She gripped the knife tightly, lunging at Julian again and again, aiming for his chest.noveldrama
She didn't have a plan. She just followed him, and her only goal was to strike him down.
Her eyes were bloodshot,

murderous intent, and she was determined to kill him.
Julian dodged left and right, still disbelieving that Sonya would go this far. She used to be so gentle.
"Put the knife down! We can talk about this!" he yelled.
The blade plunged into his shoulder. The sharp pain made him scream, and blood instantly soaked through his shirt.
He barely managed to avoid it. If it had struck any closer to his heart, he'd be dead by now!
"Sonya, you're crazy! You really want to kill me?" Julian stared at her in horror.
Sonya gritted her teeth, yanking the knife out, and once again aimed it at his heart.
This time, Julian was truly terrified, his legs trembling as he stumbled back.
"N-no need for this!"
He glanced back at Sonya, who was still chasing him with the knife. At that moment, she was nothing like the person he once knew. "We can talk! Just stop!"
He tripped and fell to the ground. When he looked back, Sonya was already right behind him, knife raised. With a scream, he rolled to the side, barely avoiding the strike. Sweat poured down his face. His shoulder was bleeding, soaking his shirt. His heart was racing, and by the time she swung the knife again, he had even wet himself in fear. He scrambled to his feet and ran, yelling as he went.
"Sonya! I don't want the
money
anymore! I won't bother you again! Please don't kill me! Please!
He didn't dare look back as he rushed to his car, jumped in, and drove off as fast as he could.
Sonya watched him speed away, her anger draining out of her. She leaned against a stone pillar, her legs weak.
Looking down at the bloodstained knife in her hand, she chuckled darkly.
But then the laughter turned into tears.
"Ah!"
She screamed with all her might, letting out all her rage, fear, and reckless abandon.
She didn't want this. She didn't like being this way. But if this was the only way to stop being bullied, then fine. She'd give it everything.
Not knowing when her clinic would open, Sonya decided to return to her hometown.
It was the off-season for farming, and Ryan, Millie, and Sullivan were busy drying fish and smoking meat. They were surprised to see her back.
"Why're you back? Where's Henry? Didn't he come with you?" Millie asked.
Sonya shook her head. "I came alone."
"That lazy Henry must have been busy. I'll call him and give him
a
piece of my mind!" Sullivan huffed.
Sonya smiled faintly. "I'm tired. I'll rest in my room for a while."
Ryan quickly grabbed her bag. "You drove all this way by yourself; of course, you're tired. Go lay down, we'll call you when dinner's ready." "Okay."
She really was exhausted, not just physically, but mentally too.
She lay down on her old bed, inhaling the familiar scent of the sheets. Her racing heart slowly calmed down. And before long, she fell into a deep sleep.

The sky outside was still dark, but there was activity in the yard. Ryan and Millie were making pancakes, doughnuts, and grits.
During the off-season, Ryan and Millie would go village-hopping to sell breakfast.
With the income from their farm and breakfast business, they had supported her through medical school.
After she started working, Sonya wanted to send them some of her salary each month, but Ryan and Millie refused, saying if she sent money, she wouldn't be treating them like family. She stopped sending money but saved enough to build this new house.
Sonya sat up, peering out the window at Ryan and Millie working.
"Sonya seems troubled since she came back."
"Something must have happened."
"You shouldn't ask if she doesn't want to talk about it."
"I know. I'm just

Sonya lay back on the bed, recalling the moment when she was chasing Julian with the knife under the bridge, stabbing him wildly. The memory made her exhale with a mix of relief and fear. She had truly gone all in. But what if something had happened to her? How would Ryan and Millie feel?
She got up, changed into some clothes, washed up, and came out of her room.
"Ryan, Millie, good morning."
They both turned in surprise. Ryan was quick to usher her back inside. morning.
Hurry back inside," Ryan urged.
"You're up already? It's still freezing early in the
"Sonya, you must be hungry. You looked so peaceful when you were sleeping, so we didn't wake you up. Come back inside. I'm making you some milk to warm you up," Millie said as she mixed milk.
"I'm not cold, and I'm not hungry. I just wanted to stay with you for a while."
Ryan and Millie exchanged a look.
Millie came over and knelt beside her. "Sonya, there's nothing in this world you can't get through. Just don't forget, you've got me and Ryan here."
Sonya hugged Millie and took a deep breath. "I divorced Henry."
"What?"
Both of them were shocked. Sonya was about to explain when they saw Alice standing at the gate, looking just as stunned.
"We were married for over a year and lived together for more than that. We just realized we weren't right for each other, so we decided to divorce peacefully. It didn't hurt or devastate me. I just got really tired lately, so I came back to rest. Actually, it's been over a year since we divorced."
Sonya hadn't told them before because their divorce had been so chaotic, even though they hadn't sorted it out, so she didn't know how to explain.
And as time passed, she couldn't bring herself to say anything.
Alice stomped angrily. "This is all Henry's fault! I'll call him right now and
give
him an earful!"
Alice stormed off.
Sonya sighed, looking at Ryan and Millie.
"I'm sorry. I should've told you sooner."
"Stop saying that," Ryan said, "What's there to be sorry about? If you want to leave, you leave. It's no big deal. We're good on our own."
Sonya was about to nod when Ryan shook his head.
"What do you mean, 'on our own'? You still need to get married."
Millie shot him a glare. "That's old-fashioned thinking."
"Old-fashioned thinking has its reasons."
"That's nonsense!"
"Get a grip!"

The two started bickering, and Sonya couldn't help but smile. At least now that she had told them, she felt lighter.
After breakfast, Sonya was about to head into town when her phone rang. It was Henry.
'I heard it's because I can't have kids that you don't want me?"
Sonya blinked and asked, "Who started this rumor?"
What do you think?
