Painful seduction

The drive home took longer than usual as she kept her eyes watching for anything that looked suspicious. Everything she heard from Nelly were just the exact opposite of what she was told by Mr. Anderson but two things surprised her the most.

The fact that she was 15 when her parents died and that she wasn’t in the car when the accident occurred baffled her the most .

Was everything Mr. Anderson told her all a lie?

Left with no other trustworthy person around her, the only thing she could do was find the truth herself.

She increased the speed of the car as she was already having a slight headache . All she just wanted was to get home, take some painkillers and sleep over what she had just found out.

Maybe after that I can probably get to know what really happened, she thought.

The house was quiet when she got inside and she instantly guessed Axl wasn’t home. As she climbed the stairs to go to her room, she heard sounds from the kitchen which was really strange because the maid had taken a day off to help her mum who was sick in the hospital.

She retraced her steps as she slowed down to check if the sounds were just her imaginations but they weren’t.

It was actually a recorder playing Country music, but who could have the audacity to play country music in her house?

She took a deep breath as she walked to the kitchen. Getting closer, she heard someone singing. The voice sounded familiar and she guessed who it was.

Axl had put an apron on and was cutting some leaves which Cathy didn’t know as he sang loudly to the music that was playing. The kitchen smelt of delicious cooking which made her stomach rumble in hunger.

Moving closer with a smile and confused look, she watched him thinking of a way to get his attention without saying a word but luck was on her side as he noticed there was a presence in the room.

He looked up and returned the smile which lit up his face.

‘ I wasn’t expecting you so soon. Thought you would go shopping afterwards.’ he said embracing her but she freed herself instantly. He smelt different spices which were going to choke her up if she didn’t pull away.

‘ Your cooking…’ she stammered . ‘ I never knew you could cook.’

‘ There are still other good talents I have that you don’t know about,’ he winked, making her suspect he wasn’t honest in his reply.

‘ So what are you making?’ she asked, rubbing her abdomen, It was then she realized she was really hungry.

‘ All your favorites.’

He passed a bag of fritos to her which she collected greedily .

‘ You’re okay? You look pretty stressed out.’

It was probably hunger, she thought.

‘ Don’t worry, just go upstairs and freshen up. Lunch and dinner will be served in no time’ he said as he kissed her forehead before continuing with his cooking.

She smiled knowing she was going to have a wonderful time eating till her stomach gets filled up, with that smile she turned to leave but then she remembered something and turned immediately to look at him sharply.

‘ Axl, were you forced to get married to me?’

He was taken aback by her question but managed to answer.

‘No…why do you ask such?’

‘ It’s nothing, I just thought our previous fights were maybe caused by being forced to get married.’ she lied watching him for any suspicion.

‘ I thought we were over this Cathy? I told you to forget the past and focus on a way forward.’ He got closer taking her palm into his and he planted a kiss on each of the back of her palm.

‘ Do you know who Nelly is?’

He dropped her hands immediately as he wore a shocked look.

Nelly was right, she thought.

‘No…er, where did you hear the name from?’ he managed to ask.

‘ Someone called today claiming you were in love with Nelly but I guess it’s one of those newspapers who wants to publish a juicy story.’

She smiled broadly as she walked away to have a bath and get herself ready for dinner.

Axl’s character had proved that Nelly was right all along and that could only mean she could only trust her cousin.

‘The food tastes just as good as it smells ‘ she praised as she ate more.

‘ I learnt how to make it while in New York, I learnt it the hard way.’

‘ The hard way? I would love to hear the story.’ she begged with a pretty face.

He looked at her and began the story which took place more than 5 years ago.

Axl was actually a student at a school in New York before coming to Los Angeles to get married to Cathy and manage the company. One cold morning he woke up really hungry and couldn’t go out because it was snowing and the government had warned the citizens of the terrible weather conditions that might happen during the day.

Left with no option and no snacks at home, he went online and searched for a recipe.

Luck was on his side and the items were already at home. With the help of his phone he made a delicacy but it tasted terrible.

He had to stay half of the day at home hungry before they were allowed to go outside, after that incident. He applied in a school and with the help of his neighbor, he learnt how to cook different delicacies in a short while.

The story was funny to Cathy and she rolled in laughter but she controlled herself in order not to get choked up.

‘ Enough of eating Cathy, Let’s toast to a new phase of our life. ‘ Axl rose up as he got Cathy’s favorite red wine from the mini bar in the living room.

He got two glasses in no time and half filled them quickly, handing one of the glasses to Cathy who collected with pleasure.

‘ To new life and a new beginning of our relationship ‘ he toasted and the next seconds they were drinking and laughing heartily.

Suddenly, Cathy felt dizzy and all she could see was the blur image of Axl.

She tried standing up and gesturing to Axl to help her out, getting up gently she fell but just in time for Axl to help her.

Within seconds he had placed her on her bed as he took his phone to make a call.

‘ Hello father. I have drugged her as you instructed.’

He talked for a while on the phone before leaving her but not without shutting the door.

On his way out he saw the maid who had taken a day’s off.

He instructed her not to disturb Cathy as she was taking a rest and with that he zoomed off in Cathy’s favorite red Lamborghini.

(Meanwhile)

‘You recognize me right?’ he asked in his usual devilish grin.

‘ I can never forget my master’s most trusted worker ‘ a man on a mask replied.

‘Am back, to take back what was rightfully stolen from us, how about the little boss? Does he know the truth yet?’

‘ Not at all, it’s still a secret what his father did and you should also know that he knows nothing about you.’ he coughed letting him know he was being monitored.

They understood and gave themselves signals.

‘The little boss better finds out tbe truth early. Am still working on Mr. Anderson’s case. His is a fool to think i will let him go.’

‘ Do you really need the properties, you actually know our two bosses are bent on getting that wealth.’

‘I promised my loyalty to our Boss before he died and then I love Dementrio so much to take what he wants.’ he explained as he brought at a cigarette and lit it.

Inhaling from it slowly before quenching it and throwing it off.

‘ So what do you plan to do to Mr. Anderson?’ the man wearing the masked as he kept in looking outside if someone was watching.

‘ Take everything that belongs to him and then give him the slow death he deserves.’

‘ That’s really mean Rowland.’

‘ He deserves everything hurtful and more’ he answered as they both rolled in laughter.

‘ Keep in mind everything I have told you. Am just waiting for the right opportunity to implement the plan.’ Rowland said in his usual dark and mystical voice.

‘ Everything would work out fine, right?’ he asked undoubtedly.

‘ You know am an assassin, all my plans always work out fine ‘ he said.

‘ I will keep an eye on her as you have instructed. Just get everything done in a day.’ he ordered lightly.

He smiled exposing his brown tea which had been stained by tobacco before leaving.
