Chapter 7 How Dare You?

A hoarse and powerful voice pierced through the air and immediately captured their attention.

Antonio who was overcome with anger subconsciously let go of Adelaide as he looked in the direction

of the source of that powerful voice.

“Grandma, why are you here?” A trace of doubt crossed his face.

In response to Antonio suddenly letting go of her, Adelaide who was already weak in the first place

plopped to the floor like a cotton bud. She heaved a sigh of relief as if she had been hoping for this to

happen all along.

All of a sudden, Antonio’s face was swept over by a vague expression.

The old lady whose name was Hermosa was standing at the door and she was approaching them with

the help of her cane and helped Adelaide up to her feet. She examined Adelaide’s lethargic face and

shook her head sympathetically, “My dear, you have suffered a lot!”

She then turned around and faced Antonio, “You ungrateful child, you are able to marry such a nice

The old lady was reprimanding Antonio vehemently as she helped Adelaide to the side safely. At the

same time, she was hammering her cane on Antonio’s body to make her opinion clear.

“Grandma!”

Antonio’s expression was pretty hideous at the moment, but even he wouldn’t dare to refute his

grandmother. He didn’t shy away from her beatings at all. He just stood rooted to the spot as Hermosa

continued to whip her cane at him. While he was being beaten up, he slightly cocked his head and

eyed Adelaide.

Did this woman learn how to be calculative? She even knew to implore someone else to help with her

situation.

Adelaide only felt a disgusting shudder swept through her body. She immediately hugged her knees

and curled up into a ball. She was shivering with fear.

She had known long ago that she could never hide everything from Antonio, and he would definitely be

“Why are you glaring at her?”

“Let me warn you, putting aside the fact that Adelaide is pregnant now, even if she isn’t pregnant, I will

still skin you alive if you dare to harm her in any way!”

“You are really sinful. Not only you didn’t take care of your own wife well, you even pay attention on

those messy girls out there. You are really an embarrassment to the Baron family!”

Hermosa continued to berate Antonio while hitting him with her cane. Both Antonio and Adelaide knew

who Hermosa was referring to and they knew that she was never fond of Clarissa in the first place. In

an instant, Antonio’s expression became uglier than earlier.

Hermosa was just not trying to scare him with his empty threats; she was actually hitting Antonio’s body

without reservation. Part of his skin was already bruised because of her beating but Hermosa seemed

like she was not planning to let up.

Antonio continued to stay there motionless without uttering a word as he continued to endure her

beating with a grave expression.

He was being brought up by Hermosa since he was young, so she had contributed to his success of

today. Therefore, it was only natural that he always had immense respect for Hermosa. That was why

he never dared to oppose her no matter what she had done.

Finally, Adelaide couldn’t stand the sight anymore as she clambered forward to stop Hermosa.

“Grandma, stop hitting him. He will always be fine, but what if you are injured…”

Seeing that Adelaide was imploring her, Hermosa paused slightly before deciding to stop her actions.

She let out a helpless sigh after that.

“My dear, it is precisely because of your softness that this ungrateful child has become more and more

outrageous. If I don’t teach him a lesson now, he would never learn of his mistakes!”

However, Adelaide shook her head animatedly, “That’s not true, he has been treating me very well. It

was my fault for provoking his anger…”

As she said that, a bitter smile appeared at the corner of her lips. Wasn’t she right about this? He was

always nice towards her and he was always an image of excellence and kindness in her heart. Or else,

she would never fall heads over heels for him for so many years.

“Don’t try to spout such fake words!”

When she finished her sentence, Antonio cut her off abruptly and coldly.

“Trying to be so hard-headed again?”

Hermosa was immediately enraged once again. She glared at Antonio and her gaze successfully

rendered him speechless, not daring to argue with her anymore.

Hermosa was in their presence for a long time, but in the end, this was still Antonio and Adelaide’s

house. She couldn’t help but let out a sigh and gave Adelaide a piece of advice. If Antonio were to bully

Adelaide, she were to inform Hermosa of such happenings. She would swoop over immediately to

teach him a lesson.

Adelaide replied with a bitter smile but she knew very well that there would be no next time after this.

This would be the last time Antonio would endure like this. He wouldn’t let her gain the upper hand like

this again ever again. As long as she could preserve the child in her belly, Adelaide wouldn’t care about

anything else. On the other hand, Antonio continued to stand rooted to the spot without even making a

sound.

Finally, Hermosa made sure once again that her thoughts were clear. If something were to happen to

the child in Adelaide’s stomach, she even claimed that she also didn’t want to continue living anymore.

She finally left after casting a glare at Antonio.

However, as soon as Hermosa left, Antonio abruptly pushed Adelaide and she stumbled onto the sofa.

“How dare you tell grandma about this?”
