Yet, he interpreted her words differently. He felt as if he were over the moon. Nadine still cared about him! Why would she be so gentle if she didn't?

Honestly, a small cut like this was nothing to him. He was doing her a favor by allowing her to tend to it. If it weren't for the fact that he was trying to get closer to her, he wouldn't have bothered at all.

Even though she was being as gentle as possible, he made a point of sucking in a sharp breath through his teeth. After all, the squeaky wheel got the grease.

If he didn't make it seem like it hurt, Nadine might actually believe it didn't. So, the moment the iodine touched his wound, he let out a long, drawn-out hiss.

Noticing his discomfort, she lightened her touch even more and even blew gently on the wound. "It'll be over in just a second." Once she was done disinfecting it, she applied a bandage over the cut. The whole process took less than 30 seconds.

Brad had already mapped out their entire future together in his head. He even pictured them in their twilight years, strolling hand in hand along the shore, their conversation filled with laughter and warmth.

Unlike Brad, Nadine didn't have nearly as many thoughts swirling in her mind. After patching him up, she walked over to the balcony and called out, "Let's get going, Sean, Grandpa."
