Chapter 380
After settling these matters, Audrey took Miles to the clinic for medicine. She
originally planned to take Miles for a complete check-up at the hospital. But Miles insisted he was fine, saying it was just minor injuries.
There was only one doctor on duty in the clinic.
Miles sat quietly in the chair as the doctor treated his wounds. His gaze, however, went through the glass and rested on Audrey beside him. He was a bit curious about why Xander seemed so afraid of Audrey.
He knew Audrey was the CEO of Rhodes Enterprises, but Xander was said to be a significant figure with influence everywhere. Why would he fear her?
As Miles considered it, his mind began to wander, and he even started to suspect that Audrey might be like characters in movies-a CEO by day and the leader of a secret organization by night.
Before long, Miles had finished his treatment. The doctor reminded him to keep the wound dry and return daily to change the dressing. Miles noted everything down.
After they walked out of the clinic, Audrey patted Miles on the shoulder and said, "Now that Nathan has transferred to another school, no one should dare to bully you anymore. But if any foolish people try, find me, and I'll help you."
Before Miles could agree, Audrey continued, "Mom was so stressed about what happened to you that she fainted. She's still in the hospital, so if anything happens, call me."
Hearing this, Miles felt really guilty and said gloomily, "It's my fault again, making Mom and Dad worry about me. Audrey, can I go with you to visit Mom in the hospital?"
Audrey didn't agree. She said, "You have classes tomorrow, and the back-and- forth might mess up your sleep. Trevor and Dad are at the hospital, so just focus on your studies."
With the upcoming SATS, Miles didn't want to fall behind in his studies. He agreed and added, "Alright then, as soon as Mom wakes up, tell her I'm fine now, and there's nothing to worry about."
Audrey replied, "Okay." Seeing his pitiful look, Audrey couldn't help but ruffle his hair and said with a smile, "It's getting late. Head back to the dorm and get some rest."
Miles said, "Alright, I'm heading back now, Audrey." He waved to Audrey and turned to walk towards his dorm.
Audrey watched Miles walk away, and only when he was out of sight did she turn to leave. She planned to go to the hospital to check on Jessica. The next moment, she got a call from Peter before even reaching the school gate.
As soon as Audrey answered Peter's call, she couldn't wait to ask, "Dad, how's Mom doing?"
Peter said slowly, "I'm calling to let you know that your mom just fainted because she got too worked up. It's not a real illness. She's fine now, so don't worry too much. Have you sorted out the issue with Miles?"

Relieved, Audrey replied, "Yeah, I just left school. Miles just had a
misunderstanding with some classmates. You know how boys can be energetic, noveldrama
but they've sorted it out now, no harm done."
She was worried her parents might not be able to handle the full truth about
Miles's bullying, so she didn't tell them everything.
Hearing this, Peter felt relieved and sighed, "As long as everything's okay. I'm glad it was just a false alarm."
Then he added, "By the way, your mom mentioned you've been busy all day and must be tired. Just go home and rest, no need to visit her now."
"But how can I not? I won't feel at ease if I don't see her," Audrey responded anxiously.
"Audrey, I'm really alright," said
Jessica, who had taken the phone. She firmly insisted, "You've already had a busy day with your performance, so stop going back and forth, and just go home and rest with Alistair."
She was still feeling weak and took a breath before continuing, "I need to thank Alistair's parents today. They stayed with me at the hospital for a long time and only took Sunny home after I woke up.
"We'll have to invite them for dinner sometime to show our gratitude properly."
Audrey smiled gently and softly said, "Mom, we're all family, so there's no need for thanks, but having a meal together sounds great. I'll arrange it."
Jessica laughed and said, "Alright, as long as you have it figured out."
Soon, the phone was back in Peter's hands.
Just when Audrey thought Peter was about to hang up, she heard him quietly ask, "Audrey, be honest with me. Are Alistair's parents more than they seem?"
What do you think?
