Chapter 75
Chapter 75
“Alex?” Candice had just wanted to speak when she suddenly heard Sonia’s voice.
She raised her eyes and looked, and saw Sonia was standing not far away with her luggage. Her face
became pale as she looked at them.
Alex was quite surprised to see Sonia there. He paused before letting go of his arms that were holding
Candice. He walked over to Sonia and asked, “Why are you here?”
“…” Sonia glanced at Candie and then saw Alex frowning. Her eyes were red as she sobbed, “I have
some vacation days left, so I wanted to come over and accompany you, but…”
She extended her hand and grabbed Alex’s clothes and would glance at Candice every once in a while,
as if
she had suffered much.
Sieg, who was at the side, interrupted them and said. “When I said I was coming yesterday, Sonia said
that she wanted to come immediately.”
He then teased Alex and said, “You must be having a great time, right? This is such a great surprise!
Your girlfriend traveled all the way here to visit you.”
Alex didn’t answer him and simply took the luggage from Sonia’s hand and said in a deep voice, “I’ll
take you
upstairs to rest.”
Sonia’s eyes were still red as she looked at Alex.
Alex paused and said, “We’ll talk when we’re upstairs.”
The vibe between them was loving, as if they had forgotten that Candice was nearby.
It was not until Sonia passed by that Candice greeted her with a stiff voice. Only then did Sonia
acknowledge
her presence.
She watched as Alex considerately took Sonia’s luggage and suddenly felt a discomfort in her wrist.
She guessed it had to have happened when she subconsciously resisted being in Alex’s arms, causing
her hand to press against his chest.
Since Sonia was here, Candice thought that given Alex’s personality, he would tell Sonia to follow him
after
that.
But surprisingly, when it was lunch, Alex then called her down.
“Ms. Renault,” Sonia said with a sweet smile. But if one were to take a more careful look, one would
notice
that her makeup was lighter, and her accessories were much more valuable. She also looked much
more
mature than before.
From the looks of it, Alex had probably explained everything.
When Candice looked around and didn’t see Alex, she nodded and asked, “Isn’t Alex around?”

“He’s on a call” Sonia said as she scanned Candice, with a curious look in her eyes.
Candice had nothing much to say to her in the first place. She then pretended not to see her curiosity
and simply looked at her mobile.
However, Sonia had something to say. She faintly called out to Candice, and she raised her head.
“What is it?”
“Alex…” Sonia lowered her head and said before a slight pause. “Is he doing alright during this time?”
Candice looked at her, but there was no doubt that she was trying to check on him with this question.
To find out if Alex had been together with another woman at this time.
Or to make it easier to see if she had anything with Alex again.
Candice then said to her with a cold expression, “You should ask him directly.”
Sonia was becoming somewhat awkward, but she was still trying to make up an excuse. “He won’t tell
me if he’s not doing well.”
Despite saying that, her eyes had always been with Candice.
It was obvious that Sonia was very suspicious of Candice.
Candice looked down. Just as she had wanted to say something, she then saw Alex coming from the
outside.
His eyes glanced at Candice before frowning again. “You haven’t called for a cab yet?”
“Ms. Renault just came down too. She probably hasn’t had the time yet.” Sonia immediately held Alex’s
arm and spoke up for Candice sweetly.
Alex then said in a dispassionate tone, “Are you going to call it now?”
Candice’s hand paused. She was supposed to be on leave today as well, but Alex must have forgotten.
She pressed her lips and said nothing, then followed them to the branch.
Mr. Welch was already waiting outside the door. When he saw Alex, he greeted him with a smile. “Mr.
Elysian, Ms. Burgess is already waiting inside.”
After he said that, only did Candice notice that she hadn’t seen Nina today. She thought she was still at Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
the
hotel.
Alex said nothing and simply walked in.
Sonia then walked next to Candice and asked, “Ms. Renault, who’s this Ms. Burgess?”
Who else?
There was already an answer in her mind, but she still said, “A work partner.”
Sonia heaved a sigh, but before she could even feel at rest, she saw Nina waiting in the meeting room.
Nina glanced at Sonia before moving her sight to Candice. “You’re willing to come to work today? How
rare.”
Candice’s hand was still injured and hadn’t recovered. While she was already quite upset with Nina,
she
remained composed and put the documents in front of Alex. She then said, “I am Mr. Elysian’s
secretary. This is my job.”
Nina sneered and said, “Normal people can’t afford to have a secretary like you.”
Candice knew she was talking about what had happened earlier, but Sonia didn’t.
She looked at Candice and Nina suspiciously before walking over to Alex’s side and said, “Alex, I don’t
want to bother you. I’ll wait for you outside.”
Alex looked up and then gave a document to her. “No need.”
And then, he looked at Candice and said emotionlessly. “You may leave.”
