Three years later

“Jess, honey, when is Tyler is going to be here?”

“In less than fifteen minutes, mom, he just texted, he’s helping Larry with something.”

I was at his parents after ending my office hours earlier from the office. Tyler and I have been house hunting for a while, but since we came back from our year-long honeymoon Tyler has been busy with work.

Our firstborn, Mia, was delivered three months after we came back from our around the world trip and Nancy has been over the moon with babysitting our little girl when I decided to go back to the office five months after giving birth.

Then she couldn’t hide her happiness when she learned that I was pregnant with a baby boy six months later. I didn’t plan to have another baby in such a close time frame but we considered ourselves blessed and couldn’t wait to welcome our baby number two.

“Larry needs to make up his mind, Gemma won’t tolerate him forever. I swear that kid is the baby of the family, even Ralph is more mature than him.” Nancy shook her head while she picks up our little princess from her playpen and the little munchkin was letting out the cutest giggles as her grandma cuddled her in her embrace.

“You need to rest, you’re getting bigger. Take early maternity leave from the office,” Nancy looked at me with softness in her eyes.

“I’m okay mom… but yeah, I’m thinking of taking that leave, you and dad have been helping us a lot with princess Mia here, and we need to find a house before this little guy made an appearance,” I explained while stroking my pregnant belly feeling the little kick of our baby boy.

“Jess, honey, I know you have bad memories with your brother there. But it’s still your family house.” Nancy once again brings up the issue with my house, I had actually talked about it with Tyler and he’s okay as long as I’m okay with moving back there.

“You grew up there, no one is leasing the place. Why don’t you let me take my home decorator to spruce up the place? make cute baby rooms and paint over everything? you can lease it again if you don’t like it. I just thought you might want the kids to get to know your side of the family?”

“Mom…” I couldn’t help to hug her tightly. Between the pregnancy hormones and her sweet grandmotherly thoughts, I love Nancy to bits. I wouldn’t think I’d like her the first time I interact with her, but then her true self was revealed and I can’t stop loving her to this date.

“Mom, Jess, sorry for the detour. Hey, there’s daddy’s little princess,” Tyler grabbed little Mia from her grandma and she giggled loudly when he spun her around and crushed her in his cuddly hug.

“Hey there, baby momma, how are we feeling this afternoon?”

“Hungry, where’s my ice cream cake?” I get off the kitchen stool when he put the takeaway dinner bags on the kitchen island.

This is what our working days consist of, picking little Mia from her grandparents and having dinner with them before we go back to our penthouse apartment. It was getting exhausting for me to wait for the elevator until we reached the top of our apartment building, I didn’t care about the beautiful skyline of the city, not as much as I missed the homey feel of his parents’ house. And obviously staying close to the ground. The penthouse apartment isn’t what I envisioned for our kids to grow up in.

And that’s when I started to rethink his mom’s suggestion.

Nancy shook her head, laughing, while she unpacked the family dinner and plate them onto the dining table. I helped her with the dinnerware and the drinks. We all sit after I took Mia to her baby chair and let her play with her baby food while we have our little family dinner.

Three hours later we arrived back at the penthouse, and Tyler put Mia into her crib while I leave him to take a shower before going to bed.

“Hey beautiful,” he kissed the back of my shoulder as he presses his naked body to my back.

“She’s asleep?” I asked then sighed feeling his hands helping me with the sponge, lathering my body while doing the same to himself.

“Yup,”

“How’s Larry?”

“He shouldn’t be having a problem with Gemma, I thought I had knocked some sense into the man’s thick head. She’s having his child, you think that should tell him that she loves the man…” Tyler turned me around and started kissing me deeper, his hands were to my belly caressing my baby bump.

“They love each other, I think we should let them sort their issues and let Gemma have some breathing space.”

He helped me out of the shower and into my pajamas, he was wearing his usual sexy pajama pants and nothing else when he left to make my night choco drink and I check on princess Mia.

“Right, so mom asked me again about our housing situation and I’m seriously considering my parent’s house. It’s closer to your parents and I think it’s more convenient for the kids, also I think Mia will love the pool.”

Tyler give me my cup of choco before kissing my temple, “You’re the strongest woman I know, and I think it’s a good decision, your parents would want this for you, for the kids, their grandkids.”

Never in a million years, I’d think that I’d go back to the place where I have nightmares about my fucked up brother. But Nancy was right, also Tyler, my parents would’ve wanted us to stay there and raise our kids and make new memories in my family’s house.

It’ll become our home.

“Thank you,” I kissed him and snuggled into the crook of his neck.

“No, my love… you’re the one who’s giving us our lovely kids, our family is here because of you.” He kissed my lips and embrace me in his warm lovely hug.
