Chapter Seventeen
“Come let’s get you dry and I’ll re-bandage your wound.”
Peter’s gunshot wound to his abdomen was healing nicely, but Paolo didn’t want to take a risk. He was careful with the waterproof bandage, but their fucking session previously was a bit rough and hard.
“I’m okay, I can do it myself.”
“Would you just let me help you?!” Paolo was getting irritated by him already. His sassy ass will get him in so much trouble when he’s truly healed.
“But…”Têxt belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
Paolo grabbed his neck and kiss him roughly. Peter was moaning his name in no time.
“Shut the fuck up and sit your sexy ass on the counter while I change your bandage.”
“Okay…” he bit his lips and let the very masculine guard care for his wound.
He was done five minutes later and told him to rest while he takes care of dinner. And he wouldn’t take no for an answer, not after Peter was taking him for the first time.
“So why me? or is it the stress?” Paolo asked after they were finished with dinner.
“I don’t know, maybe the stress, maybe you… honestly, can we leave it as is? I’m not proud of my first.”
“Really? Oh, you just hurt my ego right there.”
Peter let out a chuckle at his words and snuggled in closer to his warmth. They were relaxing in Peter’s bed while finishing off their light beer.
“Hey, I just don’t like hurting you. I need you to tell me if I’m hurting you. You’ve had a very tough week already, and with getting shot. The pain itself adds another level of stress.”
“You’re not hurting me, not if you hold me tonight.”
“I will, but first I need to work. Your phone… please?”
“Well since you asked nicely.”
Peter smiled and gave Paolo his phone. The shirtless guard gets out of the bed, showing off his sexy-covered briefs ass to Peter who was smiling in content from the view alone.
That night Peter sleep soundly with Paolo to his side and his guns on the nightstand. He had never felt so safe in his entire life before and he sleeps smiling with his hand draped over Paolo’s abs.
While that same night on the other side of town our Amara was feeling the tension as she was going to the lion’s den the next day. Peter was against it but she wanted everything to be done faster. She had lost too many already, and she didn’t want to wait until they slowly took everyone else for the sake of her life.
“It’s not your fault you know that right?”
Matteo assured her countless times already, and that night she was stressing out, even more, knowing that she would be meeting her family for the first time after the incident with Peter two days earlier.
“I just need this over dan done with, people are dead because of me. I’ve almost killed Peter, twice!”
And that was her breaking point, she had broken several times when he was with her. But Matteo could tell at that time that was it, her final breaking point.
For the days that he had gotten to know her, she had tweaked his emotions in many different ways and had made him feel the feelings he never knew existed. He was liking that she cared so much about someone that it made her blame herself.
Matteo had come to know so many backstabbing women in his entire life. The kind that stole money from their club cheated on their boyfriends, husbands, partners, some even dare to cross Leonardo. But he had never known a woman, a very filthy rich woman who couldn’t care less about anything except her precious assistant. He was even sure that she would take a bullet for him if the situation allowed her to.
He awkwardly went to her side and try to offer her comfort, and miraculously she went into his arms and let herself break down and sobbed to his shirt.
It was the first time for Matteo to feel a woman clung to him for comfort. And deep down it was making him filled with so much emotion that it overwhelmed him. His heart beats faster and his feeling of possessiveness towards the skinny woman stunned him.
“You want to talk about it?”
His words sound foreign to his ear. He had never wanted to hear about anyone unless it was facts and needed to know basis. He had never wanted to get to know anyone, let alone volunteering to hear someone share their life story.
But he waited patiently as she backed away and let him wipe her tears away.
“My dad had taken a like to Antonio…” her voice sounded small, she was having a hard time reminiscing about her love for Antonio.
“… I think my brothers were scared that he might one day take their position within the company. Antonio… was such a hard worker and had some great insights on business dealings. One day I even overheard Clifford saying that dad was grooming Antonio to be in the business.”
“His words was we might be the next power couple, I didn’t think about anything at that moment. I still don’t understand why? we have so much money. You don’t need that much to live your entire life. Why the greed?”
“Some people are just that way I guess.” Matteo tries to comfort her, but couldn’t say much. He cursed on the inside while racking his brain trying to say something that might soothe her.
But he didn’t know what to say, so he just pulled her back into his arms and patted her back awkwardly making her laugh at his gesture.
“You really don’t know how to treat a woman don’t you?”
“I’m trying okay, give me some slacks.” He grunted and patted her back a bit too hard making her let out beautiful small laughter, which makes him instantly hard and she was definitely feeling him.
“Oh fuck.” He cursed as he feels embarrassed that he was hard when she was at her most fragile moment.
“I’m so sorry, it’s been a while for me. I haven’t had time…” he was babbling while Amara did nothing but just smile at him.
“It’s okay Matteo, I’m sure you didn’t mean to…”
She got up and moved to the kitchen giving him some space to calm himself down.
“Coffee?” she offered minutes later when Matteo was back from his routine checks of their surroundings. The warehousing complex was strangely more secure than the actual safe house and what surprised him, even more, as she didn’t complain about the accommodation, not even once.
He would’ve thought that with her billionaire lifestyle at some stage she would show her true nature and be the spoiled little brat and demands better accommodation.
“Yeah sure, so… you’re okay with staying here? Leo is securing a more suitable safe house for you. We’ll be moving out of my place in the next couple of days hopefully sooner.”
“Yeah? If you say so. I’ve been a burden already. I’m good with any arrangements. But tomorrow, honestly what do you think?”
“Honestly?”
She nodded and sipped her coffee.
“I’ll be strapping more than two guns just in case. Though Paolo will get our guys to secure the vicinity but the risk is still there.”
“So, you think I should back down?”
“Up to you, but just like you. I would also want everything done and over with sooner than later.”
“Thank you.”
“Huh?”
“Thank you for doing this for me.”
“At some stage, everyone needs help, Amara. I’ve been there, Leo too. Just thank your lucky star that you have us.”
“But still…”
“You seriously want to argue over this?” he finishes his coffee then puts the cup down, and rest his back on the couch.
They talk for another half an hour then she retreated to the guest bedroom to rest for the night.
He was still awake, still conversing with this crew at one of Leo’s strips club when he heard her screaming loudly.
