Jessie’s lips curled into a sardonic grin. “If he hasn’t been married, then what exactly am I in your life, Mr. Thompson? Please, enlighten my Mom. What’s my role to you?” 

Celia glanced at Chase, perplexed, unaware of any marital developments involving 

him. 

“Mr. Thompson, given our long residence overseas, we’re out of touch with local. affairs. Could you shed some light on the connection between my daughter and yourself?” 

Chase maintained a stoic demeanour as he matter–of–factly declared, “Any 

previous connections are now in the past. Presently, I’m in the process of finalising a divorce.” 

Jessie’s lips curled into a scornful smile. “Mr. Thompson speaks the truth. However, someone did mention he was about to sign a multi–million–dollar contract and departed abruptly!” 

Wasn’t he supposed to be at the company, sealing a significant deal? Why is he still at the White residence, amusing himself with the children? 

Chase’s countenance tightened as he absorbed Jessie’s biting remarks, a flicker of menace shadowing his gaze as he glanced her way. 

Her audacity seems to be growing at the moment! 

Off to the side, Celia observed the exchange between them, seemingly piecing together their connection, her countenance souring in response.-

As she spoke, her voice tapered off abruptly, her notice drawn to the unkind shift. in Chase’s gaze directed at her. 

“This doesn’t concern you,” Chase retorted bluntly. 

Jessie furrowed her brows and positioned herself protectively in front of Celia, squarely confronting Chase. “You ought to display some respect towards my mother! Regardless of Linda’s involvement, speaking to her in such a manner is uncalled for!” 

Chase’s expression remained stoic, his gaze icy as he fixed it upon her, the intensity of his stare growing increasingly ominous. 

Celia swiftly intervened, seeking to diffuse the tension. “It’s alright. We’re all family here, let’s keep things light. I’ll go brew some coffee for everyone.” 

After uttering those words, she hastened her departure. 

Chase cast a quick glance at Linda and the remaining servant before seizing Jessie’s arm and forcefully propelling her upstairs. “Follow me!” 

“Chase, stop it! Let me go!” Jessie fought against his grip, delivering a sharp slap to his hand. His forcefulness caused her to wince in pain. 

Regrettably, her frail body lacked the strength to resist him, leaving her with no choice but to allow him to lead her into the room.
