Skylar felt a sharp pang in her heart as she looked at Wendy. The latter appeared like a broken doll, with tears in her eyes that never fell. Her face was pale as she stared at her family.
“Wendy, how are you?” Simona asked urgently upon seeing Wendy.
When she returned to school, she faced new classmates, all of whom were a year younger than her. The first person to become her friend was Wendy.
Wendy shook her head weakly. “I… I’m fine.”
But she knew she could never return to school now.
Valencia and Jimmy had initially wanted her to skip college and marry right away. Now, with her current condition… they would surely never allow her to return to school.

Wendy took a step back, her face ashen as she looked at them. Despite her frailty, she held on to her decision with courage. “I don’t want money. I want those boys to pay for what they did today.”
“Are you out of your mind?” Valencia couldn’t hold back any longer and moved toward Wendy, ready to strike her.
It was clear that physical abuse had been a common occurrence for Wendy.
Wendy took another step back, looking at Valencia with despair. “Is it only when I’m dead that you’ll be satisfied? No, I can’t die. Even if I die, you won’t mourn for me.”

“Get out of the way!” Jimmy tried to push Skylar aside.
As his hand reached out to touch Skylar, someone kicked Jimmy aside, sending him sprawling.
“Did they hurt you?” Joe’s face was dark as he checked Skylar for injuries.
Skylar sighed with relief upon seeing Joe. She had handed her phone to Simona after making a call.
