Tilly nodded, and Alfius tightened his grip on the scabbard.

The group continued forward.

The city was completely deserted, with only the eerie emptiness adding to the sense of foreboding.

"Everyone, be careful. Eyes are watching us from the shadows," Tilly observed sharply.

Suddenly, shadows began to converge around the four.

"Who are you?" one of the shadows asked.

"We're seeking vengeance. Where are the people who took the demon sword, Rain of the Village?" Alfius demanded. "Dead men don't need to know!"

With that, the group of ninjas sprang from the shadows, attacking the four.

"Everyone, lower your heads," Alfius instructed. Tilly and the two followers immediately ducked and covered their heads.

Alfius then drew his sword in one swift motion, slicing the ninjas in his line of sight into half with a single strike. They disappeared into a cloud of smoke.

Alfius touched the hilt of his sword. "Hmm? It contains Master Bjorn's will. No wonder it's extremely sharp. Your name is Centurio. I see. I look forward to working with you in the future." He sheathed the sword. "They aren't humans."

One of the followers stepped forward and said, "I'm afraid so. They're just avatars. Their real persons will likely notice now that they've been destroyed-"

There was a loud boom, and something came rushing toward them from the front!

When the smoke cleared, two bizarre figures stood before them.

One of them was holding a scepter in his left hand and a feather fanin his right, He was adorned in gold and silver and had a sharp, rather ugly face. A set of drums floated behind him.

The other was immensely tall with bulging muscles. He was wearing a red long-nosed mask and had a pair of enormous wings sprouting from his back. He was also wielding a gigantic spear. en

Tilly immediately went alert. "A Crow?"

"Who are you? Why did you trespass here?" the Crow with the mask asked in a commanding voice. "Leave immediately."

Alfius asked fearlessly, "You're not

ninjas? Where is that guy? Where's the demon sword? Is he too scared to come out? Is that why he sent you two grotesque-looking things?"

A thunderclap came zapping down, but Alfius cut it in half.

"Did you not hear my question?" Alfius flicked his sword. When the Crow saw this, he became serious as well.noveldrama

The masked Crow swung his long spear toward Alfius. Following him was the other Crow with a scepter and feather fan who unleashed lightning. Alfius swiftly drew his sword. The winged Crow dodged, and Alfius' attack sliced the lightning that was coming from behind the winged Crow in half. "Just as I thought!" The winged Crow laughed maniacally and thrust his spear at Alfius several times.

Alfius had no choice but to defend with his sword.

"Your sword draw, while powerful, can probably only be used once in a short period! It's indeed fast, but it's not enough to keep up with me!"

Then, the winged Crow flew in front of Alfius and grabbed his arm, preventing him from moving.
