucas.
So, the final choice Deasy made was to accept. After all, good opportunities rarely come twice. Once again, settling scores and seeking retribution could be done after the wedding was official, right?
“What do you think, darling?”
Asked for the umpteenth time, Deasy nodded confidently right then and there. She agreed with Lucas’s offer to marry her tonight.
After getting the green light, Lucas immediately handed Deasy over to one of the wedding organizer staff for a briefing just before the start of the wedding procession.
Once everything was ready, Deasy received a surprise. It turned out that Sean, who had been chosen as her companion for the evening, was replacing her father.
Passing through several rituals, Deasy was asked to enter the event space. As she walked in, all the guests’ eyes were immediately drawn to her.
Admiration was evident in the eyes of all the guests as they saw Deasy’s stunning appearance that evening.
Deasy herself could see that the guests in attendance consisted of close family and a few VIP friends and colleagues. Truly, the wedding party Lucas had prepared seemed intimate and very private, meant for a select few.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Lucas was already standing, beaming with a wide smile. As Deasy reached her position, Sean handed her over directly to Lucas to commence the wedding procession.Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
The sacred marriage that Lucas and Deasy had always envisioned had finally come to fruition. Exchanging vows of lifelong faithfulness, they officially became husband and wife.
There were smiles, laughter, and tears clearly visible in Deasy’s emotions. She was deeply moved that they were finally reunited and now officially Mrs. Morales.
