Khloe might have been relieved, not having to worry about their future.

But Henrik was more serious than she had expected. He wanted something genuine and responsible for the future.

Considering his kind intentions, Khloe decided not to tease him any further. She quietly settled into his arms, sinking into the cool water, waiting for the effects of the drug to wear off.

As she soaked, the discomfort gradually faded, and she eventually drifted off to sleep in Henrik’s arms.

When he noticed Khloe was asleep, Henrik’s gaze softened, brimming with care and affection. Remembering the doctor’s instructions, he waited until enough time had passed before gently lifting her from the bathtub, taking every precaution not to wake her. The water that dripped from their bodies formed small puddles on the bathroom floor.

Henrik called for Fiona. She quickly entered, carrying clean clothes and towels. Henrik grabbed a towel and dried Khloe, his movements careful, as though she were the most precious thing in the world.

He left the bathroom, giving Fiona the chance to put Khloe in dry, comfortable pajamas. Returning to his room, he changed quickly and came back to keep an eye on Khloe, watching as the doctor started the IV drip.

Henrik stayed by Khloe’s side the entire night.

When Khloe woke up the next day, she found herself wrapped in Henrik’s protective embrace. The events from the previous night flashed through her mind, and her face turned red. As her eyes landed on Henrik’s open loungewear, revealing his toned physique, she felt a mix of regret and an unexpected twinge of happiness.

After the ordeal, Khloe stayed under Henrik’s care for a full week before she was cleared to return to work.

Despite using significant resources, Henrik and his team still hadn’t uncovered the true identity of Artist. All they had found was an empty apartment and some disguise tools, including a voice changer, which made it clear that even her voice was fake.

Alan reported his findings, standing with his head down in front of Khloe and Henrik. “I’m sorry. I failed to capture Artist.”

A scowl appeared on Henrik’s face. Artist had dared to drug Khloe, and he was determined to make her pay. Alan’s failure was inexcusable.

Just as Henrik was about to speak, Khloe tugged at his hand. “Don’t blame Alan. Artist is really clever. Even I couldn’t pinpoint her exact location. I’m not surprised by how this turned out.”

Khloe pleaded on Alan’s behalf, and Henrik’s stern expression softened just a little. He looked at Alan coldly and said, “Go. Take ten lashes.”

Hearing the punishment, Alan immediately bowed to Khloe, his gratitude evident.

Previously, failing a task would have earned Alan at least thirty lashes, leaving him bedridden for over two weeks. Khloe’s plea had spared him more than half of the punishment.

After Alan left, Henrik turned to Khloe. “You begged for Alan. Do you already have a plan to locate Artist?”

Surprised by Henrik’s insight, Khloe raised an eyebrow. “You’re almost like a mind reader. Other than my mom, you’re the only one who seems to know what I’m thinking.”

In a grave tone, Henrik said, “Whatever your plan is, it needs to happen in my presence. I don’t want to face what we did last time again.”

Henrik couldn’t bear to imagine what would have happened if it had been Clinton and Khloe falling into the pit that day. Even though he knew Khloe could protect herself, he didn’t want to risk her getting hurt.

Khloe understood Henrik’s concerns. For the past few days, he had been keeping a close eye on her, clearly still shaken. She reassured him, “Alright. Having a capable bodyguard like you, I couldn’t ask for more.” Only then did Henrik’s tension ease. “What are you planning?”
