Chapter 92 Shaming Them
Scarlett snickered excitedly. She wouldn’t give up any chance to defeat Julianna.
Christopher was the breakthrough point she had been waiting for.
Frank and Cindy scowled after hearing their exchange. Christopher was not Douglas’ match, and now
they were being compared to each other. Frank promptly regretted bringing Christopher to dinner. Ugh,
this is humiliating! I should be enjoying Fabian’s flattery tonight. Christopher is ruining everything for
me!
Frank glanced at Fabian and realized the latter was smiling placidly. At once, his fury increased.
Julianna was about to defend Christopher when the latter shot the rest a grin. “Thanks for the offer, but
I’ve been working at a friend’s clinic. I’m pretty busy, actually. I write proposals in my free time.”
Scarlett burst out laughing. “You write proposals? What does a retired soldier like you know about
proposals?” she jeered.
“Yes, I’m not an expert, but I’ve cut a deal with Centurion Corporation,” Christopher responded casually.
Everyone—Fabian, Scarlett, Henrietta, and Douglas—blanched after hearing his words. None of them
had expected Christopher to say that out loud.
Douglas might sound like an eligible bachelor, but he was nothing compared to the deal with Centurion
Corporation.
Centurion Corporation was a legendary existence in society.
Besides, Christopher had taken the precious opportunity away from Cordrington Corporation. Fabian
felt a stab in his heart whenever he thought of that.
When Frank heard what Christopher had to say and saw how Fabian was at the receiving end of
Christopher’s stick, he promptly guffawed. Looks like my son-in-law isn’t completely useless, huh?
Cindy was also upset after having to humble herself before Fabian’s family for too long. Now that Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
Christopher had turned the tables, she smirked and said, “Oh, it’s just a collaboration with Centurion
Corporation. He isn’t as capable as your Douglas. Don’t mention it.”
Her words merely served to increase Fabian’s family’s embarrassment.
Don’t mention it? They are obviously on different levels!
Even Douglas himself was feeling aggrieved. He shot Christopher a glare. He had assumed his family
and educational background were better than Christopher’s. Alas, his plan had gone awry.
Fabio said indignantly, “That’s because Christopher got lucky. The Cordringtons wiped out their rivals,
but Daniel ended up being arrested. Besides, you happened to own the piece of land. Otherwise, you
wouldn’t have won the bid!”
“Oh, I see. You’re really lucky, huh? I envy you,” Douglas commented with a smirk.
Fabian shot his son a look. As Fabio’s words had managed to even the score, Frank was at a loss for
words.
Christopher took a sip of the tea as his lips curved into a smile. “Oh, I have to thank Fabio for that. He’s
generous enough to gift the land to our family. I admit that I’m not that capable, but Lady Luck is always
on my side. Two days after Fabio gave me the land, it is now worth tens of millions. Some people work
hard their entire life to earn tens of millions for their offspring, but I depend on luck to get it.”
Fabian’s family nearly exploded with rage after hearing that. Fabian and Fabio, especially, were
regretting giving out the land worth tens of millions to Christopher.
By mentioning the matter again, Christopher was clearly shaming them.
Sitting beside Christopher, Julianna couldn’t stop a giggle from escaping her lips. She covered her
mouth hastily and said, “I’m sorry!”
Never in Julianna’s wildest dreams did she know her husband would say that out loud. She noticed
how Douglas and Scarlett blanched in dismay when Christopher mentioned how some people work
hard their entire life to earn tens of millions for their offspring.
Fabian was old and sly enough to remain calm. His lips curled as he urged, “Come, let’s eat. Not even
those who are worth tens of millions have the opportunity to enter the VIP room at Gold River Hotel!”
Douglas glanced at Fabian, feeling grateful for the latter’s help. His usual arrogance returned as he
said gleefully, “Mr. Murray’s right. Not everyone can reserve a VIP room. It isn’t about money.”
Christopher smiled without saying anything. Gold River Hotel is nothing. I own the entire Globetrotter
Lake. Did I boast about it?
Right then, a server arrived with a young man. The young man was huffing, “What’s going on? Why is
someone in the VIP room? Don’t they know that I, Tyler Wheeler, want to treat someone else to a
meal? Kick them out!”
