Chapter 1919
After the storm subsided, Clint asked again, "Question, Kilmort Star claims to be Zaafea. Who is he, really?"
He received an answer and then asked a few more unrelated questions, some of which were answered while others were not.
Knowing that there was a time limit to the enchantment, Clint thought carefully before asking his final question.
"Last question, about Nash's fate..."
Once more, lightning flashed and thunder roared, indicating it was another forbidden question.
Clint hurriedly threw out a copper coin, but the storm showed no signs of stopping. He threw another copper coin without hesitation, but again, there was no change.
It was then that Clint realized the seriousness of the situation. With no other options, he pinned his hopes on the last copper coin.
With a clink, the copper coin fell, and the turmoil finally calmed. He hurriedly returned to reality.
Upon opening his eyes, Clint found himself once again on the rooftop of his house. The copper coins in his hand had all broken in half. He reflected on what had just occurred and muttered to himself, "Nash Calcraft? Who is this guy?" Just then, Oswald arrived and asked, "Is it over?"
Clint wiped the sweat from his face and pretended to be relaxed.novelbin
"It's over, Oswald."
Oswald stepped forward. When he saw the shattered copper coins, he was shocked.
"This... How could this be...?"
"It's nothing. I just asked one too many questions," Clint said simply and took a sip of water. He then turned back to Oswald and asked, "What's up? What brings you here today?"
"I haven't been sleeping well these past few days, Mr. Melton."
"Just call me Clint, Oswald. No need for formalities between us."
"Alright then. So, I've just been feeling restless recently. They've neither included me in the summit nor in the investigation into the traitor. I don't know where to direct all my energy."
"I understand your feelings, but the fact that the Unyielding Truth values you so much means your abilities are too important to risk any mistakes. Don't feel too guilty. I'll help you avenge Landrich."
The more Clint spoke, the less confident he felt. Could he really avenge him? If it were 20 years ago-no, even ten years ago he would have pursued revenge without hesitation.
However, having seen how complex
the world was now, his pride had long vanished. He remembered all those who were hurt or killed because of his weakness. Despite their demise, he still had not been able to avenge them. He knew many were counting on him, but he felt powerless.
Oswald patted him on the back.
"Why are you hunching over? Straighten your back."
Clint instinctively straightened his back but then slumped again.
Seeing this, the two of them shared a knowing smile. They reminisced about their childhood when they had said the same thing. Except back then, it was Oswald who was hunching over.
...
The cold northern winds cut like
knives as they blew past Sven's face. Sven was gasping as he tried to take deep breaths. He was alone on the snowy mountain and had been walking for what seemed like an eternity.
However, because of the unchanging scenery, he dared not stop. He gripped his pocket that contained a photo of his sister tightly and was determined to locate the entrance that led to the God of Equilibrium.
His vision was gradually becoming out of focus, and it felt like he might collapse at any given moment. It was then that a light appeared ahead.
