Chapter 17
“You were at the juniors’ building within the duration of 12:00pm and 12:20pm, right?” Shane asked.
“Yes.” Miss Maria confirmed. She was in an interview session with alpha Lian and his betas.
“Why?” Shane went on with his questions.
“I was there to get some textbooks for more research on the topics I was, working on, so I asked Alexander to come he’ll carry them.” Miss Maria said with her head up. She had an awkward smile on too, hoping to lift the cold and tense atmosphere around her.
“He didn’t ask about him yet.” Marlin cut in and Miss Maria broaded her smile.
“Well–” She started but Lian interrupted abruptly.
What’s the topic you’re researching on?” He asked with keen and focused eyes.
The question was unexpected. “Pardon?” Miss Maria dropped.
“I mean… you teach literature only and I don’t see what you can research about that in the junior textbooks, that is not in the senior textbooks and is not on the internet.” Lian clarified, with a smirked crawling unto his lips.
“Junior textbooks are revised standards while the senior ones are usually summarised. Besides, I didn’t think of the internet at that time.” Miss Maria replied wittily, with her smile still there.
“Alright. You can leave.” Lian said with a sudden, warm smile.
..
“Lian did you get anything? Why did you send her away?” Marlin asked curiously.
“I think that’s enough , with her. I’m still uncertain about her though.” Lian said, throwing his head back tiredly.
“You can just check with your powers.” Shane said.
“I can’t.” Liam said with a sigh.
“What do you mean by that?” Marlin asked with all seriousness. Seemed he sensed something.
“I’ve not been able to use my powers lately.” Lian explained.
“Why?”
“It’s nothing actually… I’ll be okay, don’t mind it.” Lian said, trying to close the topic.

“I heard alpha Lian’s sister yelled at him yesterday.”
“In this same premises? So what did he do?”
“You expect him to do something? Like beat her up or what? He couldn’t do anything of course, she is his sister.”
“And he is our alpha! Because they are siblings doesn’t give her any fucking right to yell at my darling alpha.”
“Your darling alpha? *scoffs* you’re unbelievable. By the ways, I wonder why she was born his sister, she doesn’t seem any special to me.”
Listening to their conversation while sitting on the water closets in one of the toilets, Mia thought, *Exactly. Why was I born his sister? It would’ve been better if we weren’t relations. .. ugh… why did the moon goddess destine me this way? Huh!*
When she was sure that the girls left, she walked out of the bathroom and turned on the faucet at the ceramic made basin to watch her hands.
Out of the blue, she heard a voice say with so much sarcasm,, “You must be regretting your existence.”
She glanced at the mirror and saw that it was Rosie. She had a smirk on That bitch! She sure knows how to show up during negative periods.,
“I’m not in the mood for your vile talks.” Mia said, not showing interest.
She turned off the faucet and made to leave, but she got blocked by Rosie.
“I’m going talk anyways, whether you’re interested or not.”
Mia sighed. “What do you want from me? You have everything already so why not just leave me alone!” She raised her voice a little.
Rosie’s smirked became more bold. “True, I possess it all now, including your brother. .. Lian.” Rosie said with a sly smile and Mia balled her fists.
“However…” Rosie continued. “The fact that you still exist, annoys me. I’m not comfortable with that. I think you should understand what I want now…. Just disappear!” Rosie said in a vehement tone and with her fierce eyes stuck at Mia’s glowering eyes.
Rosie suddenly withdrew and put on a beautiful, broad smile. “Your cologne smells nice by the way , I want that too.” She said before turning to leave.
Just then, some junior girls entered and as soon as they sighted Rosie, they were quick to give their greetings. Of course, she’s an old student… a senior. She’s just always hanging around jobless ly.
“Hello senior.”
“How are you guys going?” Rosie asked with a soft and kind tone.
“We are doing well, thanks to your concern.” They beamed up.
Rosie smiled again. “I have to go, see you later.”
Mia scoffed inwardly. *What a double faced wench.*
*** Mia’s POV
I noticed Alexander had been staring at Mr for some good minutes. I pretended as if I wasn’t aware but I just couldn’t help but ask what was up.
“Hey, what’s up? You’ve staring at me all day.” I said.
He relaxed. “Oh well, it’s nothing much.” Alexander replied simply.
I poked his arm. “Tell me, I’m sire something is on.” I persisted.Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.
“Okay… I’ll tell you. The drama club are organizing a play for the camp out and they need some new cast urgently.”
“So?” I arched a brow.
“So, I was wondering if you’d like to join.” Alexander said in s careful manner.
“It’s a no!” I shunned.
“Come on Mia…,” He pouted… which I found cute.
“Exams commences next week so there will be no time for me to rehearse anything. ” I said.
“We’ll make time. I promise it would affect our studies… okay?” Alexander begged.
“No no no.” I stood my ground.
“You should have just said you are a bad actor.” Alexander said and looked away.
“What?!” I blurted out. “Have you seen me act? I guess not. I’m thrice as good as those celebrities out there!” I got worked up.
“So how do I know how good you are without seeing you act? Give me a chance to see you act then.” Alexander whined.
I knew already where this was going to result and there was no way out for me. I had to agree.
“Okay. I’ll join the cast for this drama.” I surrendered.
Alexander beamed up. “Deal?”
“Deal.”
*** Author’s POV
The first rehearsal was the next day which was Saturday.
Mia got dressed up already. She proceeded to the ground floor but met Lian there. They stared at each other for some seconds before Mia walked into the living room.
As she was about sit, Lian said, “Do you mind having breakfast with me? I prepared for two.”
Mia was reluctant for a while but later gave in. The two had some butty and tea, accompanied with some fruits.
The atmosphere was very awkward as the two picked on breakfast. They had a lot on their minds.
“Mia… do you hate me that much ?” Lian suddenly asked, breaking the silence.
Mia didn’t reply for some seconds. The question popped up unexpectedly.
“Am I not even allowed to eat with you in peace?” She asked, not sparing a glance.
“Listen Mia, I’m sorry.”
“What are you sorry for ?” Mia retorted, picking up a serviette to wipe her lips.
Lian was speechless. What exactly was he sorry for?
Mia stood up from the dining table to leave. Lian also stood up and held her hand to stop her.
“We need to talk, seriously.”
Mia glared at him. “There is nothing to talk about. Let go, I’m going to be late.”
He refused to let go of her.
“Lian I said let go!” Mia raised her voice.
He suddenly pulled her to himself, hugging her from behind. Mia’s heartbeat rate increased rapidly.
“Mia please… I’m being tortured presently. What would I do without my darling sister? I’ve not been able to do things right these days.”
Mia was short of words. The very fact that he was holding her this way hid words from her throat.
“I know I’ve not been there for you like I’ve always been, and I forced you to do what you hated to do. I deserve to be called a jerk, but you can’t just shun me like this. I want you back Mia.” Lian poured out his mind. That very thing that cause him pain.
Mia was about to talk when the doorbell rang. She knew who it was already. She wriggled herself out of his snuggle immediately and cleared her throat. “Let’s talk later.”
…
“Cut.” Mr Ashton, the drama club coordinator said loudly and the girl and boy who were pre rehearsing stopped acting.
“You two are not getting this. You guys are supposed to act like couples and not siblings.” The assistant coordinator, Mrs Stella, said.
“But it is very hard to because we are actually siblings.” The guy said.
“Then get off that stage!” Mr Ashton yelled, he got worked up already. He had a really bad temper.
“We are sorry sir.” The guys said as they scurried off the stage.
Mr Ashton rubbed his temple, he was very annoyed. “How many newbies are remaining?” He asked.
“That’s all sir.” Mrs Stella said.
“So how are we going to get people to act this characters?!” H shouted again, but Mrs Stella remained unflinched.
Just then, Alexander and Mia walked into the room, jesting and laughing.
Mr Ashton froze for a while to watch them. Then a smile found its way to his lips.
“You two come over here.” He called out to them.
“Good morning Sir, we are here to join the–” Alexander said but got cut off.
“You’re welcome. Get onto the stage.” He ordered.
“But sir, they haven’t filled the membership–” Mrs Stella tried to object but was also cut off.
“Membership form can wait till whenever, this is more important. You two, get on stage, you have to act like couples.”
“Couples?!” Alexander and Mia blurted out at the same time.
“Why are you two surprised? You’re just hearing the word? Do you know I spank members? If not, n ow you do, so get on that stage and show me what you can do.”
