Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 150

The room was quiet, filled only with the gentle rhythm of their breathing.

For a brief moment, it was as if their recent arguments had never happened, and they were back to being as in love as ever. Everett found himself unexpectedly yearning for this peacefulness, wishing it could last forever.

Both were drenched in sweat, wrapped in a mix of scents that was hard to describe. Selena felt uncomfortable and, with a bit of regained strength, pushed Everett's arm away and tried to stand up to take a shower. But as soon as her feet hit the ground, they wobbled uncontrollably, barely able to support her, let alone walk.

She couldn't help but mutter a curse under her breath.

Everett, the target of her frustration, just chuckled softly. He got up, easily scooped Selena into his arms, and carried her to the bathroom. He gently set her in the bathtub, filling it with perfectly warm water, and started splashing water over her as if he intended to wash her himself.

Selena wasn't having any of it. She pointed a delicate finger toward the bathroom door, her voice hoarse yet firm, "I don't need your help. Out!"

Everett's voice was low and husky, carrying a teasing magnetism, "I'm just worried you might slip and drown. How could I let that happen?" What a convenient excuse!

Selena was fuming again, her words slipping out unchecked. "This is all because you were too rough!" She felt as though she was falling apart.

Everett's gaze darkened at her words.

Realizing too late that she'd misspoken, Selena wished she could bite her tongue. Why did she have to argue with him now? Better yet, she shouldn't say a single word.

But it was too late. Everett steppedTêxt belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

to wriggle away, he pinned her gently against the tub wall. "Seems like you weren't quite

my earlier performance. So, this time, I'll take it slow..."

His forehead rested against hers, as he kissed her moisture-laden, tender lips.

Everett carried Selena back to bed an hour later, wrapped in a bathrobe. She glared at him through gritted teeth. "Everett, you are just too much."

Everett leaned back on the bed,

lighting a cigarette. He took a drag and exhated slowly, the smoke swirling around him, his voice husky and deeply satisfied. "That'll teach you to hold out on me for sodong."

If it weren't for his concern about her delicate body, he might not have stopped at all.

He paused and added, "I'll have Derick get you a gym membership tomorrow and hire a personal trainer. It's time you got in shape."

Selena was lost for words.

Just as he was about to drift off from exhaustion, her words brought him back to full alertness. "Everett, just because I shared your bed tonight doesn't mean anything. There won't be a next time!" "Don't even think there'll be a next time!" Her dark eyes locked onto his, each word articulated with clarity and determination.

Everett just smiled, unconcerned.

-

She was his wife. They were so compatible, and he knew he wasn't ready to let go of her he couldn't get enough of her body. Not only would there be a next time, bot countless more. After all, he never shortchanged himself.

He didn't respond, and Selena didn't bother guessing his thoughts anymore. Her stance was clear.

After a pause, she remembered something else, speaking up again, "Everett, have someone prepare a new set of clothes for me, and... birth control pills."
