Chapter 48
Chapter 48
For Sonia to work alongside the proposal with Candice, she couldn’t just sit at the side and watch.
The next day, she brought her belongings downstairs, standing obediently in front of Candice and
addressing Candice respectfully.
Candice handed her the materials for Silver Ocean Industries and said, “Organize all the data before
noon.”
This time. Sonia didn’t make a fuss. Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
She knew the benefits of following Candice, so she diligently focused on the task. However, being
young and having a relationship with Alex, she soon clashed with the other office colleagues.
The information for Silver Ocean Industries was complex, and Candice, already bothered by the chaos,
found it
even more annoying.
She stood up and left the office, heading to the pantry for a break.
As soon as she arrived in the pantry, her phone rang.
It was a call from Yvonne again.
Yvonne rarely contacted her so frequently, so Candice hesitated momentarily before answering the call
Yvonne was sobbing heavily and struggling to catch her breath.
Candice waited for her to cry enough before asking. “What do you want? Just say it.”
When Candice returned from the pantry, her face was even colder than before.
Yvonne had asked for another ten thousand dollars, claiming Peach’s medical expenses were not
enough, and the hospital wanted to discharge her forcefully.
Candice pinched her brow, feeling a strong headache building.
“Candice, when will the proposal be finished?”
Coincidentally, Sonia approached at this moment and asked in a soft voice.
Candice felt irritated. Even though she tried to suppress her anger, her tone still sounded harsh, “You
can do it
yourself.”
Sonia bit her lip and retreated.
However, at lunchtime, she treated everyone in the office to milk tea, intentionally excluding Candice.
“Candice, I remember you don’t like milk tea, so I didn’t buy one for you. Hope you don’t mind,” she
innocently said to Candice.
Candice was staring at the proposal documents in silence and had a throbbing headache.
She didn’t have the energy to deal with Sonia.
At the end of the workday. Candice needed to go out to pick up something. As she stepped out of the
office. she collided with Alex, who was coming to pick up Sonia after work.
She ducked to the side without uttering a word.
Alex didn’t look at her, heading straight to find Sonia, who was still working on some forms.
She awkwardly looked at Alex. “I have a lot of work left. Maybe you shouldn’t wait for me.”
Alex casually brought over a stool and said, “You can continue your work. I’ll wait.”
Sonia blushed, unable to resist glancing triumphantly at Candice.
Candice had her head down and was diligently working on the proposal. She had an indifferent look on
her face and looked like a working robot.
When her overtime ended, it was already dark outside. Candice packed up and left. It was only when
she reached downstairs that she realized it was raining.
Just as Candice settled into the driver’s seat, someone knocked on the window.
Alex stood outside, holding an umbrella.
Candice rolled down the window, and Alex said calmly, “My car broke down.”
It meant Candice had to give him a ride.
And also Sonia.
Driving in the rain wasn’t easy. Candice drove slowly, with Alex and Sonia sitting in the back,
occasionally exchanging hushed words that Candice couldn’t quite make out.
Candice drove and ignored the two in the back, leaving a slight crack in the window to listen to the rain
outside.
As Candice turned a corner, Sieg called to Alex to invite him to a bar.
Alex agreed. He looked at Candice and said, “Go to GT.”
They
were a
almost reaching Sonia’s home, and going to GT would require a detour.
Candice originally planned to drop off Sonia first, but Sonia held Alex’s hand and said coquettishly.
“Lex, take
me with you, okay?”
Candice looked at Alex through the rearview mirror. His expression was cold. The passing streetlights
occasionally softened it, revealing a hint of warmth.
