Chapter 387
Chapter 387:
“Are you jealous?” he teased, his hands moving steadily over her skin, each touch carrying an almost hypnotic quality that left Khloe utterly captivated.
“Of course not,” she shot back, her voice defiant even as a blush crept across her face. She avoided his gaze, nervous that he might see just how much the answer mattered to her.
Henrik exhaled, adding a bit more pressure as his fingers lightly pinched her waist, sending another involuntary shiver through her body.
“You won’t like the answer. It’s not a pleasant story,” he said after a brief pause.
Khloe, sharp as ever, immediately picked up on the weight of sadness buried in Henrik’s voice.
This was the first time he had openly let her see the darkness and pain he carried.
Khloe abruptly clasped Henrik’s hand mid-massage, turning to face him with a determined look. “I want to hear it. Good or bad, it’s part of your story.”
Henrik lifted his eyes to meet hers. The tenderness in his expression deepened into something darker and more intense. “Are you sure you want to know?”
If Khloe really wanted to know, he would share a piece of his violent and harrowing past, even if it meant exposing the part of him that was dark and frightening.
Yet, once she heard it, he wouldn’t let her walk away from him—ever.
Khloe gave a small nod in response.
Henrik fixed his gaze on her, his voice steady, and each word carried a heavy weight. “I learned it by practicing on corpses.”
Khloe’s pupils shrank, her breath caught in her chest, yet her stare never wavered.

Henrik maintained his smile as he continued, “As a child, life wasn’t easy for me in the Watson family. My father favored me because of my mother, but it only sparked jealousy among the other family members. One time, while traveling abroad, I was kidnapped and dumped into a huge pit filled with rotting bodies and trash. Beggars scoured the filth for food there. Everyone, both adults and children, acted like wild animals. In that place, I had to learn how to fight.”
His voice dropped to a low, rough tone, each word carrying the weight of the violence and despair he had lived through.
A cold shiver ran through Khloe’s spine. She couldn’t fathom that Henrik had faced such horrors at such a young age.
“At first, I only inflicted injuries on them, with no intention of killing them. But one day, a group of them came to the dump, eager to feast on me. I fought back, killing those who sought my life. I used their bodies as a way to sharpen my fighting abilities, and from that day on, blood stained my hands in a way that could never be undone.”
Henrik let go of her hand and slowly stood up, taking a step back as though trying to create some space between them.
Without thinking, Khloe grabbed the edge of his robe, her eyes locked on his. “So how did you get back? Did the Watson family find you?”
Henrik was quiet for a moment, then spoke slowly. “No. I stayed in that pit for a long time. After killing those who tried to harm me, I learned to survive in that brutal place. Eventually, no one dared to challenge me. It was only then that I managed to escape. That’s when I realized I had been in a small, war-torn country, far from where I was taken. The pit was a training ground for warlords and killers, thousands of miles away from where I had gone missing. The Watson family searched for me for a whole year. When I finally returned, they thought I was dead. Seeing their shock was amusing.”
Hearing his words, Khloe fought back tears. She couldn’t fathom the hardships Henrik had suffered.
When Henrik saw the tears in her eyes, he gently lifted her chin, wiping them away with a smile that was both gentle and haunting. “Don’t pity me. After I returned to the Watson family, I found the person who ordered my abduction and killed him. I dismembered his body right in front of everyone.”
His eyes gleamed with a cold, unsettling light, like a wolf’s eyes in a frozen field, driven by bloodlust. “Watching their expressions turning from contempt to pure terror was fascinating.”
