Chapter 2 Coffee

Chapter 2 Coffee

"It's 5 am, It's time to get up," I yawn and stretch to turn off my annoying alarm. But I knew the more

annoying the clock was the quicker I come out of bed thus, I can never be late for work.

I lay in bed for two more minutes then got up. For those two minutes, I think about my dream which I

can never seem to remember well. It seems in the dream, I know and see everything clearly but once I

get up my brain is blank.

I walked over to my closet and open the door. I need to look for something suitable to work in. After

finally finding something appropriate to wear, I took out the garments and place them in my hands. I

walk and put the purple button-up shirt and a black skirt that is a little on my knees on my double bed. I

also took out my black two-inch heel which I lived in. I literally lived in them. I remember buying them at

either Wal-Mart or Target. I bought it because since being an assistant secretary, I alway need to dress

professional and having a heel is professional. It is my only heels. It's not like I can afford anymore. I

just satisfy with why I have.

Some persons in the office talked about my bad taste in fashion but it's not like my taste was bad it just

I don't have money to better myself because if I did I wouldn't be working as a slave for Mr. Ryan.

Always on his beckon call.

I made my way to the bathroom and came out thirty minutes later with a towel around my body. Some

persons would ask me why I spend so much time having a shower when I could shower in five minutes

but I really don't like the idea of hurrying and not having a good bath. Hygiene is a very important thing

and people always neglect they're body but I will not. I made sure all my body cleanses the proper way.

I drop the towel and hurriedly put on my clothes then enter the kitchen. I started to make my breakfast,

which consists of only a sandwich with tea. I place all the essentials that are needed to make the

sandwich on the small counter. Egg, bacon, cheese, plantains, bread and lettuce lay on my table ready

to be made a wonderful breakfast.

Thirty minutes later when I finish my breakfast, I went and place food in my pets jars.

Afterwards, I brush my teeth for the second time and exist my home at 6:10 am. One od my dreams a

kid was to always have nice teeth so you can smile.

I had to reach the office by at seven. But I had to walk to the train station, get a ticket and wait for the

subway to come and that took thirty minutes, after which came the subway ride which is usually ten

minutes. The next ten minutes I had to get Mr. Ryan's Café Latté and be at the office at seven.

My journey in the morning are sometimes hard and hectic but I've gotten use it since it's being years

now at this company. Working hard by working over time is a lot of work and energy but it's the only

way I can live. It's not like I have any choice. Getting a job here in New York is very hard. Jobs are

scarce and if you have one that takes care of the necessaries, you need not worry.

I stand in the line to get the coffee for Mr. Ryan. Mr. Ryan stereotyped all Rich men with a business.

He's grumpy, he loves money, he sends me to get coffee on the busy streets of New York, overtime.

I used the time to take in my surroundings. The roads were full with people going in New York's tall

buildings and hurrying, some people looking at their watch, some talking on the phone, some eating,

and walking. Everyone in a rush. New York City is a busy place indeed.

When I reach the top of the line, a friendly face greets me.

"Good morning, Kally," the coffee man said. He was wearing his usual white apron and cap. He looks

quite professional although he is only a coffee maker. New York city folks really appreciated the work

he did.

"Good morning Mike, I'd like the regular please," I said with a light smile. My glasses began to fall off

my face, I used my middle finger to put back on my nose.

He laughed at my nerdy gesture and said, "Two Café Latté coming up,"

He handed me the Café Latté in less than a minute and I gave him $20. "Thanks," I said before it to the This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org: ©.

24 level building.

"Good morning, Ms. Bisson," Charlotte the front desk clerk said. Charlotte, beautiful strawberry blonde

and boobs to die for. She takes men breath away, I guess that's why she's at the desk. To make the

clients stay just a little longer. I'm not saying she's a bitch or anything. She isn't, she is rather nice and

makes all the blond jokes look stupid.

"Good morning Charlotte," I said. I walked over to the elevator, the number 23 was already press so I

forced myself in the corner with the coffees in my hands. The elevator isn't very nice in the morning. If

I'm not careful my toes will be off. Since they were so many who were running to their level because

they didn't want their names to be in the late book.

After another long five minutes of my life, the elevator stopped.

After reaching my stall at 7:00 am, I place my bag and a Café Latté on my desk and made my way to

Mr. Ryan's office with the second Café Latté in my hand.

Without knocking, I open Mr. Ryan's door.

"You're late, Ms. Bisson and I don't tolerate late comers, now where is my Café Latté?" I shrug and

gave him his Café Latté. Mr. Ryan is about sixty years old and every day I wonder why hasn't he

retired as yet. Rumors say that his wife cheated on him with his younger cousin which is why he is so

mean to women. But to be honest, I think he was always this way. His grumpy attitude fit his face. He

had wrinkles, his face had a constant mean look. His once brunette hair is fade with grey hair.

"This Café Latté is cold, who is going to drink this? Go get me a different one." He growls and then

throws the cold Café Latté in the bin. Way to waste good money!

"Stupid old man, do you think it'll be cold if I just took five minutes long elevator trip," I mumble under

my breath. I said that every morning because he does the same thing repeatedly.

"What did you just say Ms. Bisson?" Mr. Ryan said. I know he heard me, that's his reply each morning

before I exit his office to go for another coffee.

"Uhmm..nothing, Mr. Ryan, I'll go get another one," I exit the office and I roll my eyes. I brought the

second Café Latté to the Lounge room and microwaved it.

The Café Latté always get cold by the time I reach his office. That was why I bought two, he throws

away the first one and sends me to buy another one, little did he know I buy a back-up. But it's better

left unsaid.

I made it back to Mr. Ryan office, gave him his Café Latté, and then prolonged my day by doing the

tons of work he and his Secretary placed on my desk.
