Chapter 449
Chapter 449
I was perched on the edge of my seat, just as tensed as anyone else in the room.
The cameraman switched views back to the pool table, capturing the moment the opponent's skilled shot went out of bounds. The place erupted in cheers.
The girl I was rooting for lifted her cue high, signaling her victory.
I watched the victor, my lips curving into a smile.Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.
As music started playing on the TV, I swiveled my chair around to face Haley, "She won."
"The game's over. So, what brings you here?" Haley quizzed me.
I kicked the floor lightly, gliding the chair closer to her, crossing one leg over the other.
I was still wearing the black, slit silk skirt from last night's dinner with Yates and Fanny. The slit was subtly revealing when I stood, but sitting down, it provocatively exposed my thigh.
My skin was exceptionally pale, glowing against the dark fabric of my skirt.
Haley's gaze instantly shifted my way, a mix of admiration and envy in her eyes, even though she herself was fair and delicate. I knew her envy stemmed from not having flaunted her legs in a long while, especially with her pregnancy these past few months.
And because of my fair skin, the marks left by Ernest last night were all the more conspicuous, right at the top of my thigh...
Haley, having been through motherhood herself, understood all too well what those marks implied.
Her cheeks turned a mix of embarrassed and annoyed as she snapped, "Felicia, did you come here just to show this off? Are those from Conrad?" Her words were venomous, yet without a single curse word.
I couldn't let her comment slide, replying with a mockingly light laugh, "You think everyone's like you, lying under their husband but dreaming of another man?"
Haley's face turned pale, "Felicia, you're no saint either. After sleeping with Conrad for ten years, getting bored and moving on to other men."
I smiled faintly, not surprised by her accusation. It was a common belief among those who knew about me and Conrad.
To claim I hadn't been with Conrad would be laughable to anyone.
But these matters required no explanation from me.
"Who I'm with is my business, as long as I have someone to sleep with," I parried, leaving her momentarily at a loss for words.
The more you explain, the murkier it gets, and it seems like you're just covering up.
Besides, that wasn't the reason for my visit.
"Haley, you wanted to know why I'm here? Let me tell you, I came to warn you," I leaned back comfortably in my chair, exuding an air of casual authority.
"You're warning me? Felicia, you're actually scared," Haley smirked, looking triumphant.
I stood up, stepping closer to her,
and with the remote control in my hand, I gently lifted her chin, "Haley mess with me all you want, I can play games. But if you touch I
someone I care about, that de

off limits."
"If Fanny's okay, fine. But if anything. happens to her..." I leaned in closer, whispering so only she could hear,
"I'll make sure someone takes care of you."
Haley snorted, "You think you can scare me?"
I stared at her silently, then pulled out my phone, showing that I was recording.
Haley's face twisted in panic as she lunged to grab it, but I dodged, laughing mockingly, "Playing this game?"
After saying that, I hit delete, then casually opened her recent call logs.
As Haley made another grab for it, I swiftly sat back down, kicking my legs up defensively.
One particular number from her midnight call caught my eye, unlisted. Without hesitation, I dialed it.
