My Mute Wife

Chapter 90 Putting a Plan in Place

[What message?]

Kevin’s face changed, “Oh no.”

At the end of the sentence, the sound of messy footsteps came from outside the door.

“Alan, here, I saw them go in with my own eyes, it’s broad daylight, they just don’t give a damn about you, how shameless.”

Hearing Edith’s voice, Lexie’s face also changed.

The sound of the doorbell ringing was like a fatal bell, without stopping.

Across a door, Alan’s voice came from outside, “Open the door.”

“Yes, Mr. Alan.”

Lexie looked at Kevin, already pale.

She dared not imagine what would happen if Alan saw herself dressed like this in the room with Kevin.

The door to the room opened from the outside.Property © NôvelDrama.Org.

Edith’s shocked voice was the first to ring out, “Sister, you actually did such a thing behind Alan’s back!”

Alan’s long legs stepped into the room, his gaze cold as if he wanted to kill, and the scar on his face looked particularly creepy.

Lexie was stunned.

Edith was so proud of herself.

Originally, she wanted to take a few photos and that was all, but she didn’t expect to get the news that Alan had returned from a business trip, so she changed her plan and simply called Alan directly to call him over.

Caught in the act, Lexie really could not explain.

Kevin frowned, “Alan, don’t misunderstand.”

“Misunderstand?” Alan questioned coldly, “Then explain, what is this about?”

Looking at Alan’s face, Lexie had a feeling of despair.

[No matter how I explain it now, you won’t believe it, will you?]

“I only believe in what I see with my own eyes.”

The atmosphere was stagnant.

Edith swept a glance at Lexie and said gloomily, “Sister, you’ve disgraced our family by doing such a thing. Alan treats you so well.”

Lexie smiled bitterly, sourness in her throat.

Again and again, he left her bruised and battered, tangled with other women and never trusted her.

This was that Alan treated her well?

Alan smelled alcohol in the room and his cold, sullen gaze fell on Lexie, “You drank alcohol?”

[I didn’t.]

“No?”

“Wait,” Kevin’s voice suddenly rang out, interrupting Alan’s questioning as he looked at Edith, “You bite the bullet and say I get a room with Lexie, so I’d like to ask you, how did you know?”

Edith’s face stiffened, “I … my friend happened to see it, so I rushed to call Alan.”

“Your friend? Is this the guy?”

Kevin crossed his phone and played the surveillance of the hotel lobby in front of Alan.

An hour earlier, a man in a mackintosh had carried Lexie out of the car outside and directly to the hotel room, and shortly afterwards, Edith followed closely behind.

Lexie’s face changed and she instantly understood what was going on.

It was Edith who knocked her out, and Edith was the one who brought her here!

[Why did you set me up?]

“Who set you up? Don’t you talk nonsense!”

Kevin said, “I thought there was something wrong before I came here, so I got the hotel’s surveillance first. Lexie was obviously forcibly kidnapped by you and sent here, and you set it up from start to finish.”

Edith instantly turned pale.

“No, Alan, it’s my sister she drank too much on her own, I had no choice but to send her to the hotel, after sending her over, I went downstairs and called you, wanting you to come and pick her up, but … but Kevin came!”

Looking at Alan’s cold face, Edith bit the bullet, “Yes, Kevin must have been called over by my sister, she had too much to drink and spilled the beans after drinking, so she must have had thoughts about Kevin.”

“Only a sinister woman like you would be full of filth and nastiness!”

Kevin gave Edith a cold, mocking look, not hiding his disgust in the slightest.

“Such a broken lie, Alan, and you still believe her bullshit?”

Edith was anxious, “Alan, it’s really my sister who drank too much on her own, I don’t know what all this is about.”

All three fell eyes on Alan, and Lexie was no exception.

The truth was so obvious. What should he say?

Alan, however, just glanced at Lexie and dropped a nonchalant sentence, “Since you’re fine, change your clothes and go home.”

Lexie was stunned and disbelieved.

Kevin was also taken aback, “Alan.”

“I still have things to do at the office, Kevin, since you’re here, send her home.”

After saying this, Alan glanced at Lexie, not a bit of temperature could be seen in his eyes.

Looking at the man’s back as he left, Lexie only felt a pot of cold water pouring down from her head, chilling her to the bone.

Edith became even more smug and snorted coldly towards Lexie, “Alan, wait for me.”

The voices in the corridor faded away.

“Lexie, are you alright?”

Lexie pulled the corner of her mouth bitterly.

[I’m fine, thanks.]

Kevin clenched his fist, his heart full of discontent.

That night, Lexie did not go back to the Howard’s.

Grandma had made dumplings and was overjoyed to see Lexie back.

“I knew you would be back, see, here you are.”

“Just you alone?” Grandma glanced behind Lexie, “Your man didn’t come with you?”

Lexie threw herself into her Grandma’s arms, shielding her reddened eyes.

“What’s wrong? You are still pouting with grandma?”

The flour from the dumplings was still on her hands when she saw the girl in her arms suddenly start to shrug her shoulders and realised something was wrong.

“Lexie, what’s wrong? Who has bullied you?”

As her Grandma’s concerned voice fell on her ears, Lexie could no longer hold back her tears.

It was so aggravating.

She didn’t feel anything when she suffered the cold shoulder after she married into the Howard family.

Being slapped in public by Tina and having strange looks all over the library wasn’t much harder to bear.

Being set up by Edith had never been that hard either.

But today, seeing Alan’s indifferent attitude towards her, she could not hold back her aggression.

Lexie was crying sadly.

Grandma patted Lexie’s back, and when Lexie stopped crying, she poured a glass of water, “Tell grandma, who is bullying you, is it that Alan?”

Lexie choked back a sob.

[No, I’ve just been under a lot of pressure at work lately].

“Still trying to lie to me, I watched you grow up, don’t I know your character?”

Lexie had always been a well-behaved and understanding child who had been independent since she was a child, how could she be crying like this just because of the pressure of work?

[Grandma, it’s really nothing, I’ll go and cook dumplings for you.]

After saying this, Lexie wiped her tears and headed for the kitchen, refusing to say anything.
