Chapter 288 The Bus Gets Stuck

Despite the driver's careful approach, the muddy mountain road caused the bus jolt violently. The students clutched their seat belts, holding their breath as they endured the rough ride. No one dared to say a word.

Suddenly, the bus lurched and sank abruptly, causing everyone to scream in alarm. The vehicle had come to a complete stop.

"Stay calm, everyone!" the experienced driver reassured them. "The tire is just stuck in the mud. Step off for now, and I'll try to get it moving again."

Following his instructions, the students hurriedly disembarked, watching anxiously as the driver pressed on the gas. The engine roared, and the wheels spun furiously, but the bus remained trapped, unable to budge.

After multiple failed attempts, the driver sighed in defeat. "The pit is too deep. I can't do this alone. We'll need a tow truck, but it could take a few hours to arrive."

Frustration spread among the students.

"This is a nightmare! Why does this have to happen to us?"

"My shoes are covered in mud. It's disgusting!"

"Class monitor, do something!"

Feigning surprise, Leah remarked, "Oh no, it looks like the tires are stuck in the mud. How did this happen?"

Veronica added meaningfully, "Maybe certain passengers on the bus aren't meant for traveling. Their bad luck must have dragged everyone down."

Silence fell over the group as many instinctively glanced in Celeste and Charmaine's direction.

Celeste, unable to hold back her temper, was about to snap back when the class monitor, eager to resolve the situation, clasped his hands together and turned to Daniel for help.

Daniel's gaze flickered toward Charmaine, who still stood out among the crowd.

After a brief pause, he furrowed his brows slightly and said, "My car has the horsepower, but it's not designed for towing. I'll call the forestry department and have them send someone over."

With that, he stepped away to make the call.

A short while later, he returned with an update. "They've dispatched a team. They should be here in about

an hour."

Hearing the praise, Leah beamed with satisfaction.

She stepped out of the car and stood beside Daniel, slipping her hand into his. "Daniel has always been kind and dependable. Even if he weren't here, he would've found a way to help us.

Someone chimed in, "Yes. If Daniel wasn't here, he'd still be worrying about Leah and rushing over to rescue

her!"

Leah's smile grew even sweeter.

"Anyway, we owe Daniel a big thank you for getting the forestry department's help."

"Thank you, Daniel! And Leah, too!"

Daniel casually waved off the gratitude. "It was nothing. Just a small favor."

Yet, his words only deepened the students' awe at the sheer influence of the Quinns.

As for the two girls who had earlier refused to take sides, their faces turned pale with regret.
