My Mirror Image by Maybe Not (Candice And Alex’s)

Chapter 0523

Chapter 0523

He closed his eyes, his breathing becoming slightly rapid. "I never thought of doing such a thing to you, Candice. Please trust me."

Candice remained silent, and Alex looked at her. The only sound in the room was Ellis' mumbling.

After a while, Candice stood up. She lowered her eyes, hiding the turmoil in her heart.

She never wanted to mention the matter of Dorrington Hospital again in her life.

Without looking at Alex, she just said, "Wear a mask when you're with her. Don't pass your cold to her."

After saying this, she left, but not without adding, "I'll be back soon."

As soon as Candice left, Alex sat at the table for a while before making a move. He sighed with relief, tilting his head back. Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.

It was fine.

He still had a chance to explain to her.

He still had a chance.

Ellis did not know what he was thinking. Having spent some time with Alex, she was no longer shy. After finishing her milk, she directed Alex to take the bottle.

Alex looked at the face so similar to his own and felt a sense of wonder.

But the next moment, he thought about how Candice, pregnant, had to endure such grievances, and how she had to go to South City alone to give birth, and his heart ached.

Sitting down next to Ellis, Alex looked at his daughter's soft face, his eyes gradually softening. "Little Berry, is Mommy very angry now?"

Ellis looked at him and said unclearly, "Mul... Mulberry."

Alex paused, patiently correcting her, "It's Daddy, not Mulberry."

Ellis repeated, "Mulberry."

Alex insisted, "It's Daddy."

Ellis repeated yet again, "Mulberry."

Alex tried again, "Daddy. You should say ‘Daddy’."

Alex was speechless.

When Sieg called, Alex was watching Ellis crawling around on the carpet.

He was afraid that she would bump into something, so he moved all the chairs in the living room aside. Feeling that the carpet was too thin, he called someone to custom make a new layer of woolen blanket, and he then reluctantly placed Ellis in the most spacious area of the living room, letting her play on her own.

On the other end, it was evening for Sieg. From the sound of it, he was in a nightclub. He asked Alex, "What's up? Are you three, the sickly trio, still together?"

Alex replied coldly, "If you have nothing useful to say, then don't speak."

"Fine, I see that my kindness has been treated as ill intention." Sieg said, "I'm just reminding you. If you don't come back soon, Oscar won't be controllable anymore. After your old man steps down, his position remains unaffected. I bet there are already many moves being made in Aether."

Alex just hummed an acknowledgment, seeming not to care much.

Sieg asked, "What are you doing?"

Alex said, "I'm watching my daughter learn how to walk."

After a pause, he added, "But she's still too young and doesn't know how to walk, so she can only crawl on the carpet."

"Yeah, but she's very smart, so she won't fall."

Sieg was rendered speechless.

Sieg hung up. He had no interest in whether Alex's daughter was crawling or not.

Alex threw his phone directly on the sofa. He watched as Ellis tried to crawl out of the boundary of the carpet and went over to pick her up and put her back on the carpet.

Ellis protested unhappily. "Mulberry! Mulberry!"

Alex was about to correct her when Candice returned.

She looked at the standoff from the door and picked up Ellis directly.

Alex followed, and said, "Little Berry is very well-behaved. She hasn't cried all morning."

"Mulberry! Mulberry!" As soon as he finished speaking, he heard Ellis' babbling.

Alex hesitated and said, "But she keeps calling me Mulberry. That should be corrected."

Candice paused, looking at him with a faint gaze.
