Phone rings

‘ Can you give me a moment?’ he asked as he saw the caller .

The man nodded as he stood up to leave.

‘ Hi Love, how are you? Did you meet with Cindy?’ he asked softly.

‘ Am fine my love. Am with Cindy and she wants to talk to you about something . where are you?’ She asked.

‘ Am at a coffee shop on 12th street, can you come over or should I come to meet you?’ he asked, really concerned.

‘No…it’s Fine. I will be there in 10 minutes .’

She hung up and immediately he placed the phone back in his pocket before going inside.

‘I guess she’s pretty.’ He said making Dementrio feel shy as he looked away to hide the smile that had lit up his face.

‘ Your right, how did you know I was talking to a girl?’ he asked suspiciously looking at him.

‘ I have been in town for a week or so. That’s enough to know my young boss has fallen in love.’

‘ You were supposed to watch me, not spy on me. That was my father’s instructions.’

The weird man raised his hands in apology before turning to look outside .

The scenery was just to distract him from his boss’s face.

He couldn’t believe he was hiding the truth from Demetrio.

Ever since Dementrio was brought to Mr. Romeo’s family, he had treated him like the boss’s son.

To him Dementrio was far better than the so-called Damien but why was he hurt hiding the truth , it had been Mr. Romeo’s plan not to allow Dementrio know that he wasn’t his son.

His thoughts were interrupted when he saw a car pulled over at the park which have been kept for the customers.

Two ladies came out from the car at the same time. The car was spacious enough to take about 10 cars .

It was noon, so there were only 3 cars.

He observed the ladies without blinking. They both looked really familiar but where had he seen them.

Just then the one who looked older turned to his direction, he opened his mouth in awe.

It was Chester’s daughter, but which of them .

As if that wasn’t enough, the younger one faced his direction and smiled at someone.

He recognized her, she was Mr. Romeo’s daughter but what was she doing here?

He turned to Dementrio who was already up to welcome the ladies.

‘ Hello ladies, this is Rowland, my father’s right hand man.’

‘ Rowland meet Cathy and Rhea.’

The ladies smiled before taking their seats.

‘ Can I talk to you for a moment?’ he asked and without waiting to get a reply he dragged him away by his hands.

‘ Do you know who those ladies are?’

‘ I know you’re really shocked, I was also shocked Cindy was alive but I fell in love with her best friend so what?’

‘ She doesn’t recognize you?’

‘ She doesn’t even know who she is, all she knows is that she is Cindy.’

‘ Okay, what about the other girl?’

‘ You mean Rhea? She’s my girlfriend. Now come let’s go and don’t say anything to Cindy ‘

Demetrio Left immediately leaving him to wondered what was going on.

He wasn’t really concerned about Cindy at that moment, he was concerned about Rhea.

Rhea was Mr. Romeo’s daughter, the same man Dementrio referred to as his dad.

He walked to the table as he sat down just opposite Rhea, so he could observe her.

‘ Am really sorry,’ he apologized.

‘ It’s no problem at all, so you knew Demetrio from childhood?’

‘ Yeah ‘ he answered while sipping his coffee.

‘ Can you tell me how he was? Who would you prefer, Dementrio or Damien?’

Hearing Damien’s name made him choke.

‘Am really sorry.’ Cindy said, passing a napkin over to him.

He took the napkin but felt really hurt for doing so, her eyes were so innocent and he felt bad for killing her parents.

‘ He doesn’t really Like Damien, they had many fights in the past’ Dementrio explained, making her laugh.

He watched her, she hadn’t changed at all. The same face and the same laughter but can’t she remember. She had the same name but she couldn’t remember her parents.

‘ Mr. Romeo used to love Demetrio a lot. More than Damien ‘ he emphasized ‘Mr. Romeo ‘ so see if she could remember but nothing happened. She had the same straight look.

‘ Are you both sisters?’ Dementrio gave him an angry look for the stupid look but he didn’t care. He was probably having the worst times of his laugh.

‘ No not really, we aren’t. She has a sister but I don’t have one. Demetrio and Cindy are the only family I have now’ she answered with a weak tone but Dementrio helped her.

‘ I have things to do’ he said as she got up immediately, gently dragging the masked man with him.

Up untill that moment, the ladies didn’t notice he had been sitting there listening to them.

‘ What happened to him?’

‘ I really don’t know. He is not used to seeing beautiful ladies.’ Cindy bluffed at his reply.

‘ I know you’re talking about Rhea?’

‘ Not Rhea, I am talking about you Cindy.’ he answered with a wink.

Rhea’s face turned red but she kept calm to listen if he would apologize or say something nice.

‘ We haven’t spoken, each time we meet, you leave immediately,’ he said.

‘ You spend all your time with your girlfriend so that’s the reason.’

‘ I see…then let’s talk today. We are alone and on one would disturb us.’

The last statement was enough, she got immediately as she grabbed her purse before leaving.

‘Rhea?’ Cindy called but was stopped by his hands. He was holding her wrist.

‘ Let her be for a moment, it’s just some punishment for leaving me. ‘

‘ Leaving you? Rhea would never do such ‘

‘ It’s not what you think Cindy. Forget about her. What were the questions you wanted to ask?’

‘ Those questions could wait, first I need you to find Rhea. ‘She ordered

He nodded as he drained down the remaining coffee while standing. He winked and he was gone.

He brought out his phone to call but then she wasn’t answering the call.

She was taking this too far , he thought.

Where would he look for her?

He saw a guy feeding some birds and asked about her. Luckily for him, he had watched Rhea walk to the playground at the end of the street.

He thanked him and ran off.

Rhea was seated watching the birds eat, the birds felt a presence and flew away.

She looked at him and eyed him.

‘ The birds flew away. They hate intruders.’ she whispered

‘ I guess you scared them off on your first trial.’ he touched her but she shrugged off.

‘ Am sorry. ‘ he muttered slowly.

‘Your not , your just following Cindy’s instructions ,’

‘ Your not lying but you know I didn’t mean any of what I said .’

‘ I don’t care,’ she flared up as got up to leave but she was pulled back

She got angry and screamed at him .

‘Stay off me!’

He was taken aback by her sudden outburst and didn’t follow her.

He watched her as she left the playground hoping she would turn back and forgive him.

While she waited at a spot for the vehicles to clear so she could cross, a white van came from the opposite direction, stopped right in front of her . Two men came out and immediately pushed her inside.

She screamed for help which made Dementrio realize that she was being kidnapped.

She rushed to get her but it was too late.

‘ You could actually make those ladies suspect you.’

‘ I know I just couldn’t help it . You know she is the boss’s daughter right?’

‘ Yes I know that?’

‘ Do you think Cindy’s presence and his love for Rhea would make him forget about Chester’s Enterprise?’

‘ I don’t think so, he knew and his still in pursuit of the wealth ‘

But he would have to tell one day, love just has a way of changing someone.

‘ So when do you plan on getting off this mask?’

‘ You know my face was badly damaged after the operation? I don’t want people to get scared of me.’

Just then they noticed a driver, their attention was drawn to him. He looked really familiar but they couldn’t remember where they had seen him.

Rowland stared at him, and then he noticed the tattoo on the right hand of the man.

It was a scorpion.

The same Damien had, that could only mean he was one of Damien’s men.

He observed him as he entered the coffee shop to get a coffee and a take away snack before entering the van and zooming off.

But then just before the next street, he saw the van stopped and a lady being pushed inside.

He looked again and discovered it was Rhea, Dementrio was screaming her name from the okay okay ground.

They both rush to get her but were too late
