My Mute Wife

Chapter 54 Divorce Him

“Keep the wound out of the water for a couple of days, or it will easily get infected.”

[Thank you, Dr. Stewart.]

“No need to be polite with me,” Kevin gathered the medicine box while glancing at the ice pack next to him, “Don’t use this anymore, it’s okay to reduce the swelling, but you have a trauma.”

Lexie nodded.

She had originally just taken an ice pack for the pain, and after the ointment was applied, her cheek, which had been on fire, was covered with a layer of coolness and the pain was much lessened, and she didn’t need the ice pack.

“How did you get the injury?”

Lexie shook her head, [Caused by my carelessness].

It was getting late, and Kevin had been in her room long enough, so even though Alan had called him in this time, she didn’t dare delay much.

Seeing Lexie looking at her watch, Kevin knew what she meant, and gave a bitter smile, “Then you can rest first, I’m going out.”

Lexie nodded towards him.

Kevin passed by Alan’s study on his way back to his room.

He didn’t know if it was intentional or not, but the door to the study was rarely open, and Alan was sitting behind his desk, flipping through papers as usual.

Kevin walked to the door and knocked on the room door, waiting until Alan looked up before saying, “Alan, Lexie’s injury is nothing serious, don’t worry.”

“Thanks,” Alan looked at him and corrected, “You should call her cousin-in-law.”

Kevin’s hand carrying the medicine box tightened slightly and he said with a straight face, “Instead of looking for these insignificant problems of mine, you should care more about her.”

“This is our business, not yours.”

Alan’s gaze fell back to the paper in his hand, “Close the door for me when you leave.”

Kevin’s brow knitted instantly.

A slamming sound came from the doorway, softly.

Even when he was angry, Kevin would still exercise rational restraint and maintain his good manners, which was the point where Alan and he couldn’t get along the most.

After the footsteps outside the door were far away, Alan fished out his phone and made a call.

“Arrange for two men to follow Lexie around.”

Jack froze for a moment, and wondered, “Didn’t you say before that it was unnecessary?”

Alan said, “Keep her safe.”

For two days in a row, Lexie had to wear a mask to work.

What happened in the library door spread around, colleagues were all informed, but kept silent before her, but behind the scenes, they were gossiping.

In front of the library shelves, Lexie filed the returned books as usual.

Across the row of bookshelves, a familiar voice came.

“I haven’t heard of her having a boyfriend before, but suddenly she’s married, so it’s guaranteed that she is a mistress.”

“I heard that too, she was beaten up so badly that day and she did not even fight back.”

“That was her husband who’s protecting her, right? He’s quite handsome.”

Lexie gripped the book in her hand and gently took a step back towards the inner side of the bookshelf, using the shelter of the bookshelf until the two colleagues had walked away, and only then did she straighten up and set the book on the shelf as if nothing had happened.

“Why don’t you explain when they said that about you?”

A male voice suddenly sounded behind her, and Lexie froze for a moment before turning around to see Myles.

She knew that Myles was coming, for she woke up in the morning to see a message from Myles saying that he had something for her.

[I can’t control what people say.]

“Where’s your husband? Just let you get bullied like that?”

Myles wrinkled his brows with an annoyed look, “Last time it was his cousin, this time it’s your colleague, and this is what you’re telling me that you’re having a good life?”NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.

Lexie didn’t understand why Myles was so angry as soon as he saw her and frowned.

[What’s wrong with you?]

Myles wanted to say something, but they were in the library, so he simply pulled Lexie, “You go out with me.”

Lexie was dragged by him all the way to the open space between the two buildings of the library.

“Lexie, tell me seriously, did you marry Alan of your own free will?”

Myles let go of her hand, with a rare serious look.

Lexie gasped and her chest rose and fell violently, hearing this, her heart stuttered and she turned her face away to try to avoid Myles’ gaze.

Myles, however, saw right through her and said in a deep voice, “Look me in the eye and don’t lie.”

Lexie pinched her palm, forcing herself to calm down and look up squarely at Myles.

[I have nothing to say to you.]

“It was Peter who forced you.”

Myles bluntly told the truth, “For the sake of Mitchell Pharmaceutical Group’s capital turnover, he sold you to Alan.”

He said in a definite tone, without hesitation, not giving Lexie any chance to argue.

Lexie looked at him in dismay.

[How do you know?]

Myles took a deep breath and grimaced, “That’s really true.”

[Myles]

Lexie let out an inward cry of surprise, but failed to stop it, watching as the man cursed ‘fuck’ before turning around and slamming his fist hard into the wall.

Bright red blood slid down the snowy white walls.

Lexie’s eyes widened and she sharply grabbed his wrist to check it, the skin on his joints was broken, and the white wall plaster was stained with blood, shocking to the eyes.

[You’re coming with me to the hospital.]

Myles pulled her back, “Lexie, divorce him and leave the Howard family.”

Lexie’s footsteps paused, her back turned to Myles and she didn’t dare to turn back.

She wanted to get a divorce, to leave the Howard family and to leave that horrible man.

“I know what you’re worried about, I’ll help you settle grandma, if you’re worried about the power of the Howard Group, I can settle grandma abroad in advance. And I’ll personally help you with the divorce lawsuit, I promise, you’ll be able to leave the Howard family unharmed.”

Myles was a lawyer of fame in the industry, and he did have the confidence to say this.

It was a long time before Lexie gathered the courage to turn around and face Myles.

[Thanks, but I can’t go yet.]

“Why?” Myles’ face changed and he snapped in anger, “What are you waiting for? I’ve heard all about it, that Alan is unscrupulous and profit-oriented, what kind of life have you been living in the Howard family?”

Lexie asked curiously, [Who told you all this?]

Myles had only just returned home, and he wouldn’t suddenly know so much about it if someone hadn’t told him this on purpose.

“Does it matter? Isn’t that all true?”

Lexie nodded solemnly, her gaze calm.

[Yes]

Intuition told her that someone had set a trap in the dark and got Myles involved.

Knowing that Lexie was a stubborn person, Myles could only confess, “I don’t know who it is, I suddenly received an anonymous text message last night, but the number did not exist when I dialed it back.”

Saying that, he handed his phone to Lexie, “Look.”

The content of the text message was not much, just saying that Lexie was forced to marry into the Howard family by Peter and that she had a hard time in the family, including being treated badly by the maids and setting up.

After reading the text message, Lexie had pretty much understood it in her heart.

[Myles, do you really want to help me?]
