Painful seduction

Cathy sat on the couch absentminded , her gaze was fixed on the morning newspaper which wasn’t surprising. She always read the newspaper every morning with a nice cup of coffee as she checkmate her business enterprise.

Today was different, her coffee stood there untouched and it looked cold.

She wore a robe thet made her look like middle aged women from the 80’s.

They stood there for sometime unnoticed thinking of how to get her attention.

” Catherine!” Axl cried with his voice sounding cold and harsh.

She turned looking so shocked not because of his yelling but because he just called her by her original name, a name which no one except her father had called her before.

At the same time Axl was also shocked by the boldness of his friend as he looked at him for an explanation to what had just happened.

She drifted closer as she jerked her head high, drew back her shoulders and with arrogant pride glared him down with her voice.

” How dare you Axl!” She roared as she raised her hands to slap him but he stopped her halfway tightly holding her wrist as she fought hard to free herself. He freed her after many unsuccessful attempts but not without a stern warning.

” You won’t dare talk to me with disrespect again” he yelled as he took the car keys and left in anger leaving Cathy in shock as she grasped hard for air .

Dementrio watched closely at the whole scenery and froze out of shock, he raised his eyebrows in surprise and confusion as bewilderment clouded his expression .

” Please help me!” She choked as she searched around for her inhaler.

” Where is it?” He asked.

“In… My bag” she stammered, her voice gradually leaving.

He looked around for her bag but couldn’t see it, a maid rushed into the room carrying the inhaler .

She must have understood the situation, he thought.

After few minutes of inhaling, she became calm but stared into space absentmindedly.

” Don’t worry about him, his just having a bad day” Dementrio said as he gently patted her shoulders.

” He never called me by that name…” She began “Dad said that was the name my late father called me”.

” Like I said his having a bad day, it’s just morning and am sure before the day ends he will apologize ” he assured.

I will have to talk to him, he thought.

” That’s not true, he hates me” she said as she broke down in tears .

He stared hard at her not making an effort to stop her from crying her eyes out, she looked really distressed.

If only she had shown him how much she loved her husband, he thought.

He knew deep down she loved Axl very much but she was just too concerned with managing her father’s wealths that she sometimes forgets he exist.

” It’s all my fault” she sobbed quietly.

” That’s not true Cathy although there is still time to mend your relationship with him” Axl responded as he embrace her and she hugged him tightly still sobbing.

He couldn’t believe he was actually embracing a woman, who would have ever thought that Dementrio could ever be emotional.

The Truth was that he felt pained seeing her crying, he could only imagine if it had happened to Rhea.

” Try to make it right with him, remember his your husband ” Axl said

” Am just too busy with my father’s business ” she muttered.

* Cathy… ” he began as he patted her on her hair ” I know you’re strong, learn to balance it up okay “.

She nodded as she gently freed herself.

“You will be fine okay ” he assured.

She sat upright as she dried her tears with the handkerchief Axl gave her , a little surprised on the change in his attitude.

“Cathy ” He called .

She turned to look at him without answering.

” Have you ever thought of the possibility of your twin sister being alive?” He asked.

” I don’t understand, what do you mean?” She returned a question with curiosity.

” Your breakfast is ready ma’am” .

A maid appeared and bowed while waiting for her orders.

” Set the table as I have ordered” she commanded as she waved her hands .

” You don’t take no as an answer Cathy”he said with a smirk.

” No is never an option when it comes with Cathy” she answered in boldness and pride.

” You still haven’t finished up what we were talking about” she said with curiosity.

Just what he needed and everything was going according to plan, he thought.

” Remember the day of the accident your parents bodies were found but your twin sister’s body was missing?” He asked.

” Yes, I remember but what are you driving at Axl?” She asked in confusion.

“Follow me up Cathy and then leave interrogation for later” he said sternly.

” The media said her body was burnt to ashes” she said quietly.

” That’s good, have you ever sat down to think about this… an accident occurs but only a body was burnt to ashes the rest of the victims their bodies were found ” he asked as he watched her closely.

She Listened with interest as she followed every detail.

She sat down as she thought deeply, her mind had never thought of this before.

” Also remember you were also in the same car accident, don’t you think everything is strange?” He asked in curiosity .

” Your right Axl , there is a possibility that my twin sister is still alive ” she answered with a ray of hope in her eyes.

” Smart , Cathy and there is a possibility she was abducted in the scene of the accident, maybe the mastermind took her and left you” he explained.

” But who could have done that” she asked as she ruffled her hair .
