Mr Grant, Please Be Gentle

Chapter 123 Be offering to do extra work

Though she hesitated for a moment, Blanca finally found the strength to knock on Anna’s door. Soon words came from inside the office, “Come in.”

Blanca took a deep breath and went in. She put the paper printed last night on the desk and said with a rather deferential smile, “This is the file you asked me to print out yesterday, Anna.” She stood quietly, like an obedient child.

“OK. I see.” Anna said. Then she continued to go over some files. For a while, she noticed that Blanca was still standing in front of her. She looked up and asked, “Anything else?”

Blanca was nervous and could feel her palms sweat. She told herself that Anna, unlike any of her previous bosses, was a good leader, and the Empire Group was a fair and just company. She took a deep breath, and put a genuine smile on her face. “I’ve finished the work. I think about what you said yesterday carefully and I think you are right. So, let me know if there’s anything I can do.”

Anna was a little surprised that Blanca was offering to do extra work. She looked at Blanca with admiration and said, “Oh, there will be a meeting later. You can take notes for it.”

“No problem!” Blanca said, her eyes bright with excitement.

As soon as Blanca left Anna’s office, she thought to herself, “Come on, Blanca! Work hard and you will succeed one day! You can do it!” The thought was so irrepressibly uplifting that she tweeted her excitement. Before long, her content gained some likes. Apart from that, there were a few comments about her cartoon figure. Blanca thought it a good opportunity to promote her design. So, she tweeted the cartoon figure designed for Fiona.

At noon, when Blanca was going out for lunch, Isabel came over and pointed to the door. “Someone here to see you.”

“Who is that?” Blanca looked in the direction of Isabel in perplexity and see Curtis standing there.

Curtis was rarely seen in this floor. As expected, his appearance attracted too much attention and a low murmuring filled the office. When Blanca got near, he said, “The Chairman want to go out to lunch with you, Mrs. Grant.”

“Eating out? But he doesn’t like eating in restaurants,” asked Blanca, confused.

“There’s a restaurant downstairs exclusively for the Chairman’s lunch and I was told to take you there,” Curtis explained.

“I see. And just give me a moment,” Blanca returned to her place and put down her staff pass. After saying goodbye to Isabel, she stepped into Matthew’s private elevator with Curtis. The moment they left, there was an outbreak of muttering behind them. This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.

“Oh, my god! It looks like the Chairman loves her very much. No way we still keep her away, right?”

“You are right. I don’t want to make the chairman mad at me.”

“What are you afraid of? Louise was pretty clear about that. Our chairman doesn’t like Blanca at all! Mr. Grant married her solely because she has something on him.”

Upon hearing this, everyone was outraged. They looked at Blanca’s desk with a jealous heart, ‘Why did Blanca have such good luck?’
