Lenora and Zachary Chapter 520
Chapter 520 Taking The Blame
Facing the disparaging remarks of Bjorn, Zephyr calmly stood up and said, "If you invited me here just to say these things, then I'm afraid I won't be able to keep you company."
"Let your sister go. I'll take her back to Fairlake immediately," Bjorn said in a deep voice.
Zephyr paused, turning back to look at him. "That's impossible. The police handled this case as a favor to Uncle Matthew. If you want her to be released now, you'll have to personally discuss it with Uncle Matthew." "You..."
Under Bjorn's furious gaze, Zephyr pushed the door open and left.
He opened the car door and got in but didn't immediately start the car. Instead, he first called Sophia, advising her to be careful while going out. He told her not to be alone when she was working outside and to always have her assistant with her. Sophia asked curiously, "Why? What happened?"
Zephyr paused momentarily. "Isla's father has arrived in Jacaster."
"Are you worried that Isla's father might seek revenge on me?"
"It's better to be safe than sorry. No one knows what he might do," Zephyr said. "It's always good to be prepared."
In the past, Isla was no stranger to bullying others, and Bjorn was never bothered by it.
However, it was different this time. This time, Isla had been punished and detained. It was possible that Bjorn might take his anger out on Sophia.
Moreover, Bjorn discovered Zephyr's relationship with Sophia and deliberately mentioned her in his presence, forcing Zephyr to become more cautious.
"I understand. I'll be careful," Sophia said and pondered. Zephyr knows Isla's family well. His warning isn't without reason. It's likely that Isla's family might take revenge, which is why Zephyr has cautioned me to be careful.
Afterward, Sophia grumbled, "This afternoon when I came back, I heard from Nora that Hattie had disappeared, and I was nearly worried sick. Later on, I found out that Hattie was taken away by her uncle without even a word of notice. This family has no manners at all... You should keep your distance from them in the future..."
Zephyr's face was a mix of emotions after he heard Sophia's words. It seems I shouldn't have taken Harrietta home, nor should I have let Harrietta use my phone to make a call. Now, I've inexplicably taken the blame for that old geezer.
Noticing the silence lingering on the other end of the line, Sophia asked, "Did you catch what I just said?"
"I heard you... However, you might have misunderstood something. I've met with Isla's brother before, and he's not like Isla. He's a very kind person."
"Oh." Sophia wasn't particularly interested in what kind of person Isla's brother was. "He didn't even bother to say anything before taking Hattie away."
"It wasn't him. It was Isla's father. He was just responsible for taking her back."
Sophia furrowed her brows and asked suspiciously, "How do you know so much?"
"Um..." Zephyr had a sudden thought. "He just had a heated argument with his father about Isla. He was just venting to me about it..."
Sophia became interested. "What did he say to you?"
"Essentially, his father is eager to get Isla out, but he said no."
Hearing Zephyr speak that way, Sophia developed a slight fondness for Isla's brother. "As his friend, you should comfort him and support him."
She wanted Zephyr to support Isla's brother and stand up against Isla's father.
With a soft chuckle, Zephyr finally relaxed and said, "I understand."
However, trouble still found Sophia the very next day.
When she pulled up in her car beneath the studio, her assistant messaged her on WhatsApp. They were already waiting for her upstairs in the makeup room, taking the opportunity to organize the makeup case and gather the cosmetics she would need. Recalling her past experience of being kidnapped in the underground parking lot, Sophia ultimately decided to have her assistant meet her up.
The assistant found it odd, yet she still agreed.
Upon reaching the upstairs workspace, Sophia finally let out a sigh of relief, unintentionally letting her guard down. There's perhaps a shred of honor and decency left in Isla's father. He knows his daughter has done something wrong, so he wouldn't do anything to me. After applying makeup to the model, Sophia instructed the model to head to the studio while she went to the restroom herself.
The moment she stepped into the ladies' restroom, she caught a fleeting glimpse of a shadow out of the corner of her eye. Her heart pounded in alarm. She wanted to scream for help, but it was already too late.
The person behind her swiftly covered her mouth, striking at the back of her neck. Sophia immediately fell into unconsciousness.
After an indeterminate amount of time had passed, she regained consciousness.
Everything before her was shrouded in darkness.
However, she soon realized that it wasn't the environment that was shrouded in darkness, but rather, her own eyes were covered.
Bound with a rope, her hands were tied behind her back.
Sophia had no idea where she had been taken to. All she could perceive was the intense wind howling past her ears, causing her hair to fly in disarray. As it swept across her cheeks, it tickled her.
Jacaster was still somewhat warm in October, yet the refreshing autumn breeze carried a hint of chilliness. This coolness made Sophia feel slightly cold.
Such a breeze was quite uncommon in the city.
Hence, she thought she was likely in the suburbs.
Sophia was filled with regret, berating herself for her carelessness that allowed someone to kidnap her.
Sophia was filled with a sense of desolation and despair. Will Zephyr be here in time to rescue me this time around? Isla's father might not go as far as to take my life, but it's hard to say what he might actually do to me. He might amputate me! Sophia's complexion turned pale when she thought about that possibility, and she swallowed hard.
"Are you awake?"
A male voice rang out, and the man spoke in broken Clusian. It was immediately apparent that he was a foreigner struggling with the language.
Chills ran down Sophia's entire body. "Who are you?" she asked.
"You don't need to know who I am. All you need to know is that you've offended someone you shouldn't have."
"What do you want?" Sophia's voice quivered a bit.
"You'll find out soon enough."
After he had spoken, the man roughly pulled her up from the ground and pushed her forward a few steps.
The wind was howling, causing her clothes to flutter freely in the air, creating a soft rustling sound. This was accompanied by a refreshing coolness that hit her face.
Suddenly, a sense of foreboding crept into Sophia's heart.
Even in the suburbs, the summer winds in Jacaster were never this strong unless they were on a mountain.
The cool sensation on her face gave her a startling illusion. It was as if there was nothing before her.
There and then, she figured she could be standing right at the edge of a cliff.
The moment that thought popped into her mind it refused to leave. Sophia began to tremble all over, a cold sweat breaking out on her
forehead. Her lips turned paret
devoid of any color, and her legs felt weak. She felt as if one more
forward would send her tumbling down.
"Please! I-I don't want to die. D-Don't kill me," Sophia pleaded, her voice choked with tears. She desperately backed away, ending up collapsing onto the ground. I don't want to die! I'm only twenty-six! I'm all Mom has left If I were to die, she would be heartbroken!
Zephyr also crossed her mind. Though she never verbalized it, the truth was, after he had saved her that last time, she had already forgiven him for his unannounced departure all those years ago. She figured Zephyr would also be heartbroken if she died.
The man suddenly seized her arm,
forcibly pulling her up from the ground. He scoffed coldly and said, "You wish! Why did you have to offend my sister? She's still suffering in the detention center, while you're out here living carefree. You Better

Sophia could barely stand. Her heart seemed to stop in sheer terror. Her lips quivered as she stammered, "I-If you dare to kill me, the p-police won't let you get away with it." "I'll wait."
After speaking, the man forcefully pushed her away.
"Ah!"
Sophia's foot met with nothing but air, and she plummeted in utter despair, her mind a complete blank.
What do you think?
