Chapter 352 To Probe into It
Abbot stood opposite Rebecca and fixed his eyes on her with interest. His slanted eyes were filled with
calculation, and he looked completely different from his usual silly-looking self.
Receiving no reply from him, Rebecca was anxious as she said, "Mr. Carter."
Abbot raised his chin and sneered bluntly, saying, "Kneel and kowtow hard."
Rebecca was wordless. Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
Abbot then took two steps forward and looked down at her condescendingly. "Since you said it yourself,
if I don't play along, I might appear petty."
Rebecca was still silent.
Abbot leaned down, approached Rebecca, and scoffed, "You pure college student."
Rebecca was taken aback and almost choked on her own saliva.
When Colin called Abbot, Rebecca was coughing nonstop against the roaring wind.
Abbot took out his phone and answer the call. "Hello, Colin," said he.
Colin joked, "Where are you?"
Abbot lied without turning a hair and answered, "At home."
Colin said meaningfully, "Accompany your mom at home?"
Abbot instinctively uttered, "Mm-hmm".
Colin ridiculed, "Is the wind by the river strong?"
Abbot lost his tongue.
After a few seconds, he dissolved into laughter and asked, "So, you wanna help her?"
Colin smiled and stated, "No, Faye and I would like to invite you to a meal. If you don't mind, take
Rebecca with you."
Abbot chuckled and uttered, "What if I don't want to?"
Colin said, "If you're being petty like this, we may misunderstand that you are still not over Jaquelin."
Abbot said, "Are you goading me here?"
Colin smiled and uttered in a mellow voice, "You seem brainy today."
With that, Abbot broke into a smile. After being silent for a moment, he looked at Rebecca, who was
shivering by the river, and replied, "Make a reservation at Marriott."
Colin lowered his voice and said, "Don't overdo it in case you scare her out of her wits."
More than an hour later, they met in a private room at Marriott.
Upon seeing Faye, Rebecca scurried to her and linked arms with Faye. She whispered behind Faye's
ear, "That son of bitch tricked me out and played dirty in the new year. How unlucky!"
Faye did not answer; she patted Rebecca's hand as if comforting her.
Rebecca sniffed and continued to murmur, "He tricked me out by saying that he wanted to talk about a
profitable business with me. Then, he drove me directly to the river."
Faye turned a deaf ear to it and turned to wink at Colin.
Colin caught on and strode forward. He took a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket and handed one to
Abbot. "Go out for a cigarette?" asked he.
Abbot pulled a chair and sat down. He leaned against the seat and deliberately put on airs, saying,
"Nope."
Colin patted him on the shoulder and said solemnly, "I have something to talk to you."
Abbot looked sideways at Colin and doubted whether Colin was telling a lie. Eventually, Abbot stood
up, took over the cigarette handed by Colin, and walked out.
As the two guys left, only Faye and Rebecca were in the room now.
Rebecca heaved a sigh of relief, withdrew her arm, and slumped on the chair in front of her. "Faye, it
was so close. You almost wouldn't be able to see me today."
Faye broke into a smile and sat down beside Rebecca. "How's your new year?"
Rebecca pouted and stated, "In short, more weight and less money."
Faye smiled and uttered, "Not bad, you could still make a new year summary."
Hearing that, Rebecca suddenly asked sadly, "Faye, will Abbot be determined to kill me?"
Faye smilingly teased, "Probably?"
In the hallway.
Colin and Abbot stood opposite each other.
Colin looked at Abbot with a faint smile and said, "Did you find it when you two were on a business trip
together?"
Abbot looked at Colin and uttered with clenched teeth, "I don't have many good buddies, otherwise you
would definitely have met your maker now."
With a cigarette in his mouth, Colin laughed and asked with curiosity, "Tell me, how did you find the
truth?"
Abbot asked, "Are you trying to probe into it for your wife?"
Colin took the cigarette off his mouth and flicked it. "You are painting everyone with the same brush. My
wife is not gossipy."
Abbot snorted smilingly and said, "Then why did you ask?"
Colin squinted at Abbot. "Abbot, it's very unlike you. In the past, if you knew anybody deceived you,
you would have tortured them to the core.
"You had already found that Rebecca lied to you during your business trip, but you still took her to
make money with you?"
Abbot put out his cigarette and threw it at his feet. "I think she's wretched."
Colin uttered, "Oh?"
Abbot was silent. Out of the blue, what had happened when Rebecca was drunk on their business trip
popped up in his mind. He then rubbed the fingers that he used to put out the cigarette.
