My Mute Wife

Chapter 77 Add the Swing

Lexie was stunned, and the warmth coming from the back of her hand made her overwhelmed.

“I’ll pick you up as soon as the project at Howard Group is over.”

Alan’s voice was low and strong, and Lexie’s heart inexplicably jumbled violently, not the normal rhythm.

Alan’s car slowly drove out of the gates of the summer resort.

On the balcony on the second floor of the villa, Tina’s face was sunken.

“What the hell does Grandpa think? Is the old man confused? I can’t believe he told this mute to live here!”

“Keeping her here is probably to keep her from influencing Mr. Alan’s decision on the group, so I can see that your prediction is right.” The assistant’s voice came from behind her.

“But I didn’t expect Grandpa to be so soft-hearted, and now that he’s left her behind, I’m afraid the entire Howard family thinks she has Grandpa’s approval and is officially a member of the Howard family!”

Tina slapped on the balcony hard, her eyes stern, “Now with her here, I can do nothing about her.”

“Miss Tina, didn’t you ask someone to check on Edith? Maybe that incident really has nothing to do with Lexie.”

“How’s the investigation going?”

The assistant pondered for a moment, “Edith has been with Mr. Kevin recently, and she has actively signed up to attend the hospital’s symposiums, exchange meetings and such, and …”

“And what?”

“And I see that Peter has made a private appointment to see Mrs. Stewart, and it looks like he has some interest in Mr. Kevin.”

“She likes Kevin?” Tina didn’t expect it, “When was that?”

After all, before this, she had heard Edith complain that it was her who should have married into the Howard family instead of her mute sister, and she had always been upset about this matter, so how could she turn to someone else now?

“News from the hospital, quite a long time ago, and it was before the Mitchell family’s birthday banquet when Edith works for Mr. Kevin as an assistant.”

At those words, Tina’s brow furrowed deeply.

She originally didn’t believe that Edith would go and snitch, after all, the matter between herself and Victor didn’t get in her way, and right now Edith liked Kevin, so she was even less involved.

On the balcony, a fresh breeze gusted, and out of the corner of her eye, Tina glanced at the parking lot in the distance.

“Lexie drove herself here last night, didn’t she?”

The assistant was stunned slightly, “Yes.”

Looking at the white car, Tina’s eyes flooded with a touch of sinister venom, she hated it when people played tricks with her.

After Alan left, Lexie sent a message to Myles.

“The plan may have to be brought forward.”

Myles soon replied, “Is something wrong?”

“Mr. Stanley is holding me in a suburban mountain resort.”

“What did he do to you? Are you okay?”

“I am fine for now, but I think now would be a good time. I took the panhandle road to come here, which is a different route than we had planned before, but it might make more sense if I had an accident on the drive back to the city.”

The original plan to ‘kill herself’ was hardly convincing to Alan, after all, with so many ways to kill herself, it was unthinkable that she had to run out in her car, but there was a more suitable reason in front of her.

Whatever the reason, she was driving down from the summer resort and if something happened on the way, it was an accident.

After a while, her phone vibrated and a message from Myles popped up.

“I’ll support you no matter what you decide, take it easy for now and make sure you’re safe while I get Flora to discuss this matter.”

“Okay.”

After sending the last message, there came a knock on the door.

Lexie immediately deleted all the messages and turned around.

“Mrs. Howard,” the woman who came in wore the uniform overalls of the maids, her face expressionless like a robot, “Butler Lee told me to show you around.”

[No, I don’t want to go out.]

“Then I’ll let you know when it’s time for lunch.”

After the door closed, Lexie sighed in relief and sat down on the edge of the bed, holding her phone.

She unconsciously looked around the room she was in, always feeling as if a pair of eyes had been watching her since she had stepped into the house, and that no matter what she did, the other party would know.

After the afternoon meeting, Alan returned to his office.

Jack sent three sets of renovation drawings. This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.

“The designer has made these three sets of drawings out in different styles as you requested, which one do you think is suitable?”

Alan looked at it carefully for a moment, “What do you think?”

“I think?” Jack hesitated for a moment, “This one on the left is a combination of Greek culture with an elaborate mythological romanticism tone, and this one in the middle is an extended European court style, luxurious and noble …”

“But I don’t think those are the main things.”

Alan asked carelessly, “What is the main thing?”

“This one, in the middle, has the brightest and warmest tones, especially the design of this small garden, and if you have a swing chair in the small garden, the picture should be beautiful with the sun setting and Mrs. Howard reading a book there, or playing with the children.”

At those words, the office suddenly fell silent.

“Did I mention this house is for her to live in after it’s renovated?”

This talkative tongue was going to get Jack killed sooner or later.

For a long moment, Alan tapped twice on the table, “This one.”

Jack looked over cautiously, and then he saw a long finger pointing at the picture in the middle, and he instantly smiled with joy, “I’ll have the designer bring someone to start the work.”

“Wait.”

“Yes?”

“Add the swings.”

Jack froze at first, then responded, “Okay.”

The door to the office closed, Alan resumed his seat in the chair, casually flipping open the folder in his hand, which was information about Lexie compiled by Jack..

Thinking of his own identical experience as a child, Alan’s brow followed with a fierce jump, as if the fire that had been twenty years in the past was right before his eyes, instantly causing him to clench his fists.

Peter was not worthy of being a father or even a human being.

After nightfall, Alan leaned against his bed and read a book.

It was late at night, yet somehow he couldn’t sleep, the pillow and quilt seemed to still smell familiar, and never at any time had he felt so empty in this house.

Swiping open his phone and glancing at it, there were no personal messages other than unprocessed emails.

Diana was awakened by the sound of an engine outside the window.

“Marry? Is Kevin back?”

She emerged from the bedroom and called out towards the stairs.

Marry had just come out of the nanny’s room with her coat on, and answered in a hurry, “Mr. Kevin is on night duty tonight, and it seems to be Mr. Alan who went out.”

“Alan?” Diana immediately sobered up, “He drove himself out in the middle of the night this time? Where did he go?”

Marry shook her head, “The maids are all resting, and Mr. Alan didn’t tell anyone, I just heard you call me here.”

Diana frowned, not knowing what came to her mind, her face sank steeply, “He won’t be going …”
