My Soul Got Stuck In Another Person’s Body!!

Chapter 2

“I love you too. I love you more!”

I purred as I spoke to the love of my life over the phone.

We were currently on the road, in a car and on our way to my workplace.

“Bye, my sweet, see you later today”

Then I hung up.

I was so immersed in my call, I didn’t know Dinah was staring at me all through my conversation. I met her mocking gaze

“You’re meeting up with Gorilla after work?”

“Yes” I rolled my eyes “and I told you guys to stop calling him a gorilla”

Derek, my boyfriend was nicknamed Gorilla because of his huge size. The nickname became no secret, as everyone at my workplace now called him a gorilla. It pissed me off when others called him that, but I started calling him first and I thought it was cute whenever he answered me. That’s why I didn’t stop.Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.

“Whatever!” Dinah dismissed. “We have to be at the office on time. Mrs Tobias is going to give us updates on the promotion today” she smiled as she glanced at me. “Our promotion!”

Dinah and I have been colleagues for five years now. We worked in an asset management company and in the same office with our cubicles close to one another so we were literally inseparable. We had a lot in common. We were both bitchy and we lived with our family.

“Yes. We have to be at work on time” I affirmed, then to the driver, I said

“Please, sir, step on it. We don’t want to be late.”

Then, to Dinah, I said

“My promotion, not yours”

“Its ours. Whatever is yours is mine” she grinned

I rolled my eyes

“Apart from Gorilla” she said in a sing song tone.

We both laughed

“This week is going to be the best since September!” I squealed, raising my hands.

Our boss, Mrs Tobias, was going to announce the promotion results this week and I bet I was going to be promoted.

And on Thursday, this week was also going to be my three year anniversary with my boyfriend. I felt so elated, just thinking about it.

“Whoa babe! Anniversary celebrations incoming ” Dinah cheered on

“So, tell me, how’s it going to be?” She asked

I grinned from ear to ear

“I don’t know, Dinah. I want it simple”

“Candle lit dinner?” She asked

“Yes” I replied

“Movies while indoors?”

“Yes”

“A moment in the pool…?”

“Yes”

“A moment in the pool…. Umm, he goes to the pool first, then you meet him after half an hour, with a sensual song playing….”

“Yes” I could hear the excitement in my voice. Dinah knew it all.

“Then you enter the pool in slow steps and as his eyes feast on you, you take off your swimsuit in a slow and provocative way—”

“That’s enough!” I flushed. Dinah’s detailed description left little to the imagination.

“What, girl? I’m only helping you make that your anniversary easy”

“It’ll be smooth, nevertheless” I said proudly. Derek and I knew how to go with the flow. We didn’t need an outline.

“Um, about your promotion, who’s competing with you?” Dinah asked and it brought down my jolly spirit.

“Evelyn Thompson” I said

“Right” Dinah replied. “Forget, that cunt! I’m rooting for you, you’re gonna get the promotion”

I was going to agree with Dinah on this one. Evelyn Thompson was a cunt! A cunt I so hated with everything I had. She represented everything I disliked. Her nerdy personality, her stupid bob haircut, her freaking work clothes, I hated whenever she and I clashed and I hated when she’d come up with nerdy, sophisticated comebacks whenever I threw an insult at her.

Since I was her polar opposite, I didn’t lose any chance to pester her. I was always in her face, taunting her, trying to bring her to her knees, but she always made out time for my troubles.

It was no secret at work that I hated her and she hated me. Our bickering was a constant source of entertainment for our colleagues, but a nuisance to Mrs Tobias, our boss. It was so unfortunate that the promotion was going to be for only one of us. I had to be me!

“Yes, Dinah, I’m going to get it. Evelyn doesn’t have any shit on me!”

“Exactly! Although she might be intelligent, smart and efficient, you’re way better than her”

“Yes, right?” I asked “I’m way better. I’m efficient and I’m a good multitasker. I’m intelligent too. I’m just not nerdy like her”

“Yeah! That’s the spirit!” Dinah hyped. In this situation, I knew it was good to have a best friend like Dinah, who always had my back.

“Enough about me” I said to her

“What about you? Have you finally managed to convince your mom that you’re sexually straight?”

One thing that made I and Dinah to become best of friends was what we had in common.

We both lived with our parents.

We both didn’t have enough money to rent or buy a house or car, because we weren’t good at saving money.

It was a tradition to talk about our parents or siblings in the mornings before we began work. If we didn’t talk about them in the car as we went to work then we would talk about them during our lunch break or before we began working

Dinah’s mum thought Dinah was a lesbian because she kept on hanging out with me and didn’t have a boyfriend or a fiancée.

“I haven’t” Dinah sighed “she still thinks I’m a lesbian, even after I told her that you have a boyfriend”

I laughed

“She thinks I’m in love with you” Dinah continued

I laughed harder

“She thinks I’m in a love triangle with your boyfriend”

“Your mom’s too conservative” I said between laughs

“I know that” said Dinah “And your mom is weird. Is she still scared of Derek?”

“Absolutely!” I laughed. Even after I had dated Derek for three years, my mom was still scared of his huge size. It was so ridiculous.

“Keep him away from your mom” Dinah joked and we both cackled.

Our laughter died down when the driver stopped in front of our workplace.
